The “14th Five-Year Plan” clearly puts forward the implementation of “1+X” certificate system to further promote the long-term development of vocational and technical education. Therefore, in view of the problems such as the lack of targeted professional talent cultivation program, irrational structure of teacher team and lack of teaching resources in the development of infant and child care service and management in higher vocational colleges and universities, higher vocational colleges and universities should formulate the dual-oriented training objectives of talent demand and “1+X” certificate, construct a step-by-step curriculum system with the core of competency enhancement, promote the diversification of teachers’ sources, and expand the resources of school-enterprise cooperation of “medical and education integration”, so as to build a “four-stage gradual” child care talent cultivation mode and cultivate complex technical and skillful child care talents

A qualitative investigation of parental aspirations to international education in China

The 2020s witnessed a scene in terms of health, international relations, and policies. This article inquires into the shifting landscape of decision to international education in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Shuangjian and other recently enacted educational policies point to a trend in decentralization of English language and discouragement of mass liberal education in the Chinese context. While covid does not bring about a decrease in number of Chinese students studying in western countries in these two years, there is pervasive concerns surrounding health, safety, and discrimination that cloud student and parents’ decision-making. China’s world class university movement witnesses a rise in Chinese universities on global university rankings (GURs) schemes and China’s emergence as a regional education hub attracting international students. With the increasing uncertainty in pursuing an international degree and growing quality in domestic education, this article explores shifting parental aspirations for international education in Shanghai

A Comparison Between the Higher Educational Systems in Mainland China and Taiwan

    Get PDF
Both Mainland China and Taiwan attach much importance to higher education. The two sides always try hard to develop higher education. This is one of China\u27s deep-rooted traditional ideas and concepts. Since 1949, the two sides have been politically opposite, economically sealed from each other, and the contact between the people has been minimized . The two sides developed their own higher educational systems, respectively, according to the specific conditions and needs of the two varied societies. The purpose of this study was to compare the higher educational systems in Mainland China and Taiwan, focusing on the similarities and differences between the two. The desired outcome of this study was to facilitate the communication and cooperation between both China and Taiwan in the international community of higher education and promote the development and reform of higher educational business within both entities. This study carried out the following four aspects in order: 1. It described both higher educational systems and conducted a brief historical analysis of how they developed . 2. It described the higher educational systems of both countries, as they exist today. 3. It revealed the strengths and weaknesses, and similarities and differences of each system. 4. It showed how the political, economic, cultural and technological factors in the society and environment of both sides have affected the higher education systems and how those elements contributed to making them what they are today. Through the investigation of these four aspects, this study found: 1. Common features of higher educational systems on both sides of the Taiwan Strait exceed differences . 2. Attaching importance to and developing higher education are long time policies that Taiwan and Mainland China both adhere to. 3. The political factors still have an impact on the exchanges and cooperation in the educational fields between the two sides. 4. The reform of higher educational systems of the two countries brings about more opportunities for countries with more highly developed educational systems to participate and invest in both sides. 5. The extent of higher education reform of both sides is different. 6. Increasing exchanges and improving cooperation are indispensable for the future cooperative development of higher education between the two sides

Reforming Immigration Law to Allow More Foreign Student Entrepreneurs to Launch Job-Creating Ventures in the United States

    Get PDF
As universities move toward a more experiential approach to entrepreneurship education, many academic units and cross-campus entrepreneurship programs are encouraging their students to actively engage with the curriculum and apply the skills they learn. One such approach is to have students start their own businesses before they graduate. In addition to enhancing their education, participation in the planning, launch and operation of a start-up venture can lead directly to the creation of new jobs for many other individuals. Unfortunately, being the founder of a start-up venture in the United States proves complicated for foreign students in our colleges and universities. Across the country, both undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship students desiring to participate actively in a startup face vexing immigration law challenges. This paper outlines some of the barriers that foreign student entrepreneurs face, and describes how bipartisan legislation would help to address some of these roadblocks
