Development of tourism in Croatia as a new tourist destination compared to tourism development in select post-communist countries

This study talks about the development of tourism in Croatia in the post-war period (1995 - 1999) compared to the development of tourism in the selected post-communist Eastern European countries of the Czech Republic and Hungary. In order to present this process, the study will analyze the present situation of tourism in Croatia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Additionally, it will compare facts in order to analyze the gaps and give the recommendations. Furthermore, the study will review the historical conditions that caused the similar social development in all three indicated countries

A Multiresolution PDE-Based Deformable Surface for Medical Imaging Applications

We recently developed a multiresolution PDE-based deformable surface whose deformation behavior is governed by partial differential equations (PDEs) such as the weighted minimal surface flow. Comparing with the level-set approach, our new model has better control of the mesh quality and model resolution, and is much simpler to implement since all the computations are local. The new deformable model is very useful for a variety of medical imaging applications including boundary reconstruction, surface visualization, data segmentation, and topology discovery. In this paper, we demonstrate both the accuracy and robustness of our model on areas such as medical image segmentation through a number of experiments on both real (MRI/CT) and synthetic volumetric datasets

MUSIC FOR BRASS QUINTET WITH ORCHESTRAL ACCOMPANIMENT: COMMISSIONED WORKS, THE ANNAPOLIS BRASS QUINTET, AND A SURVEY OF LITERATURE FOR BRASS QUINTET AND ORCHESTRA

Today’s leading brass chamber ensemble is the brass quintet, whose inception was relatively late compared to the string quartet or woodwind quintet. The first modern brass quintet formed in the 1950s, while the first string quartet can be traced to the 17th century. Compositions for woodwind quintet were written as early as 1811 during the Classical Period. The New York Brass Quintet, American Brass Quintet, and Annapolis Brass Quintet commissioned a large portion of the currently existing brass quintet literature. The literature grew exponentially as the brass quintet became popular in the 1960s. Also during this time, a new genre of works emerged for brass quintet with orchestral accompaniment. The paper references fifty-seven works for the brass quintet with orchestral accompaniment that were found through music catalogues, reviews, recordings and searching JSTOR, World Cat and Google. Since the author was not able to discover any scholarly treatment of this genre, this paper will address the gap and unearth the quantity of literature available. Many of these works are unrecorded. While there are many existing scores in the literature, there is a resurgence of compositions currently being written for brass quintet with orchestral accompaniment.
