Implementation of Adaptive Neural Networks Controller for NXT SCARA Robot System

    Get PDF
Several neural network controllers for robotic manipulators have been developed during the last decades due to their capability to learn the dynamic properties and the improvements in the global stability of the system. In this paper, an adaptive neural controller has been designed with self learning to resolve the problems caused by using a classical controller. A comparison between the improved unsupervised adaptive neural network controller and the P controller for the NXT SCARA robot system is done, and the result shows the improvement of the self learning controller to track the determined trajectory of robotic automated controllers with uncertainties. Implementation and practical results were designed to guarantee online real-time

Neural Dynamics Variations Observer Designed for Robot Manipulator Control Using a Novel Saturated Control Technique

    Get PDF
(is work presents a novel controller for the dynamics of robots using a dynamic variations observer. (e proposed controller uses a saturated control law based on sin(tg− 1(.)) function instead of tanh(.). Besides, this function is an alternative to the use of tanh(.) in saturation control, since it reaches its maximum value more gradually than the hyperbolic tangent function. Using this characteristic, the transition between states is smoother, with similar accuracy to tanh(.). (e controller is designed using a saturated SMC (sliding mode controller) and a dynamic variations observer based on GRNN (general regression neural network). (e originality of this work is the use of a combination of adaptive GRNN with a sliding mode controller (SMC) including a new saturation function. Finally, experiments based on trajectory tracking demonstrate the robustness and simplicity of this method.Fil: Rossomando, Francisco Guido. Universidad Nacional de San Juan. Facultad de Ingeniería. An Intelligent System Approach to the Dynamic Hybrid Robot Control

    Get PDF
The objective of this study was to solve the robot dynamic hybrid control problem using intelligent computational processes. In the course of problem- solving, biologically inspired models were used. This was because a robot can be seen as a physical intelligent system which interacts with the real world environment by means of its sensors and actuators. In the robot hybrid control method the neural networks, fuzzy logics and randomization strategies were used. To derive a complete intelligent state-of-the-art hybrid control system, several experiments were conducted in the study. Firstly an algorithm was formulated that can estimate the attracting basin boundary for a stable equilibrium point of a robot's kinematic nonlinear system. From this point the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) based solution approach was verified for the inverse kinematics solution. Secondly, for the intelligent trajectory generation approach, the segmented tree neural networks for each link (inverse kinematics solution) and the randomness with fuzziness (coping the unstructured environment from the cost function) were used. A one-pass smoothing algorithm was used to generate a practical smooth trajectory path in near real time. Finally, for the hybrid control system the task was decomposed into several individual intelligent control agents, where the task space was split into the position-controlled subspaces, the force-controlled subspaces and the uncertain hyper plane identification subspaces. The problem was considered as a blind-tracking task by a human

Genetic Algorithm-Based Optimisation of Fuzzy Logic Systems for Dynamic Modelling of Robots

    Get PDF
This paper reports a novel method for the choice and reduction of the training data set for dynamic modelling of robotic manipulators (RMs) by fuzzy logic systems (FLSs) that are evolved by a genetic algorithm (GA). A multi-population, multi-objective GA is used for structure evolution and optimisation of the FLSs and constants for the precise approximation of the dynamic model (DM) and the simplicity of the FLSs and the complete DM. The initial large set of training data is considerably reduced, while not loosing any of its representative quality

Applying RBF Neural Nets for Position Control of an Inter/Scara Robot

    Get PDF
This paper describes experimental results applying artificial neural networks to perform the position control of a real scara manipulator robot. The general control strategy consists of a neural controller that operates in parallel with a conventional controller based on the feedback error learning architecture. The main advantage of this architecture is that it does not require any modification of the previous conventional controller algorithm. MLP and RBF neural networks trained on-line have been used, without requiring any previous knowledge about the system to be controlled. These approach has performed very successfully, with better results obtained with the RBF networks when compared to PID and sliding mode positional controllers

Control Improvement of Low-Cost Cast Aluminium Robotic Arm Using Arduino Based Computed Torque Control

Gravity causes non-linearity in position control of an articulated industrial robotic arm. Especially for a joint position control of a robot’s shoulder and elbow that works parallel with the gravity direction. To overcome the problem, Computed Torque Control algorithm was implemented. This algorithm linearized the feedback, so a regular linear Proportional Derivative controller can be implemented. The contribution of this research is to find an effective controller to control a heavy weight low-cost robotic arm link/body using low-cost controller such as Arduino. A Computed Torque Control was implemented to control the shoulder joint of an articulated robotic arm. This joint is the most affected joint by the gravity. It works along the vertical plane, and loaded by the rest of the arm and the robot’s load. The proposed controller was compared to a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Controller and a Cascade PID Controller. The experiment showed that the Computed Torque Controller can control the position of the arm properly both in the direction along or against the gravity. A linear PID controller could not bring the arm to the set point when it moves against the gravity, but it works well when the arm moves in the opposite direction. A Cascade PID controller has an overshot when the arm moves along the gravity. But it works properly when it moves up against the gravity. A Computed Torque Control works well in both directions even in the presence of gravity force because it includes the gravity on its algorithm

Adaptive Robot Control - An Experimental Comparison

    Get PDF
This paper deals with experimental comparison between stable adaptive controllers of robotic manipulators based on Model Based Adaptive, Neural Network and Wavelet -Based control. The above control methods were compared with each other in terms of computational efficiency, need for accurate mathematical model of the manipulator and tracking performances. An original management algorithm of the Wavelet Network control scheme has been designed, with the aim of constructing the net automatically during the trajectory tracking, without the need to tune it to the trajectory itself. Experimental tests, carried out on a planar two link manipulator, show that the Wavelet-Based control scheme, with the new management algorithm, outperforms the conventional Model-Based schemes in the presence of structural uncertainties in the mathematical model of the robot, without pre-training and more efficiently than the Neural Network approach
