This thesis sorts out the bottleneck problems encountered in the current information-based teaching reform in higher vocational colleges, establishes and runs the information-based teaching reform mode of “two orientations, three levels and four stages” and clarifies the context of information-based teaching in ways that provide time reference for promoting the application of information technology in Higher Vocational Education and creating a new teaching form

A Competency-based Approach toward Curricular Guidelines for Information Technology Education

    Get PDF
The Association for Computing Machinery and the IEEE Computer Society have launched a new report titled, Curriculum Guidelines for Baccalaureate Degree Programs in Information Technology (IT2017). This paper discusses significant aspects of the IT2017 report and focuses on competency-driven learning rather than delivery of knowledge in information technology (IT) programs. It also highlights an IT curricular framework that meets the growing demands of a changing technological world in the next decade. Specifically, the paper outlines ways by which baccalaureate IT programs might implement the IT curricular framework and prepare students with knowledge, skills, and dispositions to equip graduates with competencies that matter in the workplace. The paper suggests that a focus on competencies allows academic departments to forge collaborations with employers and engage students in professional practice experiences. It also shows how professionals and educators might use the report in reviewing, updating, and creating baccalaureate IT degree programs worldwide

This paper analyzes the current situation of higher vocational students and the problems existing in the management of higher vocational students, and puts forward the idea of making use of cloud computing technology to innovate the management of higher vocational students, that is, to construct an interactive system based on the educational cloud platform. To realize the interaction between teachers and students. The construction of student management model based on cloud platform is the requirement of information construction of student management and the reform of talent training mode in higher vocational colleges

The Effectiveness of MALT on Vocational College English Teaching

    Get PDF
With the fast development of modern information technology, mobile terminals and their applications, an increasingly number of teachers come to realize it may be probable to improve teaching quality by using mobile terminals. However, there is no solid data so far in literature that support the effectiveness of MALT (Mobile Assisted Language Teaching). Therefore, this article is dedicated to prove its effectiveness on vocational college English teaching using Moso Teach as a platform. It is found that MALT has effectively improved teaching quality. The students who used Moso Teach more have achieved greater progress. But poor students are not active in using the mobile teaching platform. As a result, it is suggested that teachers should integrate MALT in their English teaching on condition that teaching is carefully designed, and teachers should try to help poor students change their attitudes toward using mobile teaching platforms

Factors affecting Cloud Computing adoption in Higher Learning Institutions in South Africa: A case of Matjhabeng TVET Colleges

Cloud Computing is one of the most important trends and newest area in the field of information technology in which resources (e.g. CPU and storage) can be leased and released by customers through the Internet in an on-demand basis. The adoption of Cloud Computing in Higher Learning Institution is a real opportunity. Although Cloud computing has gained popularity in the world especially in education and industry, but its impact in colleges is still unexplored. This exploratory qualitative research seeks to identify the factors affecting the adoption of Cloud Computing in South Africa, focusing on Matjhabeng TVET colleges. 35 IT stakeholders from two TVET colleges was interviewed. Thematic analysis was utilised to analase data. After data was analysed, the findings revealed that data security, lack of internet access and lack of infrastructure resources are key factors that affects Cloud computing adoption in Matjhabeng TVET colleges. This paper contributes to the literature on Cloud Computing adoption in Higher Learning Institutions in South Africa.Moloja, D.; Ruhode, E. (2020). Enhancing SET Teaching at Level 3

    Get PDF
The initial source of motivation for this report was the national response to the Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning (CAVTL) Report It’s All About Work (2013), and it addresses an issue that remains relevant to the current discussion about the creation of Professional and Technical Pathways to employment - the contribution that excellent vocational teaching and learning makes to the development of the forms of expertise that employers’ require and that facilitate learners’ continuing employability. In the course of discussions between the Gatsby Foundation and the research team the following rationale, focus and outcome was agreed. In the case of the former, to develop a conceptual framework to investigate vocational pedagogy that drew on insights from the academic and grey literature and, in the case of focus, to use that framework to investigate learning and teaching in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) programmes at Level 3 in a variety of SET contexts. In order to do so, it was recognised that it would be important for the research team to take account of the way in which colleges respond to known as well as emerging employer demand for SET skills

Cloud classroom teaching culture is a special cultural form of teaching culture in cloud classroom. It is closely related to modern high-tech information technology and multimedia environment, containing both traditional cultural forms in the marks of modern multimedia technology and information environment, and includes modern new high-tech information technology and multimedia environment. Interpreting the connotation of the cloud of classroom teaching culture, analyzing the cloud classroom teaching culture of five basic characteristics: technical, across time and space, visibility, sharing, diversity, and put forward the cloud classroom teaching culture of five generated path: positioning cloud point to the spirit of classroom teaching culture, shape the new teaching idea; Implement the material culture construction of cloud classroom teaching and lay the foundation for the classroom teaching; To build up the technical and cultural features of cloud classroom teaching and highlight the cultural characteristics of classroom teaching; Cultivate the behavior culture atmosphere of cloud classroom teaching and gain insight into the details of classroom teaching; To construct the system culture system of cloud classroom teaching and to perceive the standardization of classroom teaching

Middle School Physics Experiment Teaching Within “Internet Plus”: From the Status Quo to Implications

    Get PDF
Middle school physics experiment is a significant basic course with extensive content and strong practicability. This course has high requirements for students to master and understand the background and basic principles of various physical experiments, as well as the working principles and the use of various experimental devices. Based on the importance of physics experiment teaching and the limitations of the traditional experiment teaching mode, this paper first reviews the traditional mode in the context of the Internet and puts forward the new physics experiment teaching mode within "Internet Plus" in the new era, including theoretical guidance of constructing the experimental teaching mode, the innovation of teaching methods and examination methods, and the prospect of promoting the development of education industry. At the same time, this paper puts forward the network teaching platform system that can implement the new physics experiment teaching, including exercises, flipped classroom, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), and discusses them separately, hoping to provide research reference for middle school physics teaching and research in the future
