    Get PDF
Although the measurement of offline and online marketing is extensively researched, the literature on online performance measurement still has a number of limitations such as slow theory advancement and predominance of technology- and practitioner-driven measurement approaches. By focusing on the widely employed but under-researched affiliate marketing channel, this study addresses these limitations and evaluates the effectiveness of practitioner-led online performance assessment. The paper offers a comprehensive review of extant performance measurement research across traditional, online and affiliate marketing and, employing grounded theory, presents a qualitative in-depth analysis of 72 online forum discussions and 37 semi-structured interviews with the major affiliate marketing stakeholders. As a result, the research identifies a growing need for change in the technology-pushed measurement approaches in affiliate marketing, and proposes actionable improvement recommendations for affiliate and online marketing managers

Online presence is essential for tourism organisations, and the quality of websites can influence customers. In the case of hotels, there are many studies to evaluate website performance based on functionality, usability and other factors, much less on the amount of different information available to the consumer. In the near future by using Big Data it is expected that hotel websites will be dynamic, they will adapt themselves on-the-fly, showing personalized information to each consumer. Different consumers will have different websites (information? available) from the same hotel. This paper presents a framework for the characterisation of hotel websites, focusing on the amount of information available to the consumer in each website, which was applied in a case study during the last months of 2013 to the websites of five-star hotels that operate in the tourist region of the Algarve, Portugal. The framework allowed to identify a set of exhaustive indicators for hotel website characterisation, which were then grouped into ten fundamental information dimensions. These dimensions further fell into four dimension groups. Finally, it is presented and discussed quantitative and qualitative evaluations, that illustrates which indicators and dimensions are more often considered on hotel websites to satisfy the consumer?s information needs

QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) is an environment to evaluate, through objective measures, the quality of Model-DrivenWeb Engineering (MDWE) methodologies. In this paper, this environment is presented and is used for the evaluation of the Maintainability in terms of various characteristics on MDWE. Given the high number of methodologies available and proposed over recent years, it has become necessary to define objective evaluation tools to enable organizations to improve their methodological environment and to help designers of web methodologies design new effective and efficient tools, processes and techniques and find out how it can be improved and how the quality improvement process could be optimized in order to reduce costs. This evaluation is applied to the NDT (Navigational Development Techniques) methodology, an approach that covers the complete life cycle and it is mainly oriented to the enterprise environment.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007–67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2010–20057-C03–0

Author version made available in accordance with the publisher's policyThe objective of this systematic review was to identify types of approaches and methods used to evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare information websites. Simple usage data may not be sufficient to assess if the desired healthcare outcomes were achieved or to determine the relative effectiveness of different web resources on the same health topic. To establish the state of the knowledge base on assessment methods used to determine the effectiveness of healthcare websites, a structured search of the literature was conducted in Ovid Medline resulting in 1,611 articles retrieved, of which 240 met the inclusion criteria for this review. Results of this review found that diverse evaluation methods were used to measure the effectiveness of healthcare websites. These evaluation methods were used during development, prior to release, and after release. Economic assessment was rare and most evaluations looked at content issues such as readability scores. A number of studies did try to assess the usefulness of websites but few studies looked at behaviour change or knowledge transfer following engagement with the designated health website. To assess the effectiveness of the knowledge transfer of healthcare information through the online environment, multiple methods may need to be used to evaluate healthcare websites and may need to be undertaken at all stages of the website development process

Impact Of Website Usability On Performance: A Heuristic Evaluation Of Community Bank Homepage Implementation

    Get PDF
Many businesses are now using Internet websites as a competitive tool to attract new customers, improve service quality, and boost overall financial performance. Recent studies have identified a number of website development and evaluation guidelines required to enhance the effectiveness of these new technologies in achieving these goals. One of these guidelines relates to the importance of website usability in improving business performance. To achieve this goal, a unified measure of web usability is developed using a number of relevant guidelines, which were initially proposed by Nielsen and Tahir (2002), and then the estimated index is used to measure its impact on community bank performance. Results based on a multiple regression model show that banks with higher usability score perform significantly better than those with lower score

Higher Education Institute (HEI) website is one of the platforms to promote academic programs as well as research, publication, and consultation activities; and so forth, that may contribute to the university achievements towards advancing its position in the local and international university ranking list. The website is also important in gaining the trust of stakeholders of the educational programs offered by the respective universities. Besides being able to efficiently provide required information to potential students, the HEI website should also ensure that the information can be accessed easily. The creation of such website is certainly not an easy task whereby some of the existing websites are not accessible due to its poor design. Thus, there is a need to design a high quality HEI website based on one of the quality standards such as the ISO 9126-1. This study aims to evaluate the quality of HEI websites in meeting the requirements of potential students. The evaluation focuses on the students’ perspectives of the observed HEI websites. A survey was conducted involving five established Yemeni universities websites. This study adopted the ISO 9126-1 software quality standard as the based theory. In addition, a few other related factors to content and requirements of HEI website were also taken into consideration. A HEI website evaluation model was constructed comprises of six quality factors: usability, content, web appearance, efficiency, functionality, and service quality. Based on the model, an online questionnaire was constructed for collecting data. The respondents of this study were 125 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The valid returned questionnaires were then analyzed using the SPSS software, PLS-SEM technique and WEBUSE analysis method. Even though, the hypothesis testing results showed that all hypotheses are acceptable, there were two quality factors that did not have significant effect on the HEI website quality: content and efficiency. In addition, the results revealed that the overall quality level of the HEI websites is good. However, some weaknesses in certain aspects were found, such as the searching function, design, content, and performance. This study also provides some suggestions for enhancing the website quality of the observed university website
