    Get PDF
Choosing a middle manager with management competency and capabilities will have a decisive influence on the organization\u27s development for international shipping service providers. There is ambiguity and uncertainty in the decision-making environment during the selection of a middle manager and many evaluation criteria must be considered. The main purpose of this article is to construct a fuzzy multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) model for international shipping service providers to use when selecting a middle manager. First, some methods and concepts of the fuzzy theory are introduced in this article. Five steps of evaluation model of fuzzy MCDM algorithms are then proposed to choose a best middle manager. Finally, an international shipping case is presented and the proposed fuzzy MCDM model is illustrated step by step. It can be seen from the demonstration that this evaluation model can be used to effectively select the best middle manager

Peer assessment in an oral presentation can motivate and give more sense of responsibility to students. In recent years, various methods have been proposed to evaluate peers. In this paper, a novel peer online assessment method is proposed for oral presentation using perceptual computing. The output of the proposed system can be a numerical score for the overall assessment of a student in the presentation, which allows comparison and ranking of student performance. Furthermore, a linguistic evaluation that describes the student's performance is obtained from the system. A case study has been conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed method; then the results are analyzed and reviewed.

Challenges in the development of information technology for business competition, encourage companies to make changes in increasing human resource capacity. This is done by the government in Indonesia which is responsible for adjusting managerial competencies in the companies it manages. An overview of applicable managerial competency standards and new policies by the government is a reference in identifying the design of the competency framework in this study. The purpose of this paper is to design a managerial competency framework for Indonesian state-owned companies in the face of era 4.0. This study used two studies, with mixed-methods techniques; questionnaire to post- graduate students in three colleges, interviews with the Human Resources Department and questionnaires to company managers from three sectors; banking, oil and gas and telecommunications. This finding was analyzed by considering a review of documentation and empirical literature from research that could provide a starting point for further research on competency managers in state- owned enterprises in Indonesia. This finding also identifies how the competency framework is used in building culture-fit indicators in the development of human resources. This study complements the new policy in the Indonesian government in formulating new manager competencies, and links strategic thinking with competency development in era 4.0, in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of human resources

The study explored the variation in personalized learning within and between Long Island districts. Timely insight into the relationships between technology resources and personalized learning can inform critical fiscal investments throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic and beyond. An electronic survey based on a 2017 RAND Corporation study was sent to teachers in five districts to measure their use of indicators of personalized learning. This study examined relationship between personalized learning and its subcomponents and technology support variables, including 1:1 student device access, home and school internet access, learning management system adoption, and per student dedicated technology staff. While there were large differences in student device and internet access between districts observed, the results indicated that most of the variance in personalized learning was among teachers, not districts, and is largely unrelated to district-level factors

Identifying and Prioritizing of Readiness Factors for Implementing ERP Based on Agility (Extension of McKinsey 7S Model)

    Get PDF
Studies conducted by many researchers indicate high failure rate of projects of implementing ERP systems. To penetrate in global competition market, it seems necessary to carry out studies to assess organizational readiness prior to system implementation to identify weaknesses and strengths points of the organization. Furthermore, organizations should be agile to be able to respond to market changes fast and effectively to survive in competitive environment. ERP and agility are two important tools for achieving competitive advantages. The main goal of the present study was to identify and prioritize organizational readiness factors for implementing ERP based on organizational agility. In this study, along with extension of McKinsey 7S model (strategy, structure, systems, skills, style, staff, shared values) to 9S (7S+ self-evaluation and supportive factors) model, agility criteria were weighted and rated using group AHP with fuzzy logic approach; so that accountability, speed and flexibility have obtained the maximum score. The nine organizational readiness factors were ranked using integrated FAHP and TOPSIS method based on five criteria of agility. The framework was proposed to a real case of Shiraz distribution cooperative firms. Results showed that among the nine organizational dimensions based on agility, the two added to McKinsey dimensions (self-evaluation and supportive factors) are ranked in the first and fourth places. The proposed framework help the firms “to implement ERP system with agility approach” concentrate on effective empowerments and develop strategies based on their own priority

Systematic Literature Review of Project Manager’s Leadership Competencies

    Get PDF
Purpose: Over the last few decades, a large number of research studies have been carried out on project manager’s leadership competencies. However, systematic literature reviews are still scarce in the project management literature. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to conduct a systematic literature review on project manager’s leadership competencies based on published empirical research studies. Methodology: We employed a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology to synthesize research in a rigorous manner and a total of 1,780 articles were identified in the first step and a final sample of 60 research studies were synthesized. Findings: Synthesis of the findings in this SLR on project manager’s leadership competencies revealed: a) there is a lack of categorization or ranking of leadership competencies; b) 20 research studies (46%) were conducted with sample sizes of less than 100; c) only a few research studies (<10%) used interview data for analysis; and d) none of the research studies reported adoption of a triangulation method. Implications/Limitations: This study prioritized project manager’s leadership competencies as ‘high priority’, ‘moderate priority’, and ‘low priority’. We recommend a sample size between 200 and 300 to produce sophisticated results and enhance the credibility, generalizability and validity of future research. Originality: Future research studies are suggested to consider systematic literature review combined with face-to-face and group interview in addition to employing triangulation methods. Besides highlighting implications for practitioners, this SLR has advanced the understanding of how to conduct systematic literature reviews in a robust manner
