Personalised feedback in the promotion of responsible gambling: a brief overview
Research into gambling has shown that irrational gambling-related cognitions linked to randomness and probabilities contribute to the initiation and maintenance of problematic gambling. A small body of empirical research has shown that educational programs about erroneous beliefs in gambling can successfully help change such cognitions. Studies have also shown that the way information is presented to gamblers is significant. Personalized behavioral feedback has been studied in many other areas outside of the gambling area (e.g., cigarette smoking). These examples from related areas suggest that behavioral feedback could also work in promoting responsible gambling. These approaches aim to change a personâs behavior via behavioral feedback. Such approaches are based on both the âstages of changeâ model and motivational interviewing. Therefore, in order to change peopleâs gambling behavior using behavioral tracking data, player feedback should also be presented in a tailored and motivational way, and take into account the stages of change model
A Survey on Economic-driven Evaluations of Information Technology
The economic-driven evaluation of information technology (IT) has become an important instrument in the management of IT projects. Numerous approaches have been developed to quantify the costs of an IT investment and its assumed profit, to evaluate its impact on business process performance, and to analyze the role of IT regarding the achievement of enterprise objectives. This paper discusses approaches for evaluating IT from an economic-driven perspective. Our comparison is based on a framework distinguishing between classification criteria and evaluation criteria. The former allow for the categorization of evaluation approaches based on their similarities and differences. The latter, by contrast, represent attributes that allow to evaluate the discussed approaches. Finally, we give an example of a typical economic-driven IT evaluation
Evaluation Practices of Electronic Resources in University Libraries in South East Nigeria
This paper is an empirical study of evaluation practices of electronic resources in university libraries in South East Nigeria. The study determines the criteria considered in evaluating electronic resources, the adequacy of use of the electronic resources and the extent of use of the electronic resources by university libraries in South East Nigeria. It employed a descriptive survey design. The population of the study was 2595 respondents consisting of 2509 postgraduate users and 86 librarians in collection development, serials and digital library (e-library). A 10% proportionate sampling technique was used to select a sample of 251 user respondents while all the 86 librarians working in collection development, serials and digital library units (e-library) were used. The survey used questionnaire and interview as instruments of data collection. Data collected were tabulated and analyzed using simple statistics (mean). The result revealed the criteria used by the libraries under study to evaluate their resources which include cost effectiveness based on the number of searches; relevance of the research on campus and the curriculum of the library users; dissatisfaction with a resource; access criteria on the technical reliability of the content provider; the database can be ranked by acquiring statistics; comparing duplication in various formats or overlap in full-text resources. The result also revealed that the greater number of the electronic resources is high adequacy and that all the electronic resources are used to a great extent by the users. That shows that the users are accessing it and using it for their research and learning. The study recommended regular evaluation of library electronic resources considering the stated criteria to ensure that usersâ needs are met; the university libraries should ensure that electronic resources under subscription are properly evaluated and accessed by library users to guide in continuity or cancellation of the resources if otherwise

Does social media usage matter? An analysis of online practices and digital media perceptions of communication practitioners in Europe
A key aspect for understanding and explaining online communication is the micro level of communication practitionersâ social media usage and their general attitudes towards digital platforms. This paper investigates how public relations practitioner's personal and professional use of social media is related to their perceptions of social media. A quantitative methodology was applied to perform this research. A population of 2710 professionals from 43 European countries working on different hierarchical levels both in communication departments and agencies across Europe were surveyed as part of a larger transnational online survey. Results show that practitioners with a high level of usage of social media give more importance to social media channels, influence of social media on internal and external stakeholders and relevance of key gatekeepers and stakeholders along with a better self-estimation of competences. Issues about diverse levels of overestimation of social media use, application and importance in the professional arena are also debated
Analyzing the Effectiveness of Digital Marketing Tools for Marketing Luxury Apartments
The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital marketing tools focusing on social media and website marketing, in promoting luxury apartments. The study collected data from real estate developers and marketers involved in the sale of luxury apartments, and the sample size was 95 respondents. A structured questionnaire survey was employed as the primary data collection method. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 24). Descriptive statistics including frequencies, mean values, and percentages, were employed to analyze the data. The findings of the study indicate that both social media and website marketing are effective digital marketing tools for promoting luxury apartments. However, the study highlights that websites exhibit greater effectiveness compared to social media platforms in marketing luxury apartments. The outcomes of this research contribute valuable insights to real estate developers and marketers, guiding them in identifying the most suitable digital marketing tools for selling luxury apartments. By leveraging the knowledge gained from this study, real estate professionals can enhance their marketing performance and optimize their digital marketing strategies.
