    An analytical multicriteria model based on graph theory for reliability enhancement in distribution electrical networks

    The electrical distribution network is a critical and complex system in terms of safety and reliability, because it is composed of different components (switches, reclosers, etc.). The improvement of its reliability is therefore one of the most important tasks through the good management of remote-controlled switches and reclosers in this network. This paper presents an analytical model based on graph theory to evaluate SAIDI and SAIFI indices based on the network architecture and the location of remote-controlled reclosers and switches. These indicators have been used to formalize a multi-objective mathematical model that respects the real operation constraints of equipments in smart grid. The applied model, in this article, was evaluated on an IEEE 13 bus network using the TOPSIS method to determine the optimal location of the switches and reclosers and to improve the overall reliability of the distribution network

    La incorporación de los vehículos eléctricos (BEV por sus siglas en Ingles) en la movilidad urbana se incrementa cada día en diferentes ciudades del mundo y la demanda de estaciones de recarga para BEV (EVCS por sus siglas en Ingles) también aumenta. Dentro de las redes eléctricas inteligentes no solo se encuentra involucrado la incorporación de generación distribuida, telecomunicaciones entre otras tecnologías, también la integración de EVCS es una parte importante que influye en el desempeño de la red eléctrica. Una adecuada planificación para ubicar EVCS evalúa criterios de diferentes áreas que no se relacionan entre sí, pero son parte del problema en general. Esta investigación propone la aplicación de métodos de toma de decisión multicriterio (MCDM por sus siglas en Ingles) para resolver problemas de panificación para ubicar EVCS. Para ello se ha elegido como alternativas al número de estaciones de suministro de combustible que existen dentro de la ciudad de Cuenca. También se ha determinado criterios y subcriterios en base a la información disponible, los mismos ayudan a plantear tres escenarios a partir de la variación de sus pesos. En el primer escenario se aplica el método de pesos iguales, en el segundo se valora los subcriterios por medio de una encuesta a profesionales y se aplica el método AHP. Mientras que para el tercero se utiliza las mismas valoraciones de las encuestas, pero se utiliza el método AHP-FUZZY. Finalmente se aplica los métodos VIKOR, TOPSIS y PROMETHEE para jerarquizar las alternativas desde la mejor a la peor en cada escenario, para determinar el emplazamiento de EVCS. Tres alternativas han permanecido entre los tres primeros lugares en 7 de las 9 evaluaciones que se han realizado. Al no existir un resultado concluyente se procede a realizar un análisis estadístico que permitió fortalecer el proceso de decisión y llegar a un resultado favorable.The incorporation of electric vehicles (BEV) in urban mobility is increasing every day in different cities around the world and the demand for BEV charging stations (EVCS) is also increasing. Within smart electrical networks, not only is the incorporation of distributed generation, telecommunications, among other technologies, involved, but also the integration of EVCS is an important part that influences the performance of the electrical network. Proper planning to locate EVCS evaluates criteria from different areas that are not related to each other, but are part of the overall problem. This research proposes the application of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods to solve planning problems to locate EVCS. For this reason, the number of fuel supply stations that exist within the city of Cuenca has been chosen as an alternative. Also, criteria and sub-criteria have been determined based on the available information, which help to propose three scenarios based on the variation of their weightings. In the first scenario, the equal weights method is applied, in the second, the subcriteria are assessed through a survey of professionals and the AHP method is applied. While for the third the same evaluations of the surveys are used, but the AHP-FUZZY method is used. Finally, the VIKOR, TOPSIS and PROMETHEE methods are applied to rank the alternatives from the best to the worst in each scenario, to determine the location of EVCS. Three alternatives have remained in the top three places in 7 of the 9 evaluations performed.     An Investigation into Factors Affecting the Chilled Food Industry

    With the advent of Industry 4.0, many new approaches towards process monitoring, benchmarking and traceability are becoming available, and these techniques have the potential to radically transform the agri-food sector. In particular, the chilled food supply chain (CFSC) contains a number of unique challenges by virtue of it being thought of as a temperature controlled supply chain. Therefore, once the key issues affecting the CFSC have been identified, algorithms can be proposed, which would allow realistic thresholds to be established for managing these problems on the micro, meso and macro scales. Hence, a study is required into factors affecting the CFSC within the scope of Industry 4.0. The study itself has been broken down into four main topics: identifying the key issues within the CFSC; implementing a philosophy of continuous improvement within the CFSC; identifying uncertainty within the CFSC; improving and measuring the performance of the supply chain. However, as a consequence of this study two further topics were added: a discussion of some of the issues surrounding information sharing between retailers and suppliers; some of the wider issues affecting food losses and wastage (FLW) on the micro, meso and macro scales. A hybrid algorithm is developed, which incorporates the analytic hierarchical process (AHP) for qualitative issues and data envelopment analysis (DEA) for quantitative issues. The hybrid algorithm itself is a development of the internal auditing algorithm proposed by Sueyoshi et al (2009), which in turn was developed following corporate scandals such as Tyco, Enron, and WorldCom, which have led to a decline in public trust. However, the advantage of the proposed solution is that all of the key issues within the CFSC identified can be managed from a single computer terminal, whilst the risk of food contamination such as the 2013 horsemeat scandal can be avoided via improved traceability

    More Important Than Their Money Offering: The Application of Action Research, ANP and TOPSIS to Real Estate Investing

    This thesis examines the supplier selection process of non-institutional financial capital suppliers by small-scale real estate investing organizations and focuses specifically on the key criterion that real estate investing companies should seek when selecting and evaluating potential suppliers to promote an ideal partnership. These partnerships can provide the real estate investing organizations with vital capital access that allows business growth, larger transaction sizes, and greater volume but can be detrimental if the partners are ill-matched. Without a reputation or industry experience, many novice real estate investors are unaware of what qualities are most important to pursue when forming these critical relationships and simply accept any partner willing to provide capital. By using Action Research and quantitative methodologies of Analytical Network Process (ANP) and TOPSIS, this thesis documents the development of a start-up, solo-entrepreneurial investing organization and the actionable creation of an organizational supplier onboarding tool. The study surveys nineteen real estate industry expert participants and ultimately highlights six criterions as most important when selecting and evaluating potential financial capital suppliers: trustworthiness, motivation, quality of past experience, collateral and capacity, risk tolerance and risk appetite, and responsiveness. Using these findings, the entrepreneurial organization successfully develops and launches a free, online personalized questionnaire service for the benefit of both the future potential financial suppliers and the investing organization that strengthens partner communication, clarifies organizational culture and business development, and promotes overall service supply chain growth
