    Trends in IoT Research: A Bibliometric and Science mapping Analysis of Internet of Things

    Internet of Things (IoT) is about augmenting the existing power of the Internet beyond computers and smartphones to a whole range of other things, processes, and environments involving living or non-living species. It can bring life to the objects and enable them to communicate. This study presents the bibliometric analysis and science-mapping analysis on IoT. The data were extracted from the Web of Science (WoS) database from 1989–2019. In total 14,469 documents (articles, review, editorial material, proceedings, etc) were retrieved, which were further processed by VOSviewer software to perform advanced bibliometric analysis and science-mapping analysis. This research identifies the most productive or leading authors, countries, journals, institutions, keywords and to know their co-authorship pattern, co-citation pattern, bibliographic coupling pattern, the co-occurrence of keywords pattern in the research area of IoT. Results showed that Joel J.P.C Rodrigues was the most productive author, the People’s Republic of China was the most productive country, the Journal of EEE Access was the leading journal, Luigi Atzori was the most cited author. The main keywords more frequently occurred were Internet of things, and Internet, and Security. The analysis showed a collaboration relation between authors, countries and institutions. The visualizations conducted on this topic offer exploratory information on current status and trends on the scientific literature of IoT and provides insights for established and novice researchers in the understanding of this research topic

    A Bibliometrics Portrait of Chinese Research through the Lens of China Economic Review. A research proposal.

    Notwithstanding, in the last two decades, there has been a noticeable increase in published work on the research field of Chinese economy. There are few studies, which analyze the evolution of Chinese economics research, and the weight of international economics within it, by resorting to objective methods, namely bibliometrics. Giving our focus on Chinese economics related research, we select to base our empirical analysis on the “seed journal” China Economic Review (CER), which is the most important economic journal especially concerned with the issues of Chinese economy. We classify and assess all the (522) articles that were published in CER from its genesis (1989) up to December 2010. We construct three main databases: the first database as bibliographic database that contains the more than 500 articles published in CER, where we classify articles by themes (such as Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and International Economics) and types(such as formal vs. empirical); the second database includes the references of those 500 articles, which we denominate ‘roots of Chinese economics research’; and the third database, the ‘influence of Chinese economics research’, where we have all the studies that cited (more than 3000 references) the 500 articles published in CER. By undertaking an exploratory statistical analysis on the three databases - bibliographic database, ‘roots’ database and ‘influence’ database, we are able to assess three main group of issues: 1) the importance, within Chinese economics of the topic ‘international economic’; the types of research that are pursued in the period of analysis (formal vs empirical); and the most prolific authors in the area; 2) the ‘roots’ of Chinese economics, that is, who and which outlets are influencing most Chinese economics research; 3) the scope of influence of Chinese economics literature.Evolution of research, Economics, Bibliometrics, China Economic Review

    A Knowledge Mapping Analysis of Digital Photogrammetry Research Using CiteSpace

    In order to clearly understand the current status and application trends of digital photogrammetry domestic and overseas research, taking the core journals of Web of Science as the data source, using bibliometric methods and CiteSpace to carry out statistical analysis of the relevant literature of digital photogrammetry research. The results show that since 2011, the research literature on digital photogrammetry has shown a steady growth year by year.  Digital photogrammetry is most closely related to the three disciplines of geology, earth science integration, and physical geography; countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, and China publish the most papers, and these countries have strong research capabilities. Lane SN and Chandler JH have been shared with a high number of citations, who are representative scholars in this field; Digital photogrammetry contains multiple research directions.     Mapping the intellectual structure of the coronavirus field (2000-2020): a co-word analysis

    Over the two last decades, coronaviruses have affected human life in different ways, especially in terms of health and economy. Due to the profound effects of novel coronaviruses, growing tides of research are emerging in various research fields. This paper employs a co-word analysis approach to map the intellectual structure of the coronavirus literature for a better understanding of how coronavirus research and the disease itself have developed during the target timeframe. A strategic diagram has been drawn to depict the coronavirus domain’s structure and development. A detailed picture of coronavirus literature has been extracted from a huge number of papers to provide a quick overview of the coronavirus literature. The main themes of past coronavirus-related publications are (a) “Antibody- Virus Interactions,” (b) “Emerging Infectious Diseases,” (c) “Protein Structure-based Drug Design and Antiviral Drug Discovery,” (d) “Coronavirus Detection Methods,” (e) “Viral Pathogenesis and Immunity,” and (f) “Animal Coronaviruses.” The emerging infectious diseases are mostly related to fatal diseases (such as Middle East respiratory syndrome, severe acute respiratory syndrome, and COVID-19) and animal coronaviruses (including porcine, turkey, feline, canine, equine, and bovine coronaviruses and infectious bronchitis virus), which are capable of placing animal-dependent industries such as the swine and poultry industries under strong economic pressure. Although considerable research into coronavirus has been done, this unique field has not yet matured sufficiently. Therefore, “Antibody-virus Interactions,” “Emerging Infectious Diseases,” and “Coronavirus Detection Methods” hold interesting, promising research gaps to be both explored and filled in the future

    BIBLIOMETRIC MAPPING OF PAPERS ON GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS (2007-2016)

    The amount of researchers and scientific papers rapidly grows, annually. The metrics to analyze the quality and quantity of these publications have consolidated in the academic world. A bibliometric mapping of scientific papers on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) published between 2007 and 2016 was carried out. The sample analyzed 2,053 papers, extracted from twenty journals of the Web of Science Core Collection platform. The following were evaluated: total number of publications, production by area of knowledge and by country, authors, periodicals and the most cited words. The results shows that 2012 and 2013 were the most productive periods, and that the annual growth rate of publication was 1.8%. The most significant academic areas were Geography, Computer Science, Physical Geography, and Environmental Sciences/Ecology. The three major publishing clusters were North America, Western Europe, and Eastern Asia. The International Journal of Geographic Information Science was considered the most important journal. The most relevant topics were cellular automata, relationship between GIS and users, integration of GIS with remote sensing, different land use classification methods, and critical reflections on technologies and GIS

    The recognition of entities and their relationships in document collections is an important step towards the discovery of latent knowledge as well as to support knowledge management applications. The challenge lies on how to extract and correlate entities, aiming to answer key knowledge management questions, such as; who works with whom, on which projects, with which customers and on what research areas. The present work proposes a knowledge mining approach supported by information retrieval and text mining tasks in which its core is based on the correlation of textual elements through the LRD (Latent Relation Discovery) method. Our experiments show that LRD outperform better than other correlation methods.     Scientometric analysis of BIM-based research in construction engineering and management

    The purpose of this paper is to summarize the latest research of BIM adoption in construction engineering and management (CEM) and propose research directions for future scholarly work. During the recent decade, building information modeling (BIM) has gained increasing applications and research interest in the construction industry. Although there have been review-based studies that summarized BIM-based research in the overall architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) area, there is limited review that evaluates the current stage of BIM-based research specifically in the CEM sub-area. Design/methodology/approach CEM falls into the scope of AEC. It involves construction-related tasks, activities and processes (e.g. scheduling and cost estimates), issues (e.g. constructability), as well as human factors (e.g. collaboration). This study adopted a holistic literature review approach that incorporates bibliometric search and scientometric analysis. A total of 276 articles related to BIM applied in CEM were selected from Scopus as the literature sample for the scientometric analysis. Findings Some key CEM research areas (e.g. CEM pedagogy, integrated project delivery, lean and off-site construction) were identified and evaluated. Research trends in these areas were identified, and analyses were carried out with regard to how they could be integrated with BIM. For example, BIM, as a data repository for ACE facilities, has substantial potential to be integrated with a variety of other digital technologies, project delivery methods and innovative construction techniques throughout the whole process of CEM. Practical implications As BIM is one of the key technologies and digital platforms to improve the construction productivity and collaboration, it is important for industry practitioners to be updated of the latest movement and progress of the academic research. The industry, academics and governmental authorities should work with joint effort to fill the gap by first recognizing the current needs, limitations and trends of applying BIM in the construction industry. For example, it needs more understanding about how to address technical interoperability issues and how to introduce the integrated design and construction delivery approach for BIM implementation under the UK BIM Level 2/3 framework. This study contributed to the body of knowledge in BIM by proposing a framework leading to research directions including the differences of BIM effects between design-bid-build and other fast-track project delivery methods; the integration of BIM with off-site construction; and BIM pedagogy in CEM. It also addressed the need to investigate the similarities and differences between academia and industry toward perceiving the movement of BIM in construction field work

    Bibliometric Analysis of Learning Organization

    Having the consideration of learning is a continuous effort put into the development of human capital and talent development for organizations of all kinds, scholarly interest in learning organization has consistently increased in the past decade due to its potential to create and disseminate valuable knowledge to enhance innovative performance and sustainable organizations. Knowing the increasing research in this field, this article analyzes and reports on various types of published works related to learning organizations. This study adopted a bibliometric analysis based on the data obtained from Scopus database as at date 24 January 2021. Keywords through search string are utilised for the search results and found 1,671 valid documents for further analysis. Authors have employed VOSviewer for data visualization purpose, Harzing Publish Or Perish and R for standard bibliometric indicators, particularly on the growth rate of publications, analysis of the citation, and research productivity. Findings revealed analysis of document type, source type, top language used, subject area, research trend, top countries, top influential institutions, most productive authors, most active source, top keywords used, and citation analysis. As this study is only using one of the major databases, Scopus, hence, there is a limitation in the search results. Another limitation is in the case where authors are having few registrations in the same database which will affect the accuracy of the productivity in authorship and affiliation details. In this paper, we identify future research directions and future research agenda in learning organization. (Abstract by authors
