This article considers e-learning as one of the efficient technologies implemented in National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) for teaching Russian and foreign students. The paper introduces the courses designed for teaching General English. The authors have analyzed the results of e-learning implementation in TPU and identified the advantages and probable disadvantages of the technology. One of the most significant benefits of e-courses is optimization of learning technology, which contributes to efficient use of human and technological resources and enhances the national education system in general. Avoidance of the recognized disadvantages suggests a blended learning strategy

The study addresses the major factors preventing foreign language (FL) teachers from effective use of electronic information educational environment (EIEE) at the institutes of higher learning (IHL) in Russia to develop learner autonomy. Upon holding interviews and taking polls of 60 respondents from three universities helped the authors find out that these factors include: sketchy knowledge of information and communication technologies among foreign language teachers; poor standards of material and technical resources capability at universities; inadequate readiness of FL teachers to apply new information and communication technologies; insufficient level of FL teachers motivation to use innovative ITs at work. The contributors have worked out a number of pedagogical conditions that should be provided at the IHL to clear the barriers mentioned above: gradual development of FL teachers readiness to use the EIEE (the IT competence acquisition based on learning management systems (LMS); FL teachers activity stimulation to work in the EIEE through creating modular courses); setting up the EIEE in the IHL, which can translate all e-learning possibilities into action, the LMS, software and documentation among them. The said pedagogical conditions have successfully been tested and implemented at RUDN University

Collaborative learning at engineering universities: Benefits and challenges

This paper concerns the cutting edge educational approaches incorporated into syllabuses of the most progressive Russian higher technical schools. The authors discuss one of the active methods in teaching foreign languages – collaborative learning implemented in e-courses. Theoretical and historical aspects of this approach are addressed, as are its suitability for engineering education and possible ways of introducing collaborative learning into e-courses. Collaborative learning technology offers wide prospects for teachers of foreign languages as it enables the use of various patterns of interaction, promotes discussion, opinion exchange, peer assessment and building an e-learning community, fosters the development of e-culture and netiquette, and prepares future specialists for work in their professional sphere under the new conditions imposed by society’s technological and cultural development. This paper describes real pedagogical experience of teaching English to students using the platform Moodle, focusing on the capacity of different Moodle instruments for designing group work tasks. Recommendations are given for their usage and the results of implementing a collaborative learning approach into certain e-courses offered at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) are presented

The Center of Nursing Excellence (CNE) in Kazakhstan is developed within the ProInCa project. The CNE focuses on the transfer of research outcomes into nursing practice and the research ideas to the universities for research and educational purposes. It includes mechanisms for collaboration and knowledge sharing within the Centre of Nursing Excellence between the academic national and international nursing community (universities and other educational institutions) and society. These mechanisms involve the creation of an e-platform and formalized national and international networks and working groups

Abstract: The implementation of the online learning system is one of the right steps taken by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. This study aims to describe the implementation of online learning when the Covid-19 outbreak in the Republic of Tatarsatan and to find out how students' satisfaction and motivation to learn by implementing the online learning system. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection is done through interviews, documentation, and observation with data collection tools that have been prepared. The location in this study in the Republic of Tatarstan is precisely at Kazan Federal University. The results showed that the implementation of online learning systems in the Republic of Tatarstan especially at Kazan Federal University had not been fully effective. That is because there are still many student complaints about using online learning applications such as Microsoft teams in learning activities at Kazan Federal University and most students do not fully understand the material delivered by lecturers in online learning.   Keywords: Online Learning System, Covid-19, Republic of Tatarsta

The paper addresses the specifics of teaching a foreign language to students of non-linguistic departments in the Eurasian environment during the pandemic. There were described resource opportunities of internet technologies in teaching a foreign language to students of non-linguistic departments, including a wide range of teaching materials. Moreover, these opportunities have a motivational potential if students are given competent guidance in methodic, didactic, and technical aspects in online learning. The aim to elicit difficulties, which non-linguistic students have to face in distant learning of foreign language during the pandemic, encouraged the authors to develop a questionnaire based on the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference. This survey enabled the authors to arrive at conclusions that correlate with other researchers’ works, which allows them to determine general trends and consider them while planning their own educational products in the future. The research was conducted in the MOODLE electronic system. The authors assume that the above-mentioned electronic system is the most widespread in the Eurasian Educational Space and an efficient tool of online teaching. The specifics of the foreign language course, where the language is both a target and a means of non-linguistic learning, were determined. Basic kinds of speech activity were characterized. Moreover, ways to organize these activities with the help of internet technologies in learning were identified to facilitate overcoming certain difficulties in completing the academic course in a foreign language by non-linguistic students in distance format. It was proved that the elaboration of methodic, didactic, and technical components of distant education in teaching a foreign language to non-linguistic students during the pandemic can make distant learning an effective form of education. Thus, we underlined the practicability of introducing internet technologies in the educational process in higher educational institutions
