Visualization process of Temporal Data
International audienceTemporal data are abundantly present in many application domains such as banking, financial, clinical, geographical applications and so on. Temporal data have been extensively studied from data mining and database perspectives. Complementary to these studies, our work focuses on the visualization techniques of temporal data: a wide range of visualization techniques have been designed to assist the users to visually analyze and manipulate temporal data. All the techniques have been designed independently. In such a context it is therefore difficult to systematically explore the set of possibilities as well as to thoroughly envision visualization techniques of temporal data. Addressing this problem, we present a visualization process of temporal data. We adapt the Ed Chi's visualization process to the case of temporal data. We illustrate the steps of our visualization process by considering the design of the Star Representation Technique that we have developed. By identifying and organizing the various aspects of design, our process serves as a basis for classifying existing visualization techniques and should also help the designer to address the right design questions and to envision future systems
Database web application
The thesis is based on the development need for a database for the Research Water Engineering group. The research group expertise lies in water quality monitoring and has monitoring stations which collect the data.
The purpose of this thesis was to create the research group’s own database platform for the work with data and visualization of specified data into the charts on the web pages of the research group.
The carried-out project included research of the methods for achieving the necessary goals and implementation of the found solutions. Free license IT tools such as MySQL database, Laravel framework, Dygraph and DataTables JavaScript libraries were used for the project. This thesis documents the development process, analyses the provided choices and discusses the resolutions strengths and weaknesses of the selected solutions.
The result was successfully achieved. The database offers many features for convenient work with the data. Some of its functionality includes searching, filtering, sorting, marking, editing and other operations with the data. The result was a functional web database application which will be used for data handling and visualization in the charts for the purposes of the research group. Database security and performance were carefully considered and achieved.
In conclusion, the implementation of the database web application demonstrated the aspects of development process and objectives realization. Finally, the results are used for the purposes of the research group

Combining design and performance in a data visualization management system
Interactive data visualizations have emerged as a prominent way to bring data exploration and analysis capabilities to both technical and non-technical users. Despite their ubiquity and importance across applications, multiple design- and performance-related challenges lurk beneath the visualization creation process. To meet these challenges, application designers either use visualization systems (e.g., Endeca, Tableau, and Splunk) that are tailored to domain-specific analyses, or manually design, implement, and optimize their own solutions. Unfortunately, both approaches typically slow down the creation process. In this paper, we describe the status of our progress towards an end-to-end relational approach in our data visualization management system (DVMS). We introduce DeVIL, a SQL-like language to express static as well as interactive visualizations as database views that combine user inpu

Development of Application Software for Water System Data Management, Visualization, and Analysis With the Shiny Framework
A comprehensive watershed protection plan includes the collection of water quality, meteorological, and hydrological data. Large amounts of data can be difficult to manage if proper systems are not put in place for data management. Poor data management can be detrimental and may result in data loss, poor quality data, or underutilized data due to the lack of an efficient process of querying, visualizing, and analyzing data. Database software is a great solution to store and organize large datasets, yet database software often lack data visualization and analysis tools. Commonly, databases are paired with an outside application specialized for data querying, visualization, and analysis. In this work, two applications were developed with a free and open source application development framework, Shiny, in the R programming language, for facilitated water system data management by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) (RStudio 2013). One application is designed for facilitated database data entry and the other for facilitated data visualization and analysis. This project is a product of the collaboration between UMass Amherst and the DCR
Perancangan Dan Pembuatan Aplikasi Erd Generator Notasi Orm Dari Skrip Basis Data Oracle Berbasis J2ee
The existing of database processing is needed by many institutions and companies. Database is not only to get information faster, it is also enlarging their service to customer. For companies, this advantage can increase competency. Because of this reason, many companies using manual processing turn to database.
As mentioned above, database reverse engineering process has became a necessity for database developers to understand the structure of any databases. Commonly, this structure is modeled in some notations of Entity Relationships Diagram (ERD). The graphical visualization of database structure in an ERD can use many notations, so it is easy to understand. One of the approaches, which are easy to understand, is Object Role Modeling (ORM) diagram.
By reverse engineering the mapping process to relation schema of a database, ERD generation from a data definition language script of Oracle can be done. For more flexibility, this application is constructed web based with Servlets technology that is propertied by JavaTM 2 SDK
PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM GPS TRACKER PADA RASPBERRY PI BERBASIS WEB
GPS technology has developed as position tracking system in real time named GPS Tracker and navigation
system. In this research, the GPS Tracker will be evolved using Raspberry Pi microcomputers and GPS
module. Port GPIO in Raspberry Pi is an interface allowing the microcomputer to interact with the outside
world. GPS Module is an instrument to capture the GPS signal emitted by minimum of 3 satellites, so that it
will derive a coordinate. Development of the GPS Tracker system is based on NMEA data format processed
to become coordinate data and stored into the Raspberry Pi database then continued by the visualization
process on map based web using Google Maps API integrated with application built. The result shows that the
GPS signal captured and stored into database has been able to be visualized on Google Maps API in real time
and the visualization marker moves, leaving a mark in every few seconds
Visualizing the conversation pathways of telephone linked care in a directed graph
Thesis (S.M.)--Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, 2009.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (p. 12).Telephone linked care (TLC) is a telehealth intervention that has been shown to be effective in a variety of clinical settings. TLC is an interactive computerized telephone system. The system 'speaks' to patients, asking them questions and understanding their responses. There is logic built into the calls, so that a patient's response to a question will dictate the next question that is asked. This serves to personalize the call for each patient, and makes the conversation more realistic. All of the patients' responses are stored in a database. This database provides much opportunity for analysis because a single phone call contains many responses. Visualization is an important way of gaining insight into data. Visualization can make data easier to understand and process. Different aspects of data can be encoded in a visualization. The TLC data lends itself to visualization. By viewing each of the questions that the system asks as nodes, and connecting the nodes by the chronological order in which these questions are asked, a tree structure will reveal the conversational paths that are taken in the calls. By combining data from multiple calls and encoding them in this tree structure, new insights can be gained into the TLC data. For example, the frequency with which questions are answered in a particular way can be encoded to reveal the most common pathways through the tree. This paper describes a visualization application of TLC data which will allow researchers to gain new insights into the TLC conversations and into medical interviews in general.by Penelope H.
