    In some classes, students take online tests and some types of network activity (for example trying to find the answers in www.google.com) will be considered as cheating during the exam. It would be useful if instructor could monitor online activities of each student to detect cheating. The goal of this project is to develop such a tool using client/server architecture. Tool should display the student\u27s hostname and the website visited during unauthorized web activity. Professor should able to see the applications opened by all students and he will have an option to view the log files of all the students during the session and also at the end of the session. The tool will display the student\u27s hostname during login and logout from the network

    With increasing amounts of software services provided to users and the more demanding requirements needed from them, monitoring of services is becoming increasingly important. Web service monitoring is the process of confirming system functionality by studying its various attributes, such as availability, reliability, and performance. Monitoring the services helps the software developers, maintainers and owners as they allow for increased reliability, robustness and possibly performance analysis. This thesis focuses on web service monitoring and the tools that it is done with. Specific goals are to learn about the different categories that monitoring services can take and to showcase a custom web service monitoring tool and its further development. The subject is important to the case company LogiNets, which has specific monitoring requirements that need to be fulfilled. These goals were achieved by researching literature on different types of monitoring tools for a literature review and then doing a case study of monitoring tool development. The case study was done about adding a new functionality to LogiNets’s indoor web service monitoring tool called Agent. The literature review was successful in identifying different categories of monitoring tools both by their location relative to the monitored service as well as by the quality of service requirements they fulfill. The review did not, however, discover significant research about existing commercial monitoring tools, and thus provided little help in the case study. The case study was more successful, with the new functionality added and similar extensions planned for the future

    Achieving the equilibrium between scalability, sustainability and security has prevailed as the ideal solution for decentralized blockchain applications over the last years. Several approaches have been proposed being Ethereum a solid proposal among them. Ethereum is on the path of a major protocol improvement called Ethereum 2.0 (Eth2), implementing Sharding and introducing the Proof-of-Stake (PoS). It implements a timed pattern matching algorithm that combines 1) features suited for online monitoring, and 2) acceleration by automata-based skipping.     Implementing Guided Inquiry Learning and Measuring Engagement Using an Electronic Health Record System in an Online Setting

    In many courses, practical hands-on experience is critical for knowledge construction. In the traditional lab setting, this construction is easy to observe through student engagement. But in an online virtual lab, there are some challenges to track student engagement. Given the continuing trend of increased enrollment in online courses, learning sciences need to address these challenges soon. To measure student engagement and actualize a social constructivist approach to team-based learning in the virtual lab setting, we developed a novel monitoring tool in an open-source electronic health records system (EHR). The Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) approach is used to engage students in learning. In this paper, we present the practice of POGIL and how the monitoring tool measures student engagement in two online courses in the interdisciplinary field of Health Information Management. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt at integrating POGIL to improve learning sciences in the EHR clinical practice. While clinicians spend over 52% of a patient visit time on computers (called desktop medicine), there is very little focus on learning sciences and pedagogy to train clinicians.     Development of monitoring tool by pharmacists

    Purpose: Drug side effects often lead to serious outcomes. Administration of second-generation antipsychotics has resulted in diabetic ketoacidosis and diabetic coma leading to death. Therefore, pharmacists are required to collect information on clinical test values, determine the appropriate test timing, and coordinate with doctors for further clinical laboratory orders, all of which are labor- and time-intensive tasks. In this study, we developed a side effect-monitoring tool and aimed to clarify the influence and efficiency of monitoring side effects by using the tool in patients taking atypical antipsychotics in whom it is necessary to check clinical test values such as blood sugar levels. Methods: We extracted clinical test values for patients treated with second-generation antipsychotics from electronic medical records. The test values are automatically displayed in the side effect grade classification specified by CTCAE ver. 4.0. A database was constructed using scripts to provide alerts for the timing of clinical testing. The pharmacist used this tool to confirm clinical test values for patients taking medication and requested the physician to inspect orders based on the appropriate test timings. Results: The management tool reduced the pharmacists’ effort in collecting information on patients’ prescription status and test values. It enabled patients to undergo tests at the appropriate time according to the progression of glucose metabolism and allowed for easy monitoring of side effects. Conclusion: The results suggested that regardless of pharmacists’ experience or skill, the introduction of this tool enables centralization of side-effect monitoring and can contribute to proper drug use
