A development and implementation of a tinnitus treatment method

    Get PDF
Tinnitus is a physiological phenomenon where a person listens sounds which have not been generated by any external source. Today, many people suffer this condition. Although, in very few cases therapeutic methods completely eliminate tinnitus, it is possible to apply a variety of techniques to improve the quality of life of people with this condition. One of the most used methods to treat tinnitus consists of masking the tinnitus using an external sound. The main goal of this work is to present the development of a tinnitus treatment method, which optimizes the synthesized sounds in order to improve the life's quality of the user. Subjective tests and experimental results are used to analyze the performance of the method.Fil: Uriz, Alejandro José. Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. Facultad de Ingeniería. Efficient Parallel Carrier Recovery for Ultrahigh Speed Coherent QAM Receivers with Application to Optical Channels

    Get PDF
This work presents a new efficient parallel carrier recovery architecture suitable for ultrahigh speed intradyne coherent optical receivers (e.g., ≥100 Gb/s) with quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). The proposed scheme combines a novel low-latency parallel digital phase locked loop (DPLL) with a feedforward carrier phase recovery (CPR) algorithm. The new low-latency parallel DPLL is designed to compensate not only carrier frequency offset but also frequency fluctuations such as those induced by mechanical vibrations or power supply noise. Such carrier frequency fluctuations must be compensated since they lead to higher phase error variance in traditional feedforward CPR techniques, significantly degrading the receiver performance. In order to enable a parallel-processing implementation in multigigabit per second receivers, a new approximation to the DPLL computation is introduced. The proposed technique reduces the latency within the feedback loop of the DPLL introduced by parallel processing, while at the same time it provides a bandwidth and capture range close to those achieved by a serial DPLL. Simulation results demonstrate that the effects caused by frequency deviations can be eliminated with the proposed low latency parallel carrier recovery architecture.Fil: Gianni, Pablo. Determination of Pb using F3eO4 GO join to DPTH for ferrofluid based dispersive solid phase extraction

    Get PDF
In this work has been described a green and rapid method the synthesis of Fe3O4@GO nanospheres via chemical covalent bonding method. The Fe3O4@GO DPTH was applied to ferrofluid based dispersive solid phase extraction of lead as a model analyte using an ionic liquid carrier. The ferro fluid allows the rapid extraction of lead ions using a low amount of sorbent material. Besides, the magnetic separation greatly improved the separation rate. The presented method is highly time saving due to the high dispersion of the sorbent in the aqueous phase and also there is no need to shake the sample solution. The other benefits of the proposed methods are simplicity of operation, low cost, high sorption capacity, high recovery and high preconcentration. In order to optimize the method the following parameters were studied: sample solution pH, concentration of DPTH, extraction time, amount of sorbent, desorption conditions, influence of ionic strength, and tolerance of potentially interfering ions. The sample or standard solution containing Pb(II), DPTH (0.05% ethanol w/v), NaCl (0.5 %, w/v) and buffer (pH = 5.6) was poured into high volume. Then 240 µL of ferrofluid was injected rapidly into the sample solution through a syringe. Thereupon, a dark cloudy suspension was formed, ferrofluid was dispersed thoroughly in solution and the complex of Pb-DPTH was extracted in a few seconds. Subsequently, a strong magnet was placed at the bottom of the tube to let the extractant settle. After about 3 min, the solution became clear and the supernatant was discarded simply by decanting it. Afterwards, the magnet was removed and 1 mL of nitric acid (2.0 mol L−1) was introduced to the vial to desorb the Pb by sonication. Finally, the sorbent was separated by positioning the magnet to the outside of the tube and the concentration of Pb in acidic aqueous phase was determined by ETAAS.Universidad de Málaga.
