    Personality Identification from Social Media Using Deep Learning: A Review

    Social media helps in sharing of ideas and information among people scattered around the world and thus helps in creating communities, groups, and virtual networks. Identification of personality is significant in many types of applications such as in detecting the mental state or character of a person, predicting job satisfaction, professional and personal relationship success, in recommendation systems. Personality is also an important factor to determine individual variation in thoughts, feelings, and conduct systems. According to the survey of Global social media research in 2018, approximately 3.196 billion social media users are in worldwide. The numbers are estimated to grow rapidly further with the use of mobile smart devices and advancement in technology. Support vector machine (SVM), Naive Bayes (NB), Multilayer perceptron neural network, and convolutional neural network (CNN) are some of the machine learning techniques used for personality identification in the literature review. This paper presents various studies conducted in identifying the personality of social media users with the help of machine learning approaches and the recent studies that targeted to predict the personality of online social media (OSM) users are reviewed

    Segmentation of bias field induced brain MR images using rough sets and stomped-t distribution

    Over the past few decades, automatic segmentation of brain magnetic resonance (MR) images into different tissue classes has remained an important research area, particularly due to the presence of bias field artifact in MR images. In this regard, the stomped normal (StN) distribution is proved to generate an optimal representation of the intensity distribution in brain MR images, by incorporating the properties of rough sets in the probabilistic framework. The StN distribution is capable of successfully modelling the central tendency, dispersion, and width of the intensity distribution. However, it does not take into consideration the kurtosis of the distribution, which controls the concentration of values around the mean and shape of the tail of intensity distribution. In this regard, the paper presents a novel method for simultaneous segmentation and bias field correction in brain MR images. It integrates the concept of rough sets and the merit of a recently introduced probability distribution, called stomped-t (St-t) distribution. The St-t distribution incorporates the property of kurtosis in rough-probabilistic framework, where each tissue class is modelled using a crisp lower approximation and a probabilistic boundary region. The brain MR image is modelled using a mixture of finite number of St-t distributions and one uniform distribution. The uniform distribution takes into account cerebro-spinal fluid, pathologies, and other non-brain tissues. The proposed method employs both expectation-maximization algorithm and hidden Markov random field model for accurate and robust image segmentation. The performance of the proposed approach, along with a comparison with related methods, is illustrated on a set of synthetic and real brain MR images for different bias fields and noise levels

As a discipline, intercultural communication has encompassed a range of analytical levels, from micro-analysis of everyday communicative interactions to the macro-level structural factors that were brought into light by the critical turn. In light of planetary environmental issues, some researchers have called for an “ecological turn” as a new research paradigm. However, the complexity of integrating communication, culture, and the natural world into a coherent research program poses significant conceptual and methodological challenges.     Psr1p interacts with SUN/sad1p and EB1/mal3p to establish the bipolar spindle

    Regular Abstracts - Sunday Poster Presentations: no. 382During mitosis, interpolar microtubules from two spindle pole bodies (SPBs) interdigitate to create an antiparallel microtubule array for accommodating numerous regulatory proteins. Among these proteins, the kinesin-5 cut7p/Eg5 is the key player responsible for sliding apart antiparallel microtubules and thus helps in establishing the bipolar spindle. At the onset of mitosis, two SPBs are adjacent to one another with most microtubules running nearly parallel toward the nuclear envelope, creating an unfavorable microtubule configuration for the kinesin-5 kinesins. Therefore, how the cell organizes the antiparallel microtubule array in the first place at mitotic onset remains enigmatic. Here, we show that a novel protein psrp1p localizes to the SPB and plays a key role in organizing the antiparallel microtubule array. The absence of psr1+ leads to a transient monopolar spindle and massive chromosome loss. Further functional characterization demonstrates that psr1p is recruited to the SPB through interaction with the conserved SUN protein sad1p and that psr1p physically interacts with the conserved microtubule plus tip protein mal3p/EB1. These results suggest a model that psr1p serves as a linking protein between sad1p/SUN and mal3p/EB1 to allow microtubule plus ends to be coupled to the SPBs for organization of an antiparallel microtubule array. Thus, we conclude that psr1p is involved in organizing the antiparallel microtubule array in the first place at mitosis onset by interaction with SUN/sad1p and EB1/mal3p, thereby establishing the bipolar spindle.postprin

    Removal of antagonistic spindle forces can rescue metaphase spindle length and reduce chromosome segregation defects

    Regular Abstracts - Tuesday Poster Presentations: no. 1925Metaphase describes a phase of mitosis where chromosomes are attached and oriented on the bipolar spindle for subsequent segregation at anaphase. In diverse cell types, the metaphase spindle is maintained at a relatively constant length. Metaphase spindle length is proposed to be regulated by a balance of pushing and pulling forces generated by distinct sets of spindle microtubules and their interactions with motors and microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs). Spindle length appears important for chromosome segregation fidelity, as cells with shorter or longer than normal metaphase spindles, generated through deletion or inhibition of individual mitotic motors or MAPs, showed chromosome segregation defects. To test the force balance model of spindle length control and its effect on chromosome segregation, we applied fast microfluidic temperature-control with live-cell imaging to monitor the effect of switching off different combinations of antagonistic forces in the fission yeast metaphase spindle. We show that spindle midzone proteins kinesin-5 cut7p and microtubule bundler ase1p contribute to outward pushing forces, and spindle kinetochore proteins kinesin-8 klp5/6p and dam1p contribute to inward pulling forces. Removing these proteins individually led to aberrant metaphase spindle length and chromosome segregation defects. Removing these proteins in antagonistic combination rescued the defective spindle length and, in some combinations, also partially rescued chromosome segregation defects. Our results stress the importance of proper chromosome-to-microtubule attachment over spindle length regulation for proper chromosome segregation.postprin

    Titles and Topoi:Narrative Structure and Organizational Devices in the Work of Thomas Pynchon

    This thesis will extend the critical supposition common in studies of Thomas pynchon that the author's novels bear a direct structural correlation to their respective titles. Taking as a starting point Samuel Cohen's analysis of the importance of the ampersand in Mason & Dixon (1997), Joseph W. Slade and Tony Tanner's parabolic models for Gravity's Rainbow (1973). and Harold Bloom's observations on the V·shape in V. (1963), I intend to apply an analogous logic to The Crying of Lot 49 (1966), Vineland (1990), Againstthe Day (2006) and Inherent Vice (2009), proceeding chronologically across Pynchon's entire novelistic oeuvre. With the exception of Co hen, who makes Mason & Dixon's titular ampersand the crux of his reading of the novel, critics have simply gestured towards a connection between Pynchon's titles and possible visuowgeometrical narrative structures, without delving into the broader implications of this approach or basing their readings of the novels on this titulo-structural correspondence. Recuperating this notion, this study will extract it from the realm of the passing remark and the interesting observation, both analyzing it and proposing it as a form of analysis in itself. By attending to the formal relationship between titles and topoi in Pynchon's novels, not only will this thesis offer new interpretations of this canonical author's body of work, but it will also heed to the thematic specificity of each individual text, encompassing the multiplicity of Pynchon's expansive fictions. This study will be the first to attempt a systematic, coherent analysiS of the interrelation between the structuring devices of Pynchon's novels and their titles.     I\u27m Gonna Stay Right Here Until They Tear This Barrelhouse Down: Black Power and the Origins of Blues Tourism in Greenville, Mississippi

    This dissertation connects and comments on the historiography of the black freedom struggle as well as studies of the blues and blues tourism. To blues studies, it recognizes the artists discovered by Worth Long as well as his field research and festival production in the 1970s. It moves away from the social constructions of authenticity and segregation of sound, and it emphasizes black agency. My dissertation also contributes to the historiography of the black freedom struggle by providing a much-needed examination of rural economic and community development in 1970s Mississippi. For studies of blues tourism, it announces a revisionist account of the development of blues tourism in Mississippi, tracing it back to the protests against the Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. This dissertation takes the long view to better understand the important efforts of organizers at Mississippi Action for Community Education (MACE), a Greenville-headquartered non-profit community action organization founded by several former SNCC leaders in 1967 to empower black communities and take action. MACE established an annual festival tradition that focused on cultural education and the preservation of the musical traditions of African Americans in the Delta. The Delta Blues Festival drew on the agricultural region’s harvest festival traditions and borroelements from earlier, black-organized music festivals, which celebrated the image of black progress and racial uplift. By organizing and staging celebrations, such as the Delta Cotton Maker’s Jubilee and the Delta Blues Festival, African American producers intended to not only fill a perceived cultural void, but also refute racist, stereotypical representations of blacks and replace them with positive images that inspired self-esteem and pride in the black communities in the Delta. MACE intended to regain control of the cultural and political identity of African Americans on stage at the festivals. Not merely black alternatives to white-dominated events, not purely recreational nor wholly radical in nature, they provided a forum for reshaping the image of the blues through black experience
