Analysis of cyclic delay diversity on DVB-H systems over spatially correlated channel
The objective of this work is to research and analyze the performance of Cyclic Delay Diversity (CDD) with two transmit antenna on DVB-H systems operating in spatially correlated channel. It is shown in this paper that CDD can achieve desirable transmit diversity gain over uncorrelated channel with or without receiver diversity. However, in reality, the respective signal paths between spatially separated antennas and the mobile receiver is likely to be correlated because of insufficient antenna separation at the transmitter and the lack of scattering effect of the channel. Under this spatially correlated channel, it is apparent that CDD cannot achieve the same diversity gain as obtained under the uncorrelated channel. In this paper, a new upper bound on the pairwise error probability (PEP) of the CDD with spatial correlation of two transmit antennas is derived. The upper bound is used to study the CDD theoretical error performance and diversity gain losses over a generalized spatially correlated Rayleigh channel. This theoretical analysis is validated by the simulation of DVB-H systems with two transmit antennas and the CDD scheme. Both the theoretical and simulated results give the valuable insight that the CDD ability to perform well with a certain amount of channel correlation
On the Second Order Statistics of the Multihop Rayleigh Fading Channel
Second order statistics provides a dynamic representation of a fading channel
and plays an important role in the evaluation and design of the wireless
communication systems. In this paper, we present a novel analytical framework
for the evaluation of important second order statistical parameters, as the
level crossing rate (LCR) and the average fade duration (AFD) of the
amplify-and-forward multihop Rayleigh fading channel. More specifically,
motivated by the fact that this channel is a cascaded one and can be modeled as
the product of N fading amplitudes, we derive novel analytical expressions for
the average LCR and the AFD of the product of N Rayleigh fading envelopes (or
of the recently so-called N*Rayleigh channel). Furthermore, we derive simple
and efficient closed-form approximations to the aforementioned parameters,
using the multivariate Laplace approximation theorem. It is shown that our
general results reduce to the corresponding ones of the specific dual-hop case,
previously published. Numerical and computer simulation examples verify the
accuracy of the presented mathematical analysis and show the tightness of the
proposed approximations

Trellis-coded MPSK modulation techniques for MSAT-X(sup)1
Various trellis-coded modulated phase shift keying (MPSK) modulation techniques for transmitting 4.8 kbps over a 5 kHz RF channel are considered. The tradeoffs between coherent versus differentially coherent types of demodulation, and interleaving are discussed as well as optimum trellis-codes designed for fading channels. Simulation results are presented
On the Performance of Multiple Antenna Cooperative Spectrum Sharing Protocol under Nakagami-m Fading
In a cooperative spectrum sharing (CSS) protocol, two wireless systems
operate over the same frequency band albeit with different priorities. The
secondary (or cognitive) system which has a lower priority, helps the higher
priority primary system to achieve its target rate by acting as a relay and
allocating a fraction of its power to forward the primary signal. The secondary
system in return is benefited by transmitting its own data on primary system's
spectrum. In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of multiple antenna
cooperative spectrum sharing protocol under Nakagami-m Fading. Closed form
expressions for outage probability have been obtained by varying the parameters
m and Omega of the Nakagami-m fading channels. Apart from above, we have shown
the impact of power allocation factor (alpha) and parameter m on the region of
secondary spectrum access, conventionally defined as critical radius for the
secondary system. A comparison between theoretical and simulated results is
also presented to corroborate the theoretical results obtained in this paperComment: Accepted in the proceedings of IEEE PIMRC 2015 Hong Kong, Chin
Outage rates and outage durations of opportunistic relaying systems
Opportunistic relaying is a simple yet efficient cooperation scheme that
achieves full diversity and preserves the spectral efficiency among the
spatially distributed stations. However, the stations' mobility causes temporal
correlation of the system's capacity outage events, which gives rise to its
important second-order outage statistical parameters, such as the average
outage rate (AOR) and the average outage duration (AOD). This letter presents
exact analytical expressions for the AOR and the AOD of an opportunistic
relaying system, which employs a mobile source and a mobile destination
(without a direct path), and an arbitrary number of (fixed-gain
amplify-and-forward or decode-and-forward) mobile relays in Rayleigh fading
environment
