    Fuzzy-logic-based control, filtering, and fault detection for networked systems: A Survey

    This paper is concerned with the overview of the recent progress in fuzzy-logic-based filtering, control, and fault detection problems. First, the network technologies are introduced, the networked control systems are categorized from the aspects of fieldbuses and industrial Ethernets, the necessity of utilizing the fuzzy logic is justified, and the network-induced phenomena are discussed. Then, the fuzzy logic control strategies are reviewed in great detail. Special attention is given to the thorough examination on the latest results for fuzzy PID control, fuzzy adaptive control, and fuzzy tracking control problems. Furthermore, recent advances on the fuzzy-logic-based filtering and fault detection problems are reviewed.     Networked control system for electrohydraulic flow control positioner using Neural Controller and Collaborative Network

    Electrohydraulic flow control valve is an essential element of an automated process industry where fluid control is applicable. The use of conventional controllers overan IP-communication network for controlling electrohydraulic flow control positioner to regulate mainline pressure and flow rate in pipeline transportation of petroleum products between two stations where downstream pressure of the pumping station fluctuates significantlyposes a problem of instability on the flowrate and the mainline pressure of the pipeline. Additionally, the effect of network induced, time-varying delay between the controller and the electrohydraulic flow control valves induces a problem of poor quality of control and inefficient system performance of the control loop.     Online Rotating PI Controller for NCS Over Communication Constraints

    A new method for controlling the plant in networked control systems (NCSs) is proposed. Network time delay and packet loss are two major drawbacks in data communication networks which make NCSs unstable. Unlike previous related research works, this new proposed rotating PI controller based method has the advantage of considering time delay and packet loss effects simultaneously. Time delay is estimated online and then used for tuning the PI controller by rotating the phase plane, while packet loss sequences are modeled by Markov chain. This novel method improves the performance compared to other methods, especially when packets are dropped consecutively and network time delays are large. In fact, the results show that with the network time delay as large as 600 ms, and packet loss occurring evenly, the index of the rotating PI controller performance will be improved by approximately two and a half times compared to the performance index of classical Smith predictor. This ratio will be improved by approximately eight and a half times compared to the performance index of PI controller. Furthermore, in the case that the packet loss occurs consecutively, the results show a ratio improvement of approximately three and ten for our suggested method in comparison to Smith predictor and PI controller, respectively

    A Novel Fractional-Order PID Controller for Integrated Pressurized Water Reactor Based on Wavelet Kernel Neural Network Algorithm

    This paper presents a novel wavelet kernel neural network (WKNN) with wavelet kernel function. It is applicable in online learning with adaptive parameters and is applied on parameters tuning of fractional-order PID (FOPID) controller, which could handle time delay problem of the complex control system. Combining the wavelet function and the kernel function, the wavelet kernel function is adopted and validated the availability for neural network. Compared to the conservative wavelet neural network, the most innovative character of the WKNN is its rapid convergence and high precision in parameters updating process. Furthermore, the integrated pressurized water reactor (IPWR) system is established by RELAP5, and a novel control strategy combining WKNN and fuzzy logic rule is proposed for shortening controlling time and utilizing the experiential knowledge sufficiently. Finally, experiment results verify that the control strategy and controller proposed have the practicability and reliability in actual complicated system

    Solar Wireless Networked Control Systems (SWNCS) are a style of distributed control systems where sensors, actuators, and controllers are interconnected via a wireless communication network. This system setup has the benefit of low cost, flexibility, low weight, no wiring and simplicity of system diagnoses and maintenance. However, it also unavoidably calls some wireless network time delays and packet dropout into the design procedure. Solar lighting system offers a clean environment, therefore able to continue for a long period. SWNCS also offers multi Service infrastructure solution for both developed and undeveloped countries. The system provides wireless controller lighting, wireless communications network (WI-FI/WIMAX), CCTV surveillance, and wireless sensor for weather measurement which are all powered by solar energy

    Data analytics for stochastic control and prognostics in cyber-physical systems

    In this dissertation, several novel cyber fault diagnosis and prognosis and defense methodologies for cyber-physical systems have been proposed. First, a novel routing scheme for wireless mesh network is proposed. An effective capacity estimation for P2P and E2E path is designed to guarantee the vital transmission safety. This scheme can ensure a high quality of service (QoS) under imperfect network condition, even cyber attacks. Then, the imperfection, uncertainties, and dynamics in the cyberspace are considered both in system model and controller design. A PDF identifier is proposed to capture the time-varying delays and its distribution. With the modification of traditional stochastic optimal control using PDF of delays, the assumption of full knowledge of network imperfection in priori is relaxed. This proposed controller is considered a novel resilience control strategy for cyber fault diagnosis and prognosis. After that, we turn to the development of a general framework for cyber fault diagnosis and prognosis schemes for CPSs wherein the cyberspace performance affect the physical system and vice versa. A novel cyber fault diagnosis scheme is proposed. It is capable of detecting cyber fault by monitoring the probability of delays. Also, the isolation of cyber and physical system fault is achieved with cooperating with the traditional observer based physical system fault detection. Next, a novel cyber fault prognosis scheme, which can detect and estimate cyber fault and its negative effects on system performance ahead of time, is proposed. Moreover, soft and hard cyber faults are isolated depending on whether potential threats on system stability is predicted. Finally, one-class SVM is employed to classify healthy and erroneous delays.     El trabajo presenta una estructura basada en sistemas embebidos para realizar control inalámbrico de plataformas pesadas giratorias con dos grados de libertad. Se propone el diseño de un controlador que permita acceso remoto de los operadores a través de una red WiFi, para el ajuste automático de los parámetros de control en tiempo real. Con el empleo de una placa Arduino UNO conectada a un módulo ESP8266 y un medio de cómputo, se establece la conexión inalámbrica basada en Protocolo de Control de Transmisión/Protocolo de Internet (TCP/IP), esto posibilita su futura integración en una plataforma IoT (Internet of Things) empleando hardware y software libre como medios fundamentales. Los resultados obtenidos en un entorno de laboratorio evidencian que es posible el control de la plataforma a una distancia máxima de 50 m, siendo posible aumentar el alcance del enlace con la adición de antenas direccionales compatibles con el hardware que conforma el sistema
