Lesen und Genießen : von der Grenze des Textparadigmas der Filmwissenschaft

Im Jahr 2003 innerhalb der Reihe "GrenzBereiche des Lesens" gehaltener Vortrag. "GrenzBereiche des Lesens" ist eine kulturwissenschaftliche Vortragsreihe, die 2003 und 2004 an der Universität Frankfurt stattfand. Sabine Nessel eröffnete die Vortragsreihe mit Beobachtungen zum Lektürebegriff hinsichtlich des Phänomens Film: am Beispiel von Otto Premingers "Bonjour Tristesse" zeigt sie, wie die seit den späten 1960er Jahren übliche Übertragung des Textparadigmas auf den Film im Folgenden eine Erfassung des „Erlebnis Kino“ als Ereignis verstellte. Im Durchgang durch verschiedene Filmtheorien zeigt sie auf, dass Filme zwar "gelesen" aber auch auf einer Ebene jenseits des Kino-Texts somatisch rezipiert – "genossen" – werden, dass also die Begriffe Film, Text und Lesen auf die Bereiche Kino, Ereignis und Erleben hin zu erweitern sind

Peter Weirs Film 'The Truman Show' (USA 1998, Peter Weir) ist zunächst als klassische Dystopie zu lesen. Beispielhaft wird von einer nicht genau definierten nahen Zukunft erzählt, in der es einem Konzern an Privatpersonen statt möglich ist, ein Kind zu adoptieren und unbehelligt für ein kommerzielles Unternehmen zu missbrauchen: Die Produktion einer ultimativen Reality-Show-Soap-Opera. Der Film erzählt über dieses Motiv von einem unkritischen Medienkonsum, der diese Praxis honorierenden Mehrheit der Fernsehzuschauer und nicht zuletzt von der Macht des Kapitals. Die enorme Produktion wird ausschließlich durch genuines Product-Placement und Merchandising ermöglicht

Йдеться про феномен міжвидової конверсії художнього задуму в чиннику перетворення словесного тексту в кінотекст. За зразок взято один із найбільш резонансних у новітньому кіно зразків – кінотекст В. Бортка „Тарас Бульба”. Notes for walking an augmented landscape : spatial narrative, walked practices and locative technologies

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.Since the early 2000s, media artists have explored the area of location awareness through diverse locative media projects in which geographical space acts as an interface for artistic engagement and intervention, mediated by mobile devices. Many of these locative artworks involve navigating landscapes annotated or augmented with personal, social or historical narrative and meaning, in which landscape acts an interface to specific digital contents. Such place-based storytelling projects involve annotation, narrative spatialisation and movement though a simultaneously real world and virtually augmented space. Certain older cultural practices also involve complex relationships between spatial narrative, annotated landscape and movement though space; such as pilgrimage, the ars memoria and similar walked and embodied practices. This thesis investigates the potential relationships between these earlier practices and contemporary approaches to spatial annotation and augmentation in locative projects through field and practice-based research. It is also a creative exploration of spatial narrative and practices of walking an annotated, augmented landscape; researching the ways in which an understanding of earlier cultural practices might extend and enrich our approaches to locative media and to modes of engaging audiences in location based work. The research leads to the development of a set of creative artefacts as responses to these investigations; culminating in Notes for Walking (the space in-between time), a locative artwork exhibited within the Sydney Festival in January 2013

Experiência estética e espaço potencial em net artes

The observation of net arts events can produce reflections concerning subjectivity processes, aesthetics experiences and creativity in virtual spaces of the internet. Considering the hypothesis that subjects present in virtual spaces can transform an aesthetic paradigm, it is necessary to theoretically discuss how this can happen and its consequences. Observing two net arts events from artist Mar Mark Amerika, this paper reflects on possible consequences of using a communication dispositive that transport subjects to virtual spaces, considering how subjects in constant modulation may have their capacities transformed.A observação de eventos de net artes pode suscitar reflexões acerca dos processos de subjetivação, experiência estética e criatividade em ambientes virtuais na internet. Sob a hipótese de que a presença dos sujeitos nos ambientes virtuais transforma o paradigma estético, faz-se necessária a discussão teórica da forma como isso acontece e quais as suas consequências. Através da observação de dois eventos de net artes do artista Mark Amerika, pretende-se refletir sobre as possíveis consequências do uso dos dispositivos de comunicação que transportam os sujeitos para ambientes virtuais e as transformações das capacidades dos indivíduos em constante modulação

Filmhefte für den DaF-Unterricht : Qualitätsstandards

Filme sind aus dem aktuellen pädagogischen Kontext nicht mehr wegzudenken. Das verstärkte Interesse der letzten Jahre am Film als Unterrichtsmedium hat die Produktion diverser methodisch-didaktischer Lehr-/Lernmaterialien zu Filmen bedingt. Für Filmhefte, die im Unterricht ´Deutsch als Fremdsprache´ (DaF) eingesetzt werden sollen, fehlen bis dato jedoch jegliche Qualitätsstandards. Diese Tatsache führt dazu, dass sich existierende Filmhefte für den DaF-Unterricht qualitativ sowohl inhaltlich als auch formal voneinander deutlich unterscheiden. \ud \ud Mit der vorliegenden Publikation wird ein Vorschlag zu Qualitätsstandards für die Filmhefte im DaF-Unterricht unterbreitet, welcher zur (Weiter-)Entwicklung der fremdsprachlichen Filmbildung und -didaktik beitragen soll. Die Publikation wendet sich einerseits an die DaF-Lehrenden, die Filme als Lehr-/Lernmedien im DaF-Unterricht einsetzen wollen und sich eine Unterstützung bei der Begutachtung der Filmmaterialien wünschen. Andererseits wird die Zielgruppe der Herausgeber/-innen der Filmhefte angesprochen, die in den vorgeschlagenen Qualitätsstandards eine Orientierung für die Erstellung der Filmhefte finden können.\u

E-Literature, New Media Art, and E-Literary Criticism

In his article E-Literature, New Media Art, and E-Literary Criticism Janez Strehovec explores the commonalities between electronic literature and new media art. Rather than deploying the traditional conceptual apparatus of e-literary criticism directed first and foremost to the new media elements of e-literature, Strehovec takes into account approaches from current theories in the social sciences and humanities. In doing so, he draws upon examples of new media art as a practice in which the novel\u27s social paradigms change the way of art-making and challenge the very function of art. Close-readings of some new media art projects including Bookchin\u27s Mass Ornament, EDT\u27s Transborder Immigrant Tool, and Jodi\u27s ZYX demonstrate that new media art is questioning the very ontological status of the field in terms of abandoning aesthetic and artistic functions in favor of their functions of use. In contrast, e-literature\u27s interactions with society challenge the intrinsic possibilities of this field, especially in terms of blurring the boundaries between forms and revolutionizing e-literature\u27s means of expression

Pictures painted in words – about audio description fort the Visual Arts

In this paper I shall analyze the audio description for purposes of fine arts as a special form of a multi-modal text. With reference to theoretical linguistic concepts of picture as a semiotic sign with iconic but also prototypical function (as a mental picture) this paper shows the differences between visual and verbal signs and attempts to clarify the definition of multimodal competence and their significance for audio describing. On that grounds we examine empirically the selected problems of audiodescription related to composition to demonstrate the difficulties in bringing the visual and verbal components together in one text.In this paper I shall analyze the audio description for purposes of fine arts as a special form of a multi-modal text.
