This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link - Copyright 2008 Elsevier LtdIn this paper, the problem of stability analysis for a class of impulsive stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with mixed delays is considered. The mixed time delays comprise both the time-varying and infinite distributed delays. By employing a combination of the M-matrix theory and stochastic analysis technique, a sufficient condition is obtained to ensure the existence, uniqueness, and exponential p-stability of the equilibrium point for the addressed impulsive stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural network with mixed delays. The proposed method, which does not make use of the Lyapunov functional, is shown to be simple yet effective for analyzing the stability of impulsive or stochastic neural networks with variable and/or distributed delays. We then extend our main results to the case where the parameters contain interval uncertainties. Moreover, the exponential convergence rate index is estimated, which depends on the system parameters. An example is given to show the effectiveness of the obtained results. This work was supported by the Natural Science Foundation of CQ CSTC under grant 2007BB0430, the Scientific Research Fund of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission under Grant KJ070401, an International Joint Project sponsored by the Royal Society of the UK and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

Boundedness and global exponential stability for delayed differential equations with applications

    Get PDF
The boundedness of solutions for a class of n-dimensional differential equations with distributed delays is established by assuming the existence of instantaneous negative feedbacks which dominate the delay effect. As an important by-product, some criteria for global exponential stability of equilibria are obtained. The results are illustrated with applications to delayed neural networks and population dynamics models.POCI 2010CMATFundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) - SFRH/BD/29563/2006CMAFFEDE

Global stability of a Cohen-Grossberg neural network with both time-varying and continuous distributed delays

    Get PDF
In this paper, a generalized neural network of Cohen-Grossberg type with both discrete time-varying and distributed unbounded delays is considered. Based on M-matrix theory, sufficient conditions are established to ensure the existence and global attractivity of an equilibrium point. The global exponential stability of the equilibrium is also addressed, but for the model with bounded discrete time-varying delays. A comparison of results shows that these results generalize and improve some earlier publications.Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT)Universidade do Minho. Centro de Matemática (CMAT

General criteria for asymptotic and exponential stabilities of neural network models with unbounded delays

    Get PDF
For a family of differential equations with infinite delay, we give sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic, and global exponential stability of an equilibrium point. This family includes most of the delayed models of neural networks of Cohen-Grossberg type, with both bounded and unbounded distributed delay, for which general asymptotic and exponential stability criteria are derived. As illustrations, the results are applied to several concrete models studied in the literature, and a comparison of results is given.Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) - 2009-ISFL-1-209Universidade do Minho. Boundedness and stability for Cohen–Grossberg neural network with time-varying delays

    Get PDF
AbstractIn this paper, a model is considered to describe the dynamics of Cohen–Grossberg neural network with variable coefficients and time-varying delays. Uniformly ultimate boundedness and uniform boundedness are studied for the model by utilizing the Hardy inequality. Combining with the Halanay inequality and the Lyapunov functional method, some new sufficient conditions are derived for the model to be globally exponentially stable. The activation functions are not assumed to be differentiable or strictly increasing. Moreover, no assumption on the symmetry of the connection matrices is necessary. These criteria are important in signal processing and the design of networks

Synchronization between Bidirectional Coupled Nonautonomous Delayed Cohen-Grossberg Neural Networks

    Get PDF
Based on using suitable Lyapunov function and the properties of M-matrix, sufficient conditions for complete synchronization of bidirectional coupled nonautonomous Cohen-Grossberg neural networks are obtained. The methods for discussing synchronization avoid complicated error system of Cohen-Grossberg neural networks. Two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization method

Global asymptotic stability for neural network models with distributed delays

    Get PDF
In this paper, we obtain the global asymptotic stability of the zero solution of a general n-dimensional delayed differential system, by imposing a condition of dominance of the nondelayed terms which cancels the delayed effect. We consider several delayed differential systems in general settings, which allow us to study, as subclasses, the well known neural network models of Hopfield, Cohn-Grossberg, bidirectional associative memory, and static with S-type distributed delays. For these systems, we establish sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique equilibrium and its global asymptotic stability, without using the Lyapunov functional technique. Our results improve and generalize some existing ones.Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT

Existence and Global Exponential Stability of Periodic Solution to Cohen-Grossberg BAM Neural Networks with Time-Varying Delays

    Get PDF
We investigate first the existence of periodic solution in general Cohen-Grossberg BAM neural networks with multiple time-varying delays by means of using degree theory. Then using the existence result of periodic solution and constructing a Lyapunov functional, we discuss global exponential stability of periodic solution for the above neural networks. Our result on global exponential stability of periodic solution is different from the existing results. In our result, the hypothesis for monotonicity ineqiality conditions in the works of Xia (2010) Chen and Cao (2007) on the behaved functions is removed and the assumption for boundedness in the works of Zhang et al. (2011) and Li et al. (2009) is also removed. We just require that the behaved functions satisfy sign conditions and activation functions are globally Lipschitz continuous
