Artificial Intelligence in Radiotherapy Treatment Planning: Present and Future.
Treatment planning is an essential step of the radiotherapy workflow. It has become more sophisticated over the past couple of decades with the help of computer science, enabling planners to design highly complex radiotherapy plans to minimize the normal tissue damage while persevering sufficient tumor control. As a result, treatment planning has become more labor intensive, requiring hours or even days of planner effort to optimize an individual patient case in a trial-and-error fashion. More recently, artificial intelligence has been utilized to automate and improve various aspects of medical science. For radiotherapy treatment planning, many algorithms have been developed to better support planners. These algorithms focus on automating the planning process and/or optimizing dosimetric trade-offs, and they have already made great impact on improving treatment planning efficiency and plan quality consistency. In this review, the smart planning tools in current clinical use are summarized in 3 main categories: automated rule implementation and reasoning, modeling of prior knowledge in clinical practice, and multicriteria optimization. Novel artificial intelligence-based treatment planning applications, such as deep learning-based algorithms and emerging research directions, are also reviewed. Finally, the challenges of artificial intelligence-based treatment planning are discussed for future works
Contingent task and motion planning under uncertainty for human–robot interactions
Manipulation planning under incomplete information is a highly challenging task for mobile manipulators. Uncertainty can be resolved by robot perception modules or using human knowledge in the execution process. Human operators can also collaborate with robots for the execution of some difficult actions or as helpers in sharing the task knowledge. In this scope, a contingent-based task and motion planning is proposed taking into account robot uncertainty and human–robot interactions, resulting a tree-shaped set of geometrically feasible plans. Different sorts of geometric reasoning processes are embedded inside the planner to cope with task constraints like detecting occluding objects when a robot needs to grasp an object. Learning Effective Changes for Software Projects
The primary motivation of much of software analytics is decision making. How
to make these decisions? Should one make decisions based on lessons that arise
from within a particular project? Or should one generate these decisions from
across multiple projects? This work is an attempt to answer these questions.
Our work was motivated by a realization that much of the current generation
software analytics tools focus primarily on prediction. Indeed prediction is a
useful task, but it is usually followed by "planning" about what actions need
to be taken. This research seeks to address the planning task by seeking
methods that support actionable analytics that offer clear guidance on what to
do. Specifically, we propose XTREE and BELLTREE algorithms for generating a set
of actionable plans within and across projects. Each of these plans, if

A Planning-based Approach for Music Composition
. Automatic music composition is a fascinating field within computational
creativity. While different Artificial Intelligence techniques have been used
for tackling this task, Planning – an approach for solving complex combinatorial
problems which can count on a large number of high-performance systems and
an expressive language for describing problems – has never been exploited.
In this paper, we propose two different techniques that rely on automated planning
for generating musical structures. The structures are then filled from the bottom
with “raw” musical materials, and turned into melodies. Music experts evaluated
the creative output of the system, acknowledging an overall human-enjoyable
trait of the melodies produced, which showed a solid hierarchical structure and a
strong musical directionality. The techniques proposed not only have high relevance
for the musical domain, but also suggest unexplored ways of using planning
for dealing with non-deterministic creative domains
A Single-Query Manipulation Planner
In manipulation tasks, a robot interacts with movable object(s). The
configuration space in manipulation planning is thus the Cartesian product of
the configuration space of the robot with those of the movable objects. It is
the complex structure of such a "Composite Configuration Space" that makes
manipulation planning particularly challenging. Previous works approximate the
connectivity of the Composite Configuration Space by means of discretization or
by creating random roadmaps. Such approaches involve an extensive
pre-processing phase, which furthermore has to be re-done each time the
environment changes. In this paper, we propose a high-level Grasp-Placement
Table similar to that proposed by Tournassoud et al. (1987), but which does not
require any discretization or heavy pre-processing. The table captures the
potential connectivity of the Composite Configuration Space while being
specific only to the movable object: in particular, it does not require to be
re-computed when the environment changes. During the query phase, the table is
used to guide a tree-based planner that explores the space systematically. Our
simulations and experiments show that the proposed method enables improvements

Maintenance Knowledge Management with Fusion of CMMS and CM
Abstract- Maintenance can be considered as an information, knowledge processing and management system. The management of knowledge resources in maintenance is a relatively new issue compared to Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Condition Monitoring (CM) approaches and systems. Information Communication technologies (ICT) systems including CMMS, CM and enterprise administrative systems amongst others are effective in supplying data and in some cases information. In order to be effective the availability of high-quality knowledge, skills and expertise are needed for effective analysis and decision-making based on the supplied information and data. Information and data are not by themselves enough, knowledge, experience and skills are the key factors when maximizing the usability of the collected data and information. Thus, effective knowledge management (KM) is growing in importance, especially in advanced processes and management of advanced and expensive assets. Therefore efforts to successfully integrate maintenance knowledge management processes with accurate information from CMMSs and CM systems will be vital due to the increasing complexities of the overall systems.
Low maintenance effectiveness costs money and resources since normal and stable production cannot be upheld and maintained over time, lowered maintenance effectiveness can have a substantial impact on the organizations ability to obtain stable flows of income and control costs in the overall process. Ineffective maintenance is often dependent on faulty decisions, mistakes due to lack of experience and lack of functional systems for effective information exchange [10]. Thus, access to knowledge, experience and skills resources in combination with functional collaboration structures can be regarded as vital components for a high maintenance effectiveness solution.
Maintenance effectiveness depends in part on the quality, timeliness, accuracy and completeness of information related to machine degradation state, based on which decisions are made. Maintenance effectiveness, to a large extent, also depends on the quality of the knowledge of the managers and maintenance operators and the effectiveness of the internal & external collaborative environments. With emergence of intelligent sensors to measure and monitor the health state of the component and gradual implementation of ICT) in organizations, the conceptualization and implementation of E-Maintenance is turning into a reality. Unfortunately, even though knowledge management aspects are important in maintenance, the integration of KM aspects has still to find its place in E-Maintenance and in the overall information flows of larger-scale maintenance solutions. Nowadays, two main systems are implemented in most maintenance departments: Firstly, Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), the core of traditional maintenance record-keeping practices that often facilitate the usage of textual descriptions of faults and actions performed on an asset. Secondly, condition monitoring systems (CMS). Recently developed (CMS) are capable of directly monitoring asset components parameters; however, attempts to link observed CMMS events to CM sensor measurements have been limited in their approach and scalability. In this article we present one approach for addressing this challenge. We argue that understanding the requirements and constraints in conjunction - from maintenance, knowledge management and ICT perspectives - is necessary.
