    The Internet of Things (IoT), the development and installation of advanced sensors for data collection, computer solutions for remote connection and other disruptive technologies are marking a transformation process in the industry; giving rise to what various sectors have called the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0. With this process of change, organizations face both new opportunities and challenges. This article focuses on the modeling and integration of industrial data, generated by sensors installed in machines. The extraction of patterns is proposed, using data fusion techniques that allow the design of a predictive maintenance model. Finally, a case study is presented with a database that is applied to the Naive Bayes Algorithm to obtain predictions.Keywords: Industry 4.0, Sensors, Internet of Things, Pattern Extraction, Omnibus Models.

    Embedded Edge Intelligent Processing for End-To-End Predictive Maintenance in Industrial Applications

    This article advances innovative approaches to the design and implementation of an embedded intelligent system for predictive maintenance (PdM) in industrial applications. It is based on the integration of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) techniques into micro-edge Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices running on Armr Cortexr microcontrollers (MCUs) and addresses the impact of a) adapting to the constraints of MCUs, b) analysing sensor patterns in the time and frequency domain and c) optimising the AI model architecture and hyperparameter tuning, stressing that hardware–software co-exploration is the key ingredient to converting micro-edge IIoT devices into intelligent PdM systems. Moreover, this article highlights the importance of end-to-end AI development solutions by employing existing frameworks and inference engines that permit the integration of complex AI mechanisms within MCUs, such as NanoEdgeTM AI Studio, Edge Impulse and STM32 Cube.AI. Both quantitative and qualitative insights are presented in complementary workflows with different design and learning components, as well as in the backend flow for deployment onto IIoT devices with a common inference platform based on Armr Cortexr-M-based MCUs. The use case is an n-class classification based on the vibration of generic motor rotating equipment.     The combination of the Internet and emerging technologies such as nearfield communications, real-time localization, and embedded sensors lets us transform everyday objects into smart objects that can understand and react to their environment.     Design Management Capability in Entrepreneurship: A Case Study of Xiaomi

    In recent years, entrepreneurship has become a popular topic and attracted many young people to start their own companies. In entrepreneurship, design was generally viewed as essential to innovation, replacing the conventional role of the engineer. Unlike traditional businesses, which generally take a longer time to become established in the more stable economic context of mass-production, current start-ups have to face fierce competition and have the tendency to expand rapidly and accommodate the dynamic business environment. Consequently, design management is considered to be crucial to business growth, since it contributes to both competitive advantages and strategic flexibility. However, start-up companies are well-known for their high failure ratio. This triggered our initial research question: what is the role of design in a start-up to support it in achieving success? Through a case study of Xiaomi, a well-known successful entrepreneurship in China, the new capabilities of entrepreneurial design management were reported. It was further classified into three key topics in line with the three stages of entrepreneurial business development.     End-to-End Privacy for Open Big Data Markets

    The idea of an open data market envisions the creation of a data trading model to facilitate exchange of data between different parties in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain. The data collected by IoT products and solutions are expected to be traded in these markets. Data owners will collect data using IoT products and solutions. Data consumers who are interested will negotiate with the data owners to get access to such data. Data captured by IoT products will allow data consumers to further understand the preferences and behaviours of data owners and to generate additional business value using different techniques ranging from waste reduction to personalized service offerings. In open data markets, data consumers will be able to give back part of the additional value generated to the data owners. However, privacy becomes a significant issue when data that can be used to derive extremely personal information is being traded. This paper discusses why privacy matters in the IoT domain in general and especially in open data markets and surveys existing privacy-preserving strategies and design techniques that can be used to facilitate end to end privacy for open data markets.
