Constraint-Based Heuristic On-line Test Generation from Non-deterministic I/O EFSMs
We are investigating on-line model-based test generation from
non-deterministic output-observable Input/Output Extended Finite State Machine
(I/O EFSM) models of Systems Under Test (SUTs). We propose a novel
constraint-based heuristic approach (Heuristic Reactive Planning Tester (xRPT))
for on-line conformance testing non-deterministic SUTs. An indicative feature
of xRPT is the capability of making reasonable decisions for achieving the test
goals in the on-line testing process by using the results of off-line bounded
static reachability analysis based on the SUT model and test goal
specification. We present xRPT in detail and make performance comparison with
other existing search strategies and approaches on examples with varying
complexity.Comment: In Proceedings MBT 2012, arXiv:1202.582
A Holistic Approach in Embedded System Development
We present pState, a tool for developing "complex" embedded systems by
integrating validation into the design process. The goal is to reduce
validation time. To this end, qualitative and quantitative properties are
specified in system models expressed as pCharts, an extended version of
hierarchical state machines. These properties are specified in an intuitive way
such that they can be written by engineers who are domain experts, without
needing to be familiar with temporal logic. From the system model, executable
code that preserves the verified properties is generated. The design is
documented on the model and the documentation is passed as comments into the
generated code. On the series of examples we illustrate how models and
properties are specified using pState.Comment: In Proceedings F-IDE 2015, arXiv:1508.0338
Efficient Symbolic Supervisory Synthesis and Guard Generation: Evaluating partitioning techniques for the state-space exploration
The supervisory control theory (SCT) is a model-based framework, which automatically synthesizes a supervisor that restricts a plant to be controlled based on specifications to be fulfilled. Two main problems, typically encountered in industrial applications, prevent SCT from having a major breakthrough. First, the supervisor which is synthesized automatically from the given plant and specification models might be incomprehensible to the users. To tackle this problem, an approach was recently presented to extract compact propositional formulae (guards) from the supervisor, represented symbolically by binary decision diagrams (BDD). These guards are then attached to the original models, which results in a modular and comprehensible representation of the supervisor. However, this approach, which computes the supervisor symbolically in the conjunctive way, might lead to another problem: the state-space explosion, because of the large number of intermediate BDD nodes during computation. To alleviate this problem, we introduce in this paper an alternative approach that is based on the disjunctive partitioning technique, including a set of selection heuristics. Then this approach is adapted to the guard generation procedure. Finally, the efficiency of the presented approach is demonstrated on a set of benchmark examples
