Open collaboration strategy of international retailers: an analysis of co-creator

    Get PDF
Nowadays, online channels provide better distribution and communication strategies between companies and consumers. The importance of establishing online tools based on innovations and customer participation, is equally applicable to the international retail sector. Retail companies are able to reach consumers through their online channels, providing better ways to stand out from competitors. The options of joint open collaboration between international retails brands and its consumers implicate a transformation about the traditional communication between customers and companies. The objective of the present work is to analyze how the consumer experience is perceived after its participation in online co-creation actions, proposed by retail brands in the United Kingdom and Spain. The main purpose of this research is to consider how online co-creation initiatives, in the fashion industry sector, have a significant influence on co-creation experience, as well as, on relevant aspects, such as engagement or customer satisfaction.Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad. The study focuses on fashion Small Medium Entreprises (SMEs) in Indonesia utilizing strategies and efforts to develop value creations. It is generated by co-creation and collaboration strategy which are supported by market attractiveness and dynamic capabilities. The objectives of this study are to perform analysis on co-creation, collaboration strategy and value creations of SMEs in fashion industry. The research method is descriptive and explanatory survey. The sample size are thirty one SMEs in Bandung and Partial Least Square (PLS) technique was used to test the hypothesis model. The unique findings is co-creation and collaboration strategy have influence on value creations. Market attractiveness or potential profitability be a major input in formulating and implementing both strategies. The phenomena depicted that optimizing market attractiveness and dynamic input capabilities can help SMEs formulate and implement co-creation and collaboration strategy more effectively to create value for customers (value creations). This research gave theoritical recommendation for fashion industry to enhance their value creations process and to develop co-creation and collaborations strategy. &nbsp

The determination of αs\alpha_s by the ALPHA collaboration

We review the ALPHA collaboration strategy for obtaining the QCD coupling at high scale. In the three-flavor effective theory it avoids the use of perturbation theory at α>0.2\alpha > 0.2 and at the same time has the physical scales small compared to the cutoff 1/a1/a in all stages of the computation. The result \Lambda_\overline{MS}^{(3)}=332(14)~MeV is translated to \alpha_\overline{MS}(m_Z)=0.1179(10)(2) by use of (high order) perturbative relations between the effective theory couplings at the charm and beauty quark "thresholds". The error of this perturbative step is discussed and estimated as 0.00020.0002.Comment: 7 pages, proceedings of FPCapri2016 conferenc

Nonprofit-business collaboration strategy: operationalising a strategy for nonprofit organisations

Nonprofit organizations (NPOs)1 have become a key provider of public services (Kelly, 2007). In recent years, however, the environment in which NPOs operate has become increasingly challenging due to a number of factors, including an increase in uncertainty over government funding policy (Akingbola, 2004, Anheier, 2009), an intensification in rivalry between NPOs (Chew and Osborne, 2009), and a lack of employee commitment (Kong, 2008). Osborne et al. (2012) have found that in response to such challenges NPOs are, for instance, re-engineering their operations to reduce overhead costs, achieving economies of scale through merging with counterparts, emphasizing the leadership role of trustees, and replacing government funding with new and untraditional streams of income. This chapter concerns the latter in regard to nonprofit business collaboration (NBC), specifically how and under what conditions NPOs can collaborate with businesses to support their organizational sustainability. As a strategic option for NPOs, this aspect of NBC inquiry has been largely overlooked (Al-Tabbaa et al., 2014, Cantrell et al., 2008, Harris, 2012). The chapter is organized into three principal sections. In the first, we review the NBC literature and present the concept of NBC as a tripartite value-creation mechanism. Importantly, we use this review to identify a salient gap in the nonprofit and NBC literatures: NBC from the perspective of the NPO. In addressing this gap, the second section introduces a conceptual framework that we developed to assist NPOs in developing and operationalizing an NBC strategy. The framework is based on the three elements of strategy: context (the environment in which an organization operates), content (the choices to achieve the strategy purpose) and process (the formulation and implementation of the chosen strategy) (Pettigrew, 1985, Pettigrew and Whipp, 1991). However, using this concept of strategy to study public services providers (e.g., NPOs) can be criticized due to its manufacturing origins (Beck et al., 2008, Dart, 2004). Therefore, we review the service management approach (Osborne et al., 2013, Osborne, 2009, Thomas, 2012) to demonstrate how our framework, and it theoretical foundation , is still relevant to NPOs, thus enhancing its validity. We conclude the chapter with an evaluation of NBC-related risks and threats to NPOs and consider implications for future research and practice

TOKO BAITUL PANGAN: PROMOTING THE MOSQUE ECONOMY THROUGH COLLABORATION STRATEGY

Understanding collaboration in volunteer computing systems

Volunteer computing is a paradigm in which devices participating in a distributed environment share part of their resources to help others perform their activities. The effectiveness of this computing paradigm depends on the collaboration attitude adopted by the participating devices. Unfortunately for software designers it is not clear how to contribute with local resources to the shared environment without compromising resources that could then be required by the contributors. Therefore, many designers adopt a conservative position when defining the collaboration strategy to be embedded in volunteer computing applications. This position produces an underutilization of the devices’ local resources and reduces the effectiveness of these solutions. This article presents a study that helps designers understand the impact of adopting a particular collaboration attitude to contribute with local resources to the distributed shared environment. The study considers five collaboration strategies, which are analyzed in computing environments with both, abundance and scarcity of resources. The obtained results indicate that collaboration strategies based on effort-based incentives work better than those using contribution-based incentives. These results also show that the use of effort-based incentives does not jeopardize the availability of local resources for the local needs.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
