A Mediation Framework for Mobile Web Service Provisioning
Web Services and mobile data services are the newest trends in information
systems engineering in wired and wireless domains, respectively. Web Services
have a broad range of service distributions while mobile phones have large and
expanding user base. To address the confluence of Web Services and pervasive
mobile devices and communication environments, a basic mobile Web Service
provider was developed for smart phones. The performance of this Mobile Host
was also analyzed in detail. Further analysis of the Mobile Host to provide
proper QoS and to check Mobile Host's feasibility in the P2P networks,
identified the necessity of a mediation framework. The paper describes the
research conducted with the Mobile Host, identifies the tasks of the mediation
framework and then discusses the feasible realization details of such a mobile

Mobile Life: A Research Foundation for Mobile Services
The telecom and IT industry is now facing the challenge of a second IT-revolution, where the
spread of mobile and ubiquitous services will have an even more profound effect on commercial
and social life than the recent Internet revolution. Users will expect services that are unique and
fully adapted for the mobile setting, which means that the roles of the operators will change, new
business models will be required, and new methods for developing and marketing services have
to be found. Most of all, we need technology and services that put people at core. The industry
must prepare to design services for a sustainable web of work, leisure and ubiquitous technology
we can call the mobile life. In this paper, we describe the main components of a research agenda
for mobile services, which is carried out at the Mobile Life Center at Stockholm University. This
research program takes a sustainable approach to research and development of mobile and
ubiquitous services, by combining a strong theoretical foundation (embodied interaction), a welldefined
methodology (user-centered design) and an important domain with large societal
importance and commercial potential (mobile life). Eventually the center will create an
experimental mobile services ecosystem, which will serve as an open arena where partners from
academia and industry can develop our vision an abundant future marketplace for future mobile servĂces
Acceptance of mobile services - insights from the Swedish market for mobile telephony
The main purpose of the paper is to investigate young peoplesâ perspectives on mobile services in order to shed light on the acceptance of mobile services. The knowledge of and interest in mobile services of individuals using such services is analyzed. A second objective is to investigate the reasons for using/not using mobile services. In-depth focus group interviews and secondary empirical data provide the main data. Concerning the youthâs general knowledge of and interest in mobile services, the results point to six things: young people show a low demand for many mobile services, there is a demand for extended, established mobile services, like SMS, the interest in the new services vary, there is low interest in active information search, there is little knowledge of the enabling technology, and the understanding of the pricing is generally low. As concerns reasons for and against usage of mobile services, results point to four central aspects: many individuals could present clearly defined needs for certain services, many indicated an interest in "community usage" of mobile services, they experienced the prices of mobile services to be a hinder for usage, and technology placed limitations on the usage. Mobile phone and e-government in Turkey: practices and technological choices at the cross-road
Enhanced data services through mobile phones are expected to be soon fully transactional and embedded within future mobile consumption practices. While private services will surely continue to take the lead, others such as government and NGOs will become more prominent m-players. It is not yet sure which form of technological standards will take the lead including enhance SMS based operations or Internet based specifically developed mobile phone applications. With the introduction of interactive transactions via mobile phones, currently untapped segment of the populations (without computers) have the potential to be accessed. Our research, as a reflection of the current market situation in an emerging country context, in the case of mobile phones analyzes the current needs or emergence of dependencies regarding the use of m/e-government services from the perspective of municipality officers. We contend that more research is needed to understand current preparatory bottlenecks and front loading activities to be able to encourage future intention to use e-government services through mobile phone technologies. Open-standards rich media mobile platform & rapid deployment service creation tool
This paper builds upon the work carried out by Brunel University in the field of "Fast Prototyping And Semi-automated User Interface And Application Generation for Converged Broadcast and Cellular Terminals" [1]. This work involved the development of a service creation application for interactive services on mobile devices and methodologies and tools to speed up and deskill the deployment process. This paper aims at further enhancing these tools and presents an enhanced open standards reference platform for mobile digital TV and rich media services. By using a Scalar Vector Graphics (SVG)-driven Java MIDP application (as opposed to bitmapped raster graphics-driven MHP), rich media services can be broadcast to mobile devices running various Java-supported platforms with a user interface scalable to any screen size. Moreover, the Rich Media Mobile Browser is integrated into a service creation tool, therefore enabling rapid testing and deployment of rich mobile media services.

Mobile banking as business strategy: Impact of mobile technologies on customer behaviour and its implications for banks
Mobile Commerce is gaining increasing acceptance amongst various sections of the society. This growth can be partly traced back to technological and demographical developments that have been influencing important aspects of the socio-cultural behaviour in today's world. The need/wish for mobility seems to be the driving force behind Mobile Commerce in general. Mobile Banking, availment of bank-related financial services via mobile devices, builds a cornerstone of Mobile Commerce. An empirical survey of customer acceptance conducted within the frame of our research clearly reveals a major, growing interest in Mobile Banking. However, since the degree of interest and the willingness to pay vary for individual services, it seems to be necessary to design specific services taking the needs and wishes of relevant target groups into consideration. Banks ought to therefore employ mobile channels with a clear business-focus. Context-aware QoS provisioning for an M-health service platform
Inevitably, healthcare goes mobile. Recently developed mobile healthcare (i.e., m-health) services allow healthcare professionals to monitor mobile patient's vital signs and provide feedback to this patient anywhere at any time. Due to the nature of current supporting mobile service platforms, m-health services are delivered with a best-effort, i.e., there are no guarantees on the delivered Quality of Service (QoS). In this paper, we argue that the use of context information in an m-health service platform improves the delivered QoS. We give a first attempt to merge context information with a QoS-aware mobile service platform in the m-health services domain. We illustrate this with an epilepsy tele-monitoring scenario
