This study examined the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of bank employees in the United States. The study was necessary, as bank customers are urging banks to go the extra mile or engage in OCB to improve customer service given the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected customers\u27 use of bank services. The study used the 20-item MLQ Form 5X-short for transformational leadership and the OCB instrument developed by Podsakoff et al. to collect data from bank employees in the National Capital Region (NCR) of the United States. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to analyze the data, and the results showed a statistically significant relationship between transformational leadership and OCB. The multiple regression analysis conducted to test the relationship between the dimensions of transformational leadership and OCB indicated that idealized influence (attributed) and idealized influence (behavior) with statistical significance at 5% and 10%, respectively, exerted the greatest influence in explaining changes in OCB. Overall, the coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.11) indicated that 11% of the variance in OCB was due to the five dimensions of transformational leadership. Based on the results, the study suggests that bank leaders may consider the practice of transformational leadership behaviors to promote the OCBs of employees. The findings also suggest that the aggregate effort of OCB could create better bank service delivery and improved customer satisfaction. These suggestions are supported by previous studies that show that organizations that promote OCB perform better than those that do not

The relevance of this study is determined by the problem of a technological gap between the Russian Federation and developed and rapidly developing countries, as well by insufficient effectiveness of the activities of technology parks in modern Russian science-based economy. Even though many techno-parks are functioning in the Russian Federation today, their performance indicators are not always satisfactory, which reduces the pace of innovative development of the state. Therefore, the work of modern Russian technology parks needs to be optimized, especially from the viewpoint of stimulating the development of science-intensive technologies. The purpose of this study is to identify the ways to improve the performance of the modern Russian techno-parks in creating and developing knowledge-intensive and innovative technologies. International experience in this field has been studied to achieve the objective of the study. Next, the authors conducted a comparative analysis (quantitative and qualitative) of documents (open sources, reporting and analytical documents, etc.), describing the experience of 12 overseas technology parks, showing strong economic performance. Additionally, an in-depth analysis was performed regarding four techno-parks, which have significant indicators of scientific and innovative activity, and leitmotif non-formalized expert interviews were held with employees of the Tomsk techno-park (a special economic zone, Tomsk, West Siberia) in July 2017. Based on the analysis recommendations were made for improving the Russian techno-parks management system that enhance the effectiveness of research and innovation activities, as well as the commercialization of the obtained results, which is highly significant for the development of Russia’s science-based economy.peer-reviewe

The rate of organizations adopting Agile and DevOps methodologies has grown in recent years, with researchers observing the impact of leadership styles and methodology adoption, presenting challenges with sustaining and scaling change initiatives. Where organizations within the marketplace today reveal the significance of leadership in influencing change, while findings signal deficiencies with having leaders who are ready. The purpose of this quantitative correlational research examines the increased probability of failure organizations face when engaging in enterprise Agile and DevOps transformational change initiatives. Through investigating the relationship between transformational leadership behaviors, readiness for change, and organizational citizenship behavior exhibited by management and employees engaging in Agile and DevOps initiatives within regional financial services companies with a presence in the South Eastern United States. The resulting study surveyed 390 anonymous participants with varying backgrounds and organizational roles based upon predetermined quota constraints aligning with the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Census, and FDIC data. Utilizing three principal instruments to measure transformational leadership, change readiness, and organizational citizenship behavior; conducting statistical analysis for construct reliability, descriptive properties, and hypothesis testing, concluding the existence of influential correlation of change readiness and organizational citizenship behaviors having a relationship with transformational leadership. The research findings identify the association of organizational readiness and employee social citizenship responsibility with applicability to transformational leadership, bringing light to the significance of grooming and sustaining leaders at all levels of the organization

Digital Innovation in the Mining, Oil and Gas Extraction, and Construction Industries in Saskatchewan

This thesis discusses the need for a change in perspective in Canadian innovation policy frameworks, explores the innovation ecosystems perspective and what it might add to public policy, and applies this perspective to investigate innovation in the mining, oil and gas extraction, and construction industries in Saskatchewan. The negative multifactor productivity (MFP) growth experienced in these industries over the last two decades suggests that these industries experience significant innovation challenges and public intervention may be merited. The study focuses on digital technology adoption as digital transformation will be key in overcoming several megatrends that threaten to disrupt Canada’s economy. The study is confined to firms in Saskatchewan for feasibility and because the industries of study represent a significant share of the provincial economy. Data was collected in 24 interviews with firms’ representatives. The results provide several directions for policy intervention in the three industries, some of which would not have been identified using conventional approaches. This is most evident for the construction industry where the prevalence of small firms, diversity of technology, and the need for simultaneous adoption of similar technology by many firms create significant financial, capacity, and coordination challenges for the industry

Prioritizing Offshore Vendor Selection Criteria for the North American Geospatial Industry

The U.S. market for geospatial services totaled US $2.2 billion in 2010, representing 50% of the global market. Data-processing firms subcontract labor-intensive portions of data services to offshore providers in South and East Asia and Eastern Europe. In general, half of all offshore contracts fail within the first 5 years because one or more parties consider the relationship unsuccessful. Despite the high failure rates, no study has examined the offshore vendor selection process in the geospatial industry. The purpose of this study was to determine the list of key offshore vendor selection criteria and the efficacy of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for ranking the criteria that North American geospatial companies consider in the offshore vendor selection process. After the selection of the initial list of factors from the literature and their validation in a pilot study, a final survey instrument was developed and administered to 15 subject matter experts (SMEs) in North America. The SMEs expressed their preferences for one criterion over another by pairwise comparisons, which served as input to the AHP procedure. The results showed that the quality of deliverables was the top ranked (out of 26) factors, instead of the price, which ranked third. Similarly, SMEs considered social and environmental consciousness on the vendor side as irrelevant. More importantly, the findings indicated that the structured AHP process provides a useful and effective methodology whose application may considerably improve the quality of the overall vendor selection process. Last, improved and stabilized business relationships leading to predictable budgets might catalyze social change, supporting stable employment. Consumers could benefit from derivative improvements in product quality and pricing

Exploring Social Sustainability and Economic Practices

Given the three pillars of sustainability, besides the environment, the interplay of social and economic dimensions provides valuable insight into how society is molded and the key components that should be considere. In terms of social sustainability, processes and framework objectives promote the wellbeing that is integral to the balance of people, planet, and profit. Economic practices consider the system of production, resource allocation, and distribution of goods and services with respect to demand and supply between economic agents. As a result, an economic system is a variant of the social system in which it exists. At present, the forefront of social sustainability research partially encompasses the impact of economic practices on people and society, with notable emphasis centered on the urban environment. Specific interdisciplinary analyses within the scope of sustainability, social development, competitiveness, and motivational management, as well as decision making within the urban landscape, are considered. This book contains nine thoroughly refereed contributions that interconnect detailed research into the two pillars reviewed

Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Statistics and Information Management, specialization in Information Analysis and ManagementWith the new trends on the Information Systems (IS) and consequently, the new approaches on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence (BI) , the world became a small place, where the knowledge can flow spirally, allowing the champions to introduce new business processes to advance firm’s performance (Robles-Flores, Kulkarni & Popovič, 2017). The present research, tries to assess the productivity of the Mozambican banking sector, considering their traditional core business of transformation of deposits into credits efficiently, and then to find which variables contribute for it. For that, the directional distance function (DDF), and the metafrontier-Luenberger productivity indicator (Kevork, Pange, Tzeremes & Tzeremes, 2017; Zhu, Wang & Wu, 2015), were used, through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), to assess the efficiency and the total factor productivity (Maudos, Pastor & Serrano, 1999). The OLS model was used to evaluate the determinants of the Total Factor Productivity Change (TFPCh), in the 16 Mozambican commercial banks over the period between 2008 and 2018. Considering the intermediation approach and index numbers, the results revealed that Mozambican banks do not operate efficiently in terms of loans allocation. For instance, in this period, the TFPCh observed an average negative growth of 1.02%, suggesting that the Mozambican banking sector does not survive from intermediation business process. The OLS model confirmed that eight out of the eleven elected explanatory variables, had significant influence on the performance of the banking system. With the new trends on the Information Systems (IS) and consequently, the new approaches on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence (BI) , the world became a small place, where the knowledge can flow spirally, allowing the champions to introduce new business processes to advance firm’s performance (Robles-Flores, Kulkarni & Popovič, 2017).
