Improved global robust asymptotic stability criteria for delayed cellular neural networks
This paper considers the problem of global robust stability analysis of delayed cellular neural networks (DCNNs) with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. In terms of a linear matrix inequality, a new sufficient condition ensuring a nominal DCNN to have a unique equilibrium point which is globally asymptotically stable is proposed. This condition is shown to be a generalization and improvement over some previous criteria. Based on the stability result, a robust stability condition is developed, which contains an existing robust stability result as a special case. An example is provided to demonstrate the reduced conservativeness of the proposed results. Ā© 2005 IEEE.published_or_final_versio
A new criterion of delay-dependent asymptotic stability for Hopfield neural networks with time delay
In this brief, the problem of global asymptotic stability for delayed Hopfield neural networks (HNNs) is investigated. A new criterion of asymptotic stability is derived by introducing a new kind of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and is formulated in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI), which can be readily solved via standard software. This new criterion based on a delay fractioning approach proves to be much less conservative and the conservatism could be notably reduced by thinning the delay fractioning. An example is provided to show the effectiveness and the advantage of the proposed result. Ā© 2008 IEEE.published_or_final_versio
Analysis of global asymptotic stability and pseudo almost periodic solution of a class of chaotic neural networks
In this paper we give sufficient conditions ensuring the existence and uniqueness of pseudo almost periodic solution of a class of delayed chaotic neural networks. Further, we study the global asymptotic stability (GAS) of the considered model and give a set of criteria on (GAS) by constructing new Lyapunov functional
Stability analysis for delayed quaternion-valued neural networks via nonlinear measure approach
In this paper, the existence and stability analysis of the quaternion-valued neural networks (QVNNs) with time delay are considered. Firstly, the QVNNs are equivalently transformed into four real-valued systems. Then, based on the Lyapunov theory, nonlinear measure approach, and inequality technique, some sufficient criteria are derived to ensure the existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium point as well as global stability of delayed QVNNs. In addition, the provided criteria are presented in the form of linear matrix inequality (LMI), which can be easily checked by LMI toolbox in MATLAB. Finally, two simulation examples are demonstrated to verify the effectiveness of obtained results. Moreover, the less conservatism of the obtained results is also showed by two comparison examples
Stability and pinning synchronization analysis of fractional order delayed CohenāGrossberg neural networks with discontinuous activations
This article, we explore the asymptotic stability and asymptotic synchronization analysis of fractional order delayed CohenāGrossberg neural networks with discontinuous neuron activation functions (FCGNNDDs). First, under the framework of Filippov theory and differ- ential inclusion theoretical analysis, the global existence of Filippov solution for FCGNNDDs is studied by means of the given growth condition. Second, by virtue of suitable Lyapunov functional, Young inequality and comparison theorem for fractional order delayed linear system, some global asymptotic stability conditions for such system is derived by limiting discontinuous neuron activations. Third, the global asymptotic synchronization condition for FCGNNDDs is obtained based on the pinning control. At last, two numerical simula- tions are given to verify the theoretical findings.N/
Robust stability for stochastic Hopfield neural networks with time delays
This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright 2006 Elsevier Ltd.In this paper, the asymptotic stability analysis problem is considered for a class of uncertain stochastic neural networks with time delays and parameter uncertainties. The delays are time-invariant, and the uncertainties are norm-bounded that enter into all the network parameters. The aim of this paper is to establish easily verifiable conditions under which the delayed neural network is robustly asymptotically stable in the mean square for all admissible parameter uncertainties. By employing a LyapunovāKrasovskii functional and conducting the stochastic analysis, a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach is developed to derive the stability criteria. The proposed criteria can be checked readily by using some standard numerical packages, and no tuning of parameters is required. Examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed criteria. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Nuffield Foundation of the UK under Grant NAL/00630/G, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of German

The individual neural network is subject to parameter uncertainty, stochastic disturbance, and time-varying delay, where the norm-bounded parameter uncertainties exist in both the state and weight matrices, the stochastic disturbance is in the form of a scalar Wiener process, and the time delay enters into the activation function. For the array of coupled neural networks, the constant coupling and delayed coupling are simultaneously considered. We aim to establish easy-to-verify conditions under which the addressed neural networks are synchronized. By using the Kronecker product as an effective tool, a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach is developed to derive several sufficient criteria ensuring the coupled delayed neural networks to be globally, robustly, exponentially synchronized in the mean square. The LMI-based conditions obtained are dependent not only on the lower bound but also on the upper bound of the time-varying delay, and can be solved efficiently via the Matlab LMI Toolbox. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed synchronization scheme
Stochastic stability of uncertain Hopfield neural networks with discrete and distributed delays
This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright 2006 Elsevier Ltd.This Letter is concerned with the global asymptotic stability analysis problem for a class of uncertain stochastic Hopfield neural networks with discrete and distributed time-delays. By utilizing a LyapunovāKrasovskii functional, using the well-known S-procedure and conducting stochastic analysis, we show that the addressed neural networks are robustly, globally, asymptotically stable if a convex optimization problem is feasible. Then, the stability criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be effectively solved by some standard numerical packages. The main results are also extended to the multiple time-delay case. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed global stability condition. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Nuffield Foundation of the UK under Grant NAL/00630/G, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

A delay-dependent LMI approach to dynamics analysis of discrete-time recurrent neural networks with time-varying delays
This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright 2007 Elsevier Ltd.In this Letter, the analysis problem for the existence and stability of periodic solutions is investigated for a class of general discrete-time recurrent neural networks with time-varying delays. For the neural networks under study, a generalized activation function is considered, and the traditional assumptions on the boundedness, monotony and differentiability of the activation functions are removed. By employing the latest free-weighting matrix method, an appropriate LyapunovāKrasovskii functional is constructed and several sufficient conditions are established to ensure the existence, uniqueness, and globally exponential stability of the periodic solution for the addressed neural network. The conditions are dependent on both the lower bound and upper bound of the time-varying time delays. Furthermore, the conditions are expressed in terms of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be checked numerically using the effective LMI toolbox in MATLAB. Two simulation examples are given to show the effectiveness and less conservatism of the proposed criteria. This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 50608072, an International Joint Project sponsored by the Royal Society of the UK and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

By choosing to view this document, you agree to all provisions of the copyright laws protecting it.In this letter, the state estimation problem is studied for neural networks with time-varying delays. The interconnection matrix and the activation functions are assumed to be norm-bounded. The problem addressed is to estimate the neuron states, through available output measurements, such that for all admissible time-delays, the dynamics of the estimation error is globally exponentially stable. An effective linear matrix inequality approach is developed to solve the neuron state estimation problem. In particular, we derive the conditions for the existence of the desired estimators for the delayed neural networks. We also parameterize the explicit expression of the set of desired estimators in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, it is shown that the main results can be easily extended to cope with the traditional stability analysis problem for delayed neural networks. Numerical examples are included to illustrate the applicability of the proposed design method
