    Wind turbine and grid interaction studies using integrated real-time simulation environment

    Knowledge of interactions between wind turbines and network becomes essential as the number of wind turbines installed in the network increases. Thus, a simulation environment with accurate network and wind turbine models is needed. In this paper, a novel real-time simulation environment for wind turbine and grid interaction studies is presented. The network is simulated with Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) and the wind turbine with its power electronic equipments in dSPACE. First, the wind turbine model is introduced. Next, real-time simulation results during three-phase short-circuit and automatic reclosing are presented and compared to Simulink results in order to verify the real-time model. Discussions about the reliability and usefulness of the environment are also performed.reviewe

    The new grid regulations require that a grid-connected wind farm acts as a single controllable power producer. To meet this requirement a traditional wind farm control structure, which allowed individual wind turbines to internally define their power production, has to be modified. This paper investigates the opportunity for wind turbine load reduction that arises from dynamic power control of wind turbines. The wind farm controller design is proposed that utilizes coordinated power control of all wind turbines to achieve the wind farm regulation requirements and to minimize the wind turbine loads.Nova mrežna pravila zahtijevaju da vjetroelektrane spojene na električnu mrežu djeluju kao jedinstveni upravljivi proizvođač električne energije. Da bi se zadovoljio takav zahtjev, tradicionalni način upravljanja vjetroelektranama, koji dozvoljava da vjetroagregati interno definiraju svoju referencu snage, treba biti modificiran. U ovom radu proučavaju se mogućnosti smanjenja opterećenja vjetroagregata korištenjem dinamičkog upravljanja snage vjetroagregata. Predložen je koncept regulatora vjetroelektrane koji koristi koordinirano upravljanje snagom vjetroagregata u svrhu zadovoljenja mrežnih pravila i smanjenja opterećenja vjetroagregata

    The overall objective of this research project is to study the development of methods and guidelines rather than "universal solutions" for the use of wind energy in isolated communities. The main specific objective of the project is to develop and present amore unified and generally applicable approach for assessing the technical and economical feasibility of isolated power supply systems with wind energy. As a part of the project the following tasks were carried out: Review of literature, fieldmeasurements in Egypt, development of an inventory of small isolated systems, overview of end-user demands, analysis of findings and development of proposed guidelines. The project is reported in one main report and four topical reports, all of themissued as Risø reports. This is the Main Report Risø-R-1256, summing up the activities and findings of the project and outlining an Implementation Strategy for Isolated Systems with Wind Power, applicable for international organisations such as donoragencies and development banks

    En este trabajo de grado se lleva a cabo la investigación de los convertidores AC/AC para el control de los generadores eólicos y su adaptación a un sistema eléctrico de potencia. Inicialmente este trabajo de investigación muestra un estudio detallado del estado del arte de los modelos del convertidor AC/AC para el caso de los inversores de dos niveles como lo son la fuente inversora de voltaje (VSC) y la fuente inversora de corriente (CSC), en el modelo del CSC se implementara mediante modulación. El trabajo relaciona todo un estudio de los modelos del convertidor matricial híbrido y las formas de modulación por ancho de pulsos PWM, para garantizar que sea e caz a pesar de las posibles variaciones en los parámetros de los generadores eólicos. Ya que la modulación tiene como objetivo desarrollar nuevas metodologías que contribuyan al control de las variables de frecuencia y tensión para garantizar parámetros constantes en la carga que se va a conectar al sistema de generación eólica

    Η διείσδυση της ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας που παράγεται από αιολικά πάρκα στο παγκόσμιο σύστημα δικτύου αυξάνεται εκθετικά. Ένας περιοριστικός παράγοντας είναι οι ολοένα αυστηρότερες απαιτήσεις δικτύου που επιβάλλονται από διάφορους φορείς εκμετάλλευσης δικτύων με στόχο τη διατήρηση της σταθερότητας του δικτύου. Οι μονάδες αιολικής ενέργειας (WP) συνδέονται στο δίκτυο μέσω μετατροπέων πλέγματος οι οποίοι εκτός από τη μεταφορά της παραγόμενης ισχύος συνεχούς ρεύματος στο δίκτυο εναλλασσόμενου ρεύματος θα πρέπει τώρα να παρουσιάζουν προηγμένες λειτουργίες όπως ο δυναμικός έλεγχος ενεργού και άεργου ισχύος, η σταθερή λειτουργία εντός εύρους τάσης και συχνότητας, ο έλεγχος τάσης διαδρομής, η ενεργή ένεση ρεύματος κατά τη διάρκεια σφαλμάτων και η συμμετοχή σε μια πράξη εξισορρόπησης δικτύου, όπως ο κύριος έλεγχος συχνότητας. Επομένως, ο στόχος αυτής της πτυχιακής είναι να εξηγήσει τις τοπολογίες, τη διαμόρφωση και τον έλεγχο των μετατροπέων πλέγματος για τα αιολικά πάρκα και να αποτελέσει έναν συνοπτικό οδηγό για τις κατάλληλες πρακτικές σύνδεσης αιολικών πάρκων στο ελληνικό δίκτυο.The penetration of electricity which is generated by wind farm in global network system is exponentially growing. A limiting factor are the increasingly stringent network requirements witch are imposed by various network operators with the aim of maintaining its stability network. The wind power plants ( WPs ) are connected to the grid via mesh inventers witch, decides to the carrying output power direct current ( dc ) on the alternating current ( ac ), should now feature advanced functions such as dynamic control of active and inactive power, stable operation within voltage and frequency range, voltage control route, active power injection during faults and participation in a balancing network deed such as master frequency control. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to explain topologies, the configuration and control of the mesh inventers for the wind farms and becoming a concise guide to wind farming practices at Greek network
