A NOVEL APPROACH IN IMAGE WATERMARKING WITH DISCRETE WAVELET TRANSFORM
In this paper we present a new watermarking scheme for still image data. Most of the recent work in watermarking can be grouped into two categories: spatial domain methods and frequency domain methods. We introduce a novel approach of watermarking which involves embedding the watermark in the discrete wavelet domain. We make use of a multi resolution data fusion approach in which the image and watermark are both transformed into the discrete wavelet domain. The resulting image pyramids are then fused according to a series of combination. After watermark insertion, inverse DWT is applied to the sub-bands with modified coefficients to obtain the watermarked image. For watermark extraction, a threshold-based decoder is designed. Embedding and extraction process are characterized with parameters and genetic algorithm is used for parameter optimization. Optimization is to maximize the values of peak signal-to-noise ratio of the watermarked image and normalized cross correlation of the extracted watermark. The performance of the proposed scheme is compared with the existing schemes and significant improvement is observed
Authentication with Distortion Criteria
In a variety of applications, there is a need to authenticate content that
has experienced legitimate editing in addition to potential tampering attacks.
We develop one formulation of this problem based on a strict notion of
security, and characterize and interpret the associated information-theoretic
performance limits. The results can be viewed as a natural generalization of
classical approaches to traditional authentication. Additional insights into
the structure of such systems and their behavior are obtained by further
specializing the results to Bernoulli and Gaussian cases. The associated
systems are shown to be substantially better in terms of performance and/or
security than commonly advocated approaches based on data hiding and digital
watermarking. Finally, the formulation is extended to obtain efficient layered
authentication system constructions.Comment: 22 pages, 10 figure
Simultaneous storage of medical images in the spatial and frequency domain: A comparative study
BACKGROUND: Digital watermarking is a technique of hiding specific identification data for copyright authentication. This technique is adapted here for interleaving patient information with medical images, to reduce storage and transmission overheads. METHODS: The patient information is encrypted before interleaving with images to ensure greater security. The bio-signals are compressed and subsequently interleaved with the image. This interleaving is carried out in the spatial domain and Frequency domain. The performance of interleaving in the spatial, Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) coefficients is studied. Differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) is employed for data compression as well as encryption and results are tabulated for a specific example. RESULTS: It can be seen from results, the process does not affect the picture quality. This is attributed to the fact that the change in LSB of a pixel changes its brightness by 1 part in 256. Spatial and DFT domain interleaving gave very less %NRMSE as compared to DCT and DWT domain. CONCLUSION: The Results show that spatial domain the interleaving, the %NRMSE was less than 0.25% for 8-bit encoded pixel intensity. Among the frequency domain interleaving methods, DFT was found to be very efficient
Study on high Performance and Effective Watermarking Scheme using Hybrid Transform (DCT-DWT)
Nowadays healthcare infrastructure depends on Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS),Picture archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) as these provide new ways to store, access and distribute medical data . It eliminates the security risk. Conversely, these developments have introduced new risks for unsuitable deployment of medical information flowing in open networks, provided the effortlessness with which digital content can be manipulated. It is renowned that the integrity and confidentiality of medical data is a serious topic for ethical and legal reasons. Medical images need to be kept intact in any condition and prior to any operation as well need to be checked for integrity and verification. Watermarking is a budding technology that is capable of assisting this aim. In recent times, frequency domain watermarking algorithms have gained immense importance due to their widespread use. Subsequently, the watermark embedding and extraction are performed in frequency domain using the presented scheme. The proposed watermarking scheme, the watermark extraction compared with the original image for calculating SSIM.The effectiveness of the proposed watermarking scheme is demonstrated with the aid of experimental results
