Porównania społeczne i ich rola w kształtowaniu zachowań współczesnych konsumentów

People tend to perceive value of their attributes and objects they possess in relative terms, i.e. based on social comparisons. These comparisons shape consumers’ behavior as well as their aspirations, lifestyle, self-esteem and happiness. The aim of the paper was to establish the role of social comparisons in shaping consumers’ behavior and to identify comparative reference groups, in the light of literature and primary research results. The data confim that Polish consumers engage in social comparisons, and some of them do it regularly. Small but signifiant fraction of consumers use effects of comparisons, i.e. knowledge of consumption patterns realized by peer and aspirational groups, while shaping their current and futureconsumptionLudzie mają skłonność do postrzegania wartości posiadanych przez siebie przedmiotów w kategoriach relatywnych, wynikających z porównań społecznych.

Dynamic analysis for the management of stray dogs in Bucharest

    Get PDF
The paper presents a new concept in Geography, with debates about the analyzed entities on many ways, such as journalistic or political. In the present case, I wish to adjust it to the geographic plan and to incorporate social-geography elements, elements relating to environmental issues, location being the most important component. Practically, complaints made by the capital`s citizens against stray dogs, that are being received by the Animal Protection and Surveillance Authority (ASPA) in Bucharest, are standardised, brought to a common form and are introduced under a punctual form on a map at that address. From all this complaints, a data base with lots of information is built. Through processing, thematic and analytical maps result, which will represent the cartographic support of this research and all information will be examined both qualitatively and quantitatively

Apple Vision Pro for Healthcare: "The Ultimate Display"? -- Entering the Wonderland of Precision Medicine

At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2023, Apple introduced the Vision Pro. The Vision Pro is a Mixed Reality (MR) headset, more specifically it is a Virtual Reality (VR) device with an additional Video See-Through (VST) capability. The VST capability turns the Vision Pro also into an Augmented Reality (AR) device. The AR feature is enabled by streaming the real world via cameras to the (VR) screens in front of the user's eyes. This is of course not unique and similar to other devices, like the Varjo XR-3. Nevertheless, the Vision Pro has some interesting features, like an inside-out screen that can show the headset wearers' eyes to "outsiders" or a button on the top, called "Digital Crown", that allows you to seamlessly blend digital content with your physical space by turning it. In addition, it is untethered, except for the cable to the battery, which makes the headset more agile, compared to the Varjo XR-3. This could actually come closer to the "Ultimate Display", which Ivan Sutherland had already sketched in 1965. Not available to the public yet, like the Ultimate Display, we want to take a look into the crystal ball in this perspective to see if it can overcome some clinical challenges that - especially - AR still faces in the medical domain, but also go beyond and discuss if the Vision Pro could support clinicians in essential tasks to spend more time with their patients.Comment: This is a Preprint under CC BY. There’s always the river: social and environmental equity in rapidly urbanising landscapes in India

    Get PDF
In the pursuit of sustainable and liveable cities, Indian built environment practitioners and policymakers are understandably focused on aspects of infrastructure, sanitation and health, given the problems of pollution and environmental degradation are significant urban problems. However, there is little demonstration of understanding of the part that landscape could play in tackling such issues. To explore this, the paper examines two urban rivers in India. It calls on interviews with practitioners, residents and users in Madurai and Ahmedabad, focusing on access and use of the river to explore social and environmental equity. The findings suggest that free, public and safe access to the rivers have reduced over time in both cities, for different reasons. Perceived environmental quality of both rivers has also worsened. We suggest that urban river infrastructure should be reconceptualised to explore the feasibility and acceptability of a more holistic approach to understanding Indian riparian urban landscapes
