This paper describes a novel proposal based on a real time agent to detect and block denial of service attacks within web services environments. The real time agent incorporates a classification mechanism based on a Case-Base Reasoning (CBR) model, where the different CBR phases are time bounded. In addition, the reuse phase of the CBR cycle incorporates a mixture of experts to choose a specific technique of classification depending on the feature of the attack and the available time to solve the classification. This paper describes a novel proposal based on a real time agent to detect and block denial of service attacks within web services environments. CBR (California Bearing Ratio) data is used to find out the level of subgrade density, so that a safe pavement thickness can be planned. The calculation of the CBR (California Bearing Ratio) can be done by testing CBR laboratory and DCP. CBR results have a high effect on the surface layer, so that the layer becomes thinner. This condition, if converted to the working price, will be more affordable and efficient. Therefore, this study aims to compare the results of laboratory CBR and Field Cbr (Dcp) to the thickness of flexible pavements in the Development of Trans South-South Java Road Project (TRSS) Lot 8 Jarit - Puger. The method used is Bina Marga Pd T-01-2002-B. Secondary data obtained by weigh bridges and service providers, namely PT. Brantas Abipraya (Persero). Field CBR value using DCP tool is 25.19% while Laboratory CBR value is 21.616%. The results of pavement thickness using Field CBR values for UR 10 years are D1 7.5 cm, D2 10cm, for UR 20 years D1 10 cm, D2 11 cm, for UR 30 years D1 11 cm, D2 12 cm, and for UR 40 years obtained D1 13 cm, D2 14 cm. The greater the CBR value, the thinner the pavement thickness.CBR (California Bearing Ratio) data is used to find out the level of subgrade density, so that a safe pavement thickness can be planned. Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR) emerged as a response to the failure of the conventional rehabilitation system in developing countries. CBR involves service provision to People with Disabilities (PWDs), changing community attitudes towards disability and transferring knowledge and skills to PWDs, their families and their community. The study investigated the impact of the CBR strategy on PWDs and their families within the Oniipa Constituency in Namibia. The study used a mixed methods research approach and adopted explorative and descriptive research designs. It determined that CBR has initiated positive change processes in community attitudes and increased social integration of PWDs. The study recommends reviewing the definition of CBR, providing financial incentives to CBR Volunteer Workers and reviewing the current legislations on disability in Namibia. A final recommendation is that government should formalise disability studies in the country through the provision of accredited training courses to ensure greater assistance to PWDs and their families.Public AdministrationM.P.A

Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) is a multi-sectoral approach tomeeting the health, education, vocational skills and livelihood needsof children, youth and adults with disabilities, primarily in developingcountries. Chapter 1 provides information about important concepts associated with CBR programmes and about contextual factors that need to be considered by CBR practitioners. Chapter 2, Skills and work basics, explores the various types of skills that need to be included in training programmes for disabled people and how these skills are effectively applied in the workplace.Chapter 3, CBR and skills development, outlines practical strategies for developing skills for employment and for operating a small business. It includes a number of case studies illustrating good practice.Chapter 4, CBR and livelihoods, gives tips on how to build relationships withemployers and employer organizations that can result in successful jobplacements, on-the job training, work trials or other forms of collaboration. Chapter 5, Building support in the community, provides guidance on how toimprove the effectiveness of CBR programmes by building partnerships with mainstream agencies, NGOS and service organizations. Supporting self-help groups of disabled people is also explored.Chapter 6 summarizes the guide’s key messages for CBR practitioners. Case studies illustrating good practice are included throughout

Disentangling the effects of customer-based corporate reputation on business-to-customer relationships: direct, mediated and moderated effects

The extant literature provides a limited understanding of the role of customer-based corporate reputation (CBR) in business-to-customer relationships. Cognitive CBR and affective CBR are two distinct attitudinal components of CBR. However, research into CBR largely neglects to test the separate effects of both CBR components on business-to-customer relationships. In particular, the affective aspects of CBR have been underrated in comparison with the cognitive aspects of CBR in the conceptualization of CBR as a whole. The underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of the effects of the CBR components on business-to-customer relationships also invite researchers’ attention to better explain how these effects operate and how different circumstances influence these effects. This study, therefore, distinguishes between both the cognitive and affective components of CBR to investigate their relative effects on business-to-customer relationships, and examines the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of such effects. For this purpose, customer trust, customer commitment, intentional loyalty, and customer perceived risk are adopted as representative constructs of business-to-customer relationships, from the existing literature. This study developed a conceptual model comprising of 21 hypotheses representing the inter-construct effects. Quantitative methodology was adopted to test the model. For this purpose, a systematic sample of 1059 customers was surveyed from the fast-food services industry in Pakistan. By disentangling the effects of CBR on business-to-customer relationships, this study makes several theoretical contributions. First, this study reveals that cognitive CBR and affective CBR have differential effects on business-to-customer relationships. Second, this study extends the application of social exchange theory into the areas of corporate reputation and business-to-customer exchanges by identifying that the underrated affective component of CBR has a strong impact on business-to-customer relationships. Third, this study explicates the mechanisms through which CBR affects business-to-customer relationships, by analysing the role of mediating factors that explain the effects of both CBR components on intentional loyalty. Fourth, this study finds relationship age as an important moderator (i.e. boundary condition) for the effects of CBR on business-to-customer relationships. Fifth, drawing on the international business perspective, this study theorizes and tests the moderating effects of firm type (local versus MNEs) for the impacts of CBR components on business-to-customer relationships. The findings help the service providers to better understand the ways in which CBR may affect their relationship marketing activities. The findings also suggest some useful implications in the areas of integrated marketing communication, customer segmentation, and international business management

[From Introduction] Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) promotes collaboration among community leaders, people with disabilities, their families, and other concerned citizens to provide equal opportunities for all people with disabilities in the community. The CBR strategy, initiated two and a half decades ago, continues to promote the rights and participation of people with disabilities and to strengthen the role of their organizations (DPOs) in countries around the world

Changing CBR Concepts in Indonesia: Learning from Programme Evaluation

    Get PDF
[Excerpt] CBR programmes are founded on basic ideas or concepts that vary significantly between countries and organizations. These ideas and concepts change through time as new information is obtained. Often trial-and-error experiences prove that the initial ideas were wrong. One of the best ways of examining the effectiveness of CBR programmes, and the concepts on which they are based, is through evaluation. This chapter draws on our experiences in Solo, Indonesia at the Community Based Rehabilitation Development and Training Centre (CBRDTC) to describe a process where changes in programmes and concepts have resulted from evaluation. This will hopefully help others to learn ways to change their own ideas, concepts and CBR programmes

With the rapid proliferation of Web services as the medium of choice to securely publish application services beyond the firewall, the importance of accurate, yet flexible matchmaking of similar services gains importance both for the human user and for dynamic composition engines. In this paper, we present a novel approach that utilizes the case based reasoning methodology for modelling dynamic Web service discovery and matchmaking. Our framework considers Web services execution experiences in the decision making process and is highly adaptable to the service requester constraints. The framework also utilises OWL semantic descriptions extensively for implementing both the components of the CBR engine and the matchmaking profile of the Web services
