Optimal coloured perceptrons
Ashkin-Teller type perceptron models are introduced. Their maximal capacity
per number of couplings is calculated within a first-step
replica-symmetry-breaking Gardner approach. The results are compared with
extensive numerical simulations using several algorithms.Comment: 8 pages in Latex with 2 eps figures, RSB1 calculations has been adde
Ensemble learning of linear perceptron; Online learning theory
Within the framework of on-line learning, we study the generalization error
of an ensemble learning machine learning from a linear teacher perceptron. The
generalization error achieved by an ensemble of linear perceptrons having
homogeneous or inhomogeneous initial weight vectors is precisely calculated at
the thermodynamic limit of a large number of input elements and shows rich
behavior. Our main findings are as follows. For learning with homogeneous
initial weight vectors, the generalization error using an infinite number of
linear student perceptrons is equal to only half that of a single linear
perceptron, and converges with that of the infinite case with O(1/K) for a
finite number of K linear perceptrons. For learning with inhomogeneous initial
weight vectors, it is advantageous to use an approach of weighted averaging
over the output of the linear perceptrons, and we show the conditions under
which the optimal weights are constant during the learning process. The optimal
weights depend on only correlation of the initial weight vectors.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Physical Review
A neural network approach to audio-assisted movie dialogue detection
A novel framework for audio-assisted dialogue detection based on indicator functions and neural networks is investigated. An indicator function defines that an actor is present at a particular time instant. The cross-correlation function of a pair of indicator functions and the magnitude of the corresponding cross-power spectral density are fed as input to neural networks for dialogue detection. Several types of artificial neural networks, including multilayer perceptrons, voted perceptrons, radial basis function networks, support vector machines, and particle swarm optimization-based multilayer perceptrons are tested. Experiments are carried out to validate the feasibility of the aforementioned approach by using ground-truth indicator functions determined by human observers on 6 different movies. A total of 41 dialogue instances and another 20 non-dialogue instances is employed. The average detection accuracy achieved is high, ranging between 84.78%±5.499% and 91.43%±4.239%
Dynamics of Interacting Neural Networks
The dynamics of interacting perceptrons is solved analytically. For a
directed flow of information the system runs into a state which has a higher
symmetry than the topology of the model. A symmetry breaking phase transition
is found with increasing learning rate. In addition it is shown that a system
of interacting perceptrons which is trained on the history of its minority
decisions develops a good strategy for the problem of adaptive competition
known as the Bar Problem or Minority Game.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures; typos corrected, content reorganize
Properties of an invariant set of weights of perceptrons
In this paper, the dynamics of weights of perceptrons are investigated based on the perceptron training algorithm. In particular, the condition that the system map is not injective is derived. Based on the derived condition, an invariant set that results to a bijective invariant map is characterized. Also, it is shown that some weights outside the invariant set will be moved to the invariant set. Hence, the invariant set is attracting. Computer numerical simulation results on various perceptrons with exhibiting various behaviors, such as fixed point behaviors, limit cycle behaviors and chaotic behaviors, are illustrated
