LCG MCDB -- a Knowledgebase of Monte Carlo Simulated Events

    Get PDF
In this paper we report on LCG Monte Carlo Data Base (MCDB) and software which has been developed to operate MCDB. The main purpose of the LCG MCDB project is to provide a storage and documentation system for sophisticated event samples simulated for the LHC collaborations by experts. In many cases, the modern Monte Carlo simulation of physical processes requires expert knowledge in Monte Carlo generators or significant amount of CPU time to produce the events. MCDB is a knowledgebase mainly dedicated to accumulate simulated events of this type. The main motivation behind LCG MCDB is to make the sophisticated MC event samples available for various physical groups. All the data from MCDB is accessible in several convenient ways. LCG MCDB is being developed within the CERN LCG Application Area Simulation project

Technical Requirements Analysis and Control Systems (TRACS) Initial Operating Capability (IOC) documentation

    Get PDF
The Technical Requirements Analysis and Control Systems (TRACS) software package is described. TRACS offers supplemental tools for the analysis, control, and interchange of project requirements. This package provides the fundamental capability to analyze and control requirements, serves a focal point for project requirements, and integrates a system that supports efficient and consistent operations. TRACS uses relational data base technology (ORACLE) in a stand alone or in a distributed environment that can be used to coordinate the activities required to support a project through its entire life cycle. TRACS uses a set of keyword and mouse driven screens (HyperCard) which imposes adherence through a controlled user interface. The user interface provides an interactive capability to interrogate the data base and to display or print project requirement information. TRACS has a limited report capability, but can be extended with PostScript conventions

Orbiter Flying Qualities (OFQ) Workstation user's guide

    Get PDF
This project was devoted to the development of a software package, called the Orbiter Flying Qualities (OFQ) Workstation, for working with the OFQ Archives which are specially selected sets of space shuttle entry flight data relevant to flight control and flying qualities. The basic approach to creation of the workstation software was to federate and extend commercial software products to create a low cost package that operates on personal computers. Provision was made to link the workstation to large computers, but the OFQ Archive files were also converted to personal computer diskettes and can be stored on workstation hard disk drives. The primary element of the workstation developed in the project is the Interactive Data Handler (IDH) which allows the user to select data subsets from the archives and pass them to specialized analysis programs. The IDH was developed as an application in a relational database management system product. The specialized analysis programs linked to the workstation include a spreadsheet program, FREDA for spectral analysis, MFP for frequency domain system identification, and NIPIP for pilot-vehicle system parameter identification. The workstation also includes capability for ensemble analysis over groups of missions

Development of a web-based information system for cascading utilisation of construction materials

This paper presents a Web-based information system for promoting the cascading utilisation of construction materials in order to mitigate the increasing environmental pressure by the construction industry. First, this paper points out me weaknesses of current waste material exchange systems. Then, a new approach is introduced to reuse demolished materials, by which the utilisation of demolished materials may be ascertained before the demolition is actually produced.. Information technologies, including web-based intelligent and distributed systems, are applied to actua1ise this approach. Finally, the development and implementation of the system is described in detail.<br /

RETAIL HEALTH & SAFETY DIGITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    Get PDF
Health and Safety procedures and documentations are one of the many tasks that need to be done by a small retail shop, they are also one of the most difficult things to manage daily as all those can build up during the day/week. Inside Health and Safety there are many subcategories that need to be administered (maintenances, trainings and checklists for example) which can be very overwhelming for any management team notably in small retail shops as they do not have the permanent personnel to be able to maintain an organised system. This project aims to create a management software to assist a business to conduct all those procedures in an easier and more efficient manner

Towards hypermedia support in database systems

    Get PDF
The general goal of our research is to automatically generate links and other hypermedia related services to analytical applications. Using a dynamic hypermedia engine (DHE), the following features have been automated for database systems. Based on the database\u27s relational (physical) schema and its original (non-normalized) entity-relationship specification links are generated, database application developers may also specify the relationship between different classes of database elements. These elements can be controlled by the same or different database application, or even by another software system. A DHE prototype has been developed and illustrates the above for a relational database management system. The DHE is the only approach to automated linking that specializes in adding a hyperlinks automatically to analytical applications that generate their displays dynamically (e.g., as the result of a user query). The DHE\u27s linking is based on the structure of the application, not keyword search or lexical analysis based on the display values within its screens and documents. The DHE aims to provide hypermedia functionality without altering applications by building application wrappers as an intermediary between the applications and the engine

Reactome Advanced Knowledgebase Search and Pathway Visualization Prototype App

    Get PDF
The goal of this project is to prototype an app that allows users to search and visualize the Reactome knowledgebase. The Reactome ontology contains biological pathways, their components, and interactions. The app allows the user to construct search criteria across multiple ontological concepts and their specific relationships, whereas existing Reactome search tools cannot. The app also re-creates pathway visualizations. This work could serve as a basis for visualizing these pathways in custom use cases not met by the official tools
