Achieving sustainable freight transport and citizens’ mobility operations in modern cities are becoming critical issues for many governments. By analyzing big data streams generated through IoT devices, city planners now have the possibility to optimize traffic and mobility patterns. IoT combined with innovative transport concepts as well as emerging mobility modes (e.g., ridesharing and carsharing) constitute a new paradigm in sustainable and optimized traffic operations in smart cities. Still, these are highly dynamic scenarios, which are also subject to a high uncertainty degree. Hence, factors such as real-time optimization and re-optimization of routes, stochastic travel times, and evolving customers’ requirements and traffic status also have to be considered. This paper discusses the main challenges associated with Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and vehicle networking scenarios, identifies the underlying optimization problems that need to be solved in real time, and proposes an approach to combine the use of IoV with parallelization approaches. To this aim, agile optimization and distributed machine learning are envisaged as the best candidate algorithms to develop efficient transport and mobility systems

In the recent scenario, the most challenging requirements are to handle the massive generation of multimedia data from the Internet of Things (IoT) devices which becomes very difficult to handle only through the cloud. Fog computing technology emerges as an intelligent solution and uses a distributed environment to operate. The objective of the paper is latency minimization in e-healthcare through fog computing. Therefore, in IoT multimedia data transmission, the parameters such as transmission delay, network delay, and computation delay must be reduced as there is a high demand for healthcare multimedia analytics. Fog computing provides processing, storage, and analyze the data nearer to IoT and end-users to overcome the latency. In this paper, the novel Intelligent Multimedia Data Segregation (IMDS) scheme using Machine learning (k-fold random forest) is proposed in the fog computing environment that segregates the multimedia data and the model used to calculate total latency (transmission, computation, and network). With the simulated results, we achieved 92% as the classification accuracy of the model, an approximately 95% reduction in latency as compared with the pre-existing model, and improved the quality of services in e-healthcare

With the increasing prevalence of Smart Grid Cyber Physical Systems with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (SG CPS AMI), securing their internal components has become one of the paramount concerns. Traditional security mechanisms have proven to be insufficient in defending against sophisticated attacks. Bioinspired security and privacy models have emerged as promising solutions due to their stochastic solutions. This paper proposes a novel bio-inspired security and privacy model for SG CPS AMI that utilizes machine learning to strengthen their security levels. The proposed model is inspired by the hybrid Grey Wolf Teacher Learner based Optimizer (GWTLbO) Method’s ability to detect and respond to threats in real-time deployments. The GWTLbO Model also ensures higher privacy by selecting optimal methods between k-privacy, t-closeness & l-diversity depending upon contextual requirements. This study improves system accuracy and efficiency under diverse attacks using machine learning techniques. The method uses supervised learning to teach the model to recognize known attack trends and uncontrolled learning to spot unknown attacks. Our model was tested using real-time IoT device data samples. The model identified Zero-Day Attacks, Meter Bypass, Flash Image Manipulation, and Buffer-level attacks. The proposed model detects and responds to attacks with high accuracy and low false-positive rates. In real-time operations, the proposed model can handle huge volumes of data efficiently. The bioinspired security and privacy model secures CPS efficiently and is scalable for various cases. Machine learning techniques can improve the security and secrecy of these systems and revolutionize defense against different attacks

Owing to the development and expansion of energy-aware sensing devices and autonomous and intelligent systems, the Internet of Things (IoT) has gained remarkable growth and found uses in several day-to-day applications. Currently, the Internet of Things (IoT) network is gradually developing ubiquitous connectivity amongst distinct new applications namely smart homes, smart grids, smart cities, and several others. The developing network of smart devices and objects allows people to make smart decisions with machine to machine (M2M) communications. One of the real-world security and IoT-related challenges was vulnerable to distinct attacks which poses several security and privacy challenges. Thus, an IoT provides effective and efficient solutions. An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a solution for addressing security and privacy challenges with identifying distinct IoT attacks. This study develops a new Barnacles Mating Optimizer with Hopfield Neural Network based Intrusion Detection (BMOHNN-ID) in IoT environment. The presented BMOHNN-ID technique majorly concentrates on the detection and classification of intrusions from IoT environments. In order to attain this, the BMOHNN-ID technique primarily pre-processes the input data for transforming it into a compatible format. Next, the HNN model was employed for the effectual recognition and classification of intrusions from IoT environments. Moreover, the BMO technique was exploited to optimally modify the parameters related to the HNN model. When a list of possible susceptibilities of every device is ordered, every device is profiled utilizing data related to every device. It comprises routing data, the reported hostname, network flow, and topology. This data was offered to the external modules for digesting the data via REST API model. The experimental values assured that the BMOHNN-ID model has gained effectual intrusion classification performance over the other models

The progressively ubiquitous connectivity in the present information systems pose newer challenges tosecurity. The conventional security mechanisms have come a long way in securing the well-definedobjectives of confidentiality, integrity, authenticity and availability. Nevertheless, with the growth in thesystem complexities and attack sophistication, providing security via traditional means can beunaffordable. A novel theoretical perspective and an innovative approach are thus required forunderstanding security from decision-making and strategic viewpoint. One of the analytical tools whichmay assist the researchers in designing security protocols for computer networks is game theory. Thegame-theoretic concept finds extensive applications in security at different levels, including thecyberspace and is generally categorized under security games. It can be utilized as a robust mathematicaltool for modelling and analyzing contemporary security issues. Game theory offers a natural frameworkfor capturing the defensive as well as adversarial interactions between the defenders and the attackers.Furthermore, defenders can attain a deep understanding of the potential attack threats and the strategiesof attackers by equilibrium evaluation of the security games. In this paper, the concept of game theoryhas been presented, followed by game-theoretic applications in cybersecurity including cryptography.Different types of games, particularly those focused on securing the cyberspace, have been analysed andvaried game-theoretic methodologies including mechanism design theories have been outlined foroffering a modern foundation of the science of cybersecurity

Cloud computing is distributed architecture, providing computing facilities and storage resource as a service over an open environment (Internet), this lead to different matters related to the security and privacy in cloud computing. Thus, defending network accessible Cloud resources and services from various threats and attacks is of great concern. To address this issue, it is essential to create an efficient and effective Network Intrusion System (NIDS) to detect both outsider and insider intruders with high detection precision in the cloud environment. NIDS has become popular as an important component of the network security infrastructure, which detects malicious activities by monitoring network traffic. In this work, we propose to optimize a very popular soft computing tool widely used for intrusion detection namely, Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) using an Improved Genetic Algorithm (IGA). Genetic Algorithm (GA) is improved through optimization strategies, namely Parallel Processing and Fitness Value Hashing, which reduce execution time, convergence time and save processing power. Since,  Learning rate and Momentum term are among the most relevant parameters that impact the performance of BPNN classifier, we have employed IGA to find the optimal or near-optimal values of these two parameters which ensure high detection rate, high accuracy and low false alarm rate. The CloudSim simulator 4.0 and DARPA’s KDD cup datasets 1999 are used for simulation. From the detailed performance analysis, it is clear that the proposed system called “ANIDS BPNN-IGA” (Anomaly NIDS based on BPNN and IGA) outperforms several state-of-art methods and it is more suitable for network anomaly detection
