Computing approximate PSD factorizations
We give an algorithm for computing approximate PSD factorizations of
nonnegative matrices. The running time of the algorithm is polynomial in the
dimensions of the input matrix, but exponential in the PSD rank and the
approximation error. The main ingredient is an exact factorization algorithm
when the rows and columns of the factors are constrained to lie in a general
polyhedron. This strictly generalizes nonnegative matrix factorizations which
can be captured by letting this polyhedron to be the nonnegative orthant.Comment: 10 page

Rule Value Reinforcement Learning for Cognitive Agents
RVRL (Rule Value Reinforcement Learning) is a new algorithm which extends an existing learning framework that models the environment of a situated agent using a probabilistic rule representation. The algorithm attaches values to learned rules by adapting reinforcement learning. Structure captured by the rules is used to form a policy. The resulting rule values represent the utility of taking an action if the rule`s conditions are present in the agent`s current percept. Advantages of the new framework are demonstrated, through examples in a predator-prey environment
Modelling Garbage Collection Algorithms --- Extend abstract
We show how abstract requirements of garbage collection can be captured using temporal logic. The temporal logic specification can then be used as a basis for process algebra specifications which can involve varying amounts of parallelism. We present two simple CCS specifications as an example, followed by a more complex specification of the cyclic reference counting algorithm. The verification of such algorithms is then briefly discussed
