The Formation of a Realistic Disk Galaxy in Lambda Dominated Cosmologies
We simulate the formation of a realistic disk galaxy within the hierarchical
scenario of structure formation and study its internal properties to the
present epoch. We compare results from a LambdaCDM simulation with a LambdaWDM
(2keV) simulation that forms significantly less small scale structure. We show
how high mass and force resolution in both the gas and dark matter components
play an important role in solving the angular momentum catastrophe claimed from
previous simulations of galaxy formation within the hierarchical framework. The
stellar material in the disk component has a final specific angular momentum
equal to 40% and 90% of that of the dark halo in the LambdaCDM and LambdaWDM
models respectively. The LambdaWDM galaxy has a drastically reduced satellite
population and a negligible stellar spheroidal component. Encounters with
satellites play only a minor role in disturbing the disk. Satellites possess a
variety of star formation histories linked to mergers and pericentric passages
along their orbit around the primary galaxy. In both cosmologies, the galactic
halo retains most of the baryons accreted and builds up a hot gas phase with a
substantial X-ray emission. Therefore, while we have been successful in
creating a realistic stellar disk in a massive galaxy within the LambdaCDM
scenario, energy injection emerges as necessary ingredient to reduce the baryon
fraction in galactic halos, independent of the cosmology adopted. (abridged)Comment: ApJ in press. Images and movies at

Convenient Meals On a Budget: A Guide for Healthy Eating
Eating a healthy, balanced diet provides important nutrients to your body. These nutrients give you energy and keep your heart beating, your brain active and your muscles working. Nutrients also help build and strengthen bones, muscles, and tendons as well as regulating body processes, such as blood pressure. This booklet provides nutritional tips, as well as a guide for what a week of healthy diet could consist of
Standout Attractions
Living in Chicago and working as a traveling salesman in the 1920s-1930s, Duncan Hines had a hobby—visiting and assessing restaurants. He said he was looking for “standout attractions in the culinary department.” His hobby eventually made this native of Bowling Green “America’s foremost food authority” and one of the most recognized Kentuckians of the twentieth century. This article traces the biography of the culinary entrepreneur from his early years in Bowling Green to his successful publishing ventures, and finally to the phenomenal marketing strategy that was used to create one of America’s most enduring and endearing brands

Dancing Through Hunger: A Dancer's Guide to Nutrition for Optimal Performance
Chronic energy deficiencies leading to impaired performance and injury are a prevalent problem in the dance world. This is due to a lot of dancers' misconceptions about nutrition as well as what and how much they should be eating to fuel their bodies. This is also due to a high rate of disordered eating and eating disorders among the dance population. This project explores the science behind what dancers should be eating, how much they should be eating, and when they should be eating. Recipes for healthy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included as examples for quick and easy solutions to meal times. A typical dance schedule with a proper diet is also included to make it easier to see what a day of training and eating should look like. Lastly, a section discussing eating disorders and disordered eating is included to bring awareness to those issues. This project was put together using information from various textbooks and scientific journals from the past fifteen years. The recipes were created to be quick and easy, as well as to also provide adequate nutrition to the consumer.B.S. (Bachelor of Science
Infinite qubit rings with maximal nearest neighbor entanglement: the Bethe ansatz solution
We search for translationally invariant states of qubits on a ring that
maximize the nearest neighbor entanglement. This problem was initially studied
by O'Connor and Wootters [Phys. Rev. A {\bf 63}, 052302 (2001)]. We first map
the problem to the search for the ground state of a spin 1/2 Heisenberg XXZ
model. Using the exact Bethe ansatz solution in the limit of an infinite ring,
we prove the correctness of the assumption of O'Connor and Wootters that the
state of maximal entanglement does not have any pair of neighboring spins
``down'' (or, alternatively spins ``up''). For sufficiently small fixed
magnetization, however, the assumption does not hold: we identify the region of
magnetizations for which the states that maximize the nearest neighbor
entanglement necessarily contain pairs of neighboring spins ``down''.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures; Eq. (45) and Fig. 3 corrected, no qualitative
