P Systems with Adjoining Controlled Communication Rules
This paper proposes a new model of P systems where the rules are activated
by objects present in the neighboring regions. We obtain the computational completeness
considering only two membranes, external inhibitors and carriers. Leaving the carriers
apart we obtain equality with ET0L systems in terms of number sets
Incremental syntax generation with tree adjoining grammars
With the increasing capacity of AI systems the design of human--computer interfaces has become a favorite research topic in AI. In this paper we focus on aspects of the output of a computer. The architecture of a sentence generation component -- embedded in the WIP system -- is described. The main emphasis is laid on the motivation for the incremental style of processing and the encoding of adequate linguistic units as rules of a Lexicalized Tree Adjoining Grammar with Unification
Dynamic Distribution Simulation Model Objects Based on Knowledge
This paper presents the process of load balancing in simulation system Triad.Net, the architecture of
load balancing subsystem. The main features of static and dynamic load balancing are discussed and new
approach, controlled dynamic load balancing, needed for regular mapping of simulation model on the network of
computers is proposed. The paper considers linguistic constructions of Triad language for different load balancing

Global Thresholding and Multiple Pass Parsing
We present a variation on classic beam thresholding techniques that is up to
an order of magnitude faster than the traditional method, at the same
performance level. We also present a new thresholding technique, global
thresholding, which, combined with the new beam thresholding, gives an
additional factor of two improvement, and a novel technique, multiple pass
parsing, that can be combined with the others to yield yet another 50%
improvement. We use a new search algorithm to simultaneously optimize the
thresholding parameters of the various algorithms.Comment: Fixed latex errors; fixed minor errors in published versio
Pauses and the temporal structure of speech
Natural-sounding speech synthesis requires close control over the temporal structure of the speech flow. This includes a full predictive scheme for the durational structure and in particuliar the prolongation of final syllables of lexemes as well as for the pausal structure in the utterance. In this chapter, a description of the temporal structure and the summary of the numerous factors that modify it are presented. In the second part, predictive schemes for the temporal structure of speech ("performance structures") are introduced, and their potential for characterising the overall prosodic structure of speech is demonstrated
Incremental syntactic generation of natural language with tree adjoining grammars
This document combines the basic ideas of my master´s thesis - which has been developped within the WIP project - with new results from my work as a member of WIP, as far as they concern the integration and further development of the implemented system. ISGT (in German \u27Inkrementeller Syntaktischer Generierer natürlicher Sprache mit TAGs´) is a syntactic component for a text generation system and is based on Tree Adjoining Grammars. It is lexically guided and consists of two levels of syntactic processing: A component that computes the hierarchical structure of the sentence under construction (hierarchical level) and a component that computes the word position and utters the sentence (positional level). The central aim of this work has been to design a syntactic generator that computes sentences in an incremental fashion. The realization of the incremental syntactic generator has been supported by a distributed parallel model that is used to speed up the computation of single parts of the sentence
QUICK-GEOMETRY, a rapid response method for mathematically modeling configuration geometry
The philosophy, development, and various applications of the QUICK-GEOMETRY system were outlined. This system provides a practical method for developing the geometry models that are essential to the operation of computer-based design and manufacturing systems. Of particular interest are the various methods for modeling surface geometry that are used by aerodynamic analysis codes
