Blockchain and the Internet of Things are uprising in today鈥檚 technology world. Internet of Things or IoT are the devices with unique identifiers that share data or information over the internet whereas, Blockchain is a peer to peer network with a distributed ledger that contains a list of blocks that are linked together by cryptography. Fascinated and motivated by blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT), this thesis provides a review on blockchain based internet of things and also introduces a working testbed that integrates the two together. It also uses IoT device to invoke transactions into the blockchain. The reasons behind combining of blockchain and IoT is because the present centralized architecture won鈥檛 hold the exponentially growing use of IoT, blockchain implementation can reduce cost and moreover, decentralization will remove the bottleneck from the centralized server

This research presents a vision about the Blockchain (BC) technology, starting with its definition, its structure, the current scenario in which it is working, followed by the areas in which this technology is applied and, finally the implications of its use. The objective of this document is to motivate society to learn the functionality of this technology currently implemented by developed countries in different scenarios, but as it is being explored, countries with few resources can use it for the purpose of increasing security, saving time and cost in different processes. With the approaches being currently given to Blockchain and towards where it is being focused every year, it makes it one of the greatest technological pillars in the field of security and privacy.

A Review on Blockchain for the Internet of Medical Things: Definitions, Challenges, Applications, and Vision

none3noNowadays, there are a lot of new mobile devices that have the potential to assist healthcare professionals when working and help to increase the well-being of the people. These devices comprise the Internet of Medical Things, but it is generally difficult for healthcare institutions to meet compliance of their systems with new medical solutions efficiently. A technology that promises the sharing of data in a trust-less scenario is the Distributed Ledger Technology through its properties of decentralization, immutability, and transparency. The Blockchain and the Internet of Medical Things can be considered as at an early stage, and the implementations successfully applying the technology are not so many. Some aspects covered by these implementations are data sharing, interoperability of systems, security of devices, the opportunity of data monetization and data ownership that will be the focus of this review.openGioele Bigini;Valerio Freschi;Emanuele LattanziBigini, Gioele; Freschi, Valerio; Lattanzi, Emanuel

Objective: Blockchain technology, including its main features, is introduced. The P6 medicine model for patient-centered care is also shown, and finally, the applications of Blockchain technology as a security and interoperability layer for IoT medical devices and hospital information systems is presented. Methodology: A review of the publications registered in the bibliographic collections of IEEE Xplore and Scopus was carried out, with a filter on publications focused on Blockchain, IoT and health, in addition. The analysis of the articles focused on the approach of a functional congruence scenario of these three elements. Results: Blockchain and IoT applications for comprehensive health care are presented, with an outline of the interaction of Blockchain technology between hospital information systems and IoT medical sensors to create the necessary conditions in the implementation of the P6 medicine. Conclusions: The application of Blockchain technology was identified as the necessary interoperability layer to allow interoperability between hospital information systems, research centers, patients, doctors and the interested community, to generate a reliable environment for the flow of information among the actors that allow it, and will enhance streamline research and healthcare processes.

IoT Health Devices: Exploring Security Risks in the Connected Landscape

The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) spans decades, and the same can be said for its inclusion in healthcare. The IoT is an attractive target in medicine; it offers considerable potential in expanding care. However, the application of the IoT in healthcare is fraught with an array of challenges, and also, through it, numerous vulnerabilities that translate to wider attack surfaces and deeper degrees of damage possible to both consumers and their confidence within health systems, as a result of patient-specific data being available to access. Further, when IoT health devices (IoTHDs) are developed, a diverse range of attacks are possible. To understand the risks in this new landscape, it is important to understand the architecture of IoTHDs, operations, and the social dynamics that may govern their interactions. This paper aims to document and create a map regarding IoTHDs, lay the groundwork for better understanding security risks in emerging IoTHD modalities through a multi-layer approach, and suggest means for improved governance and interaction. We also discuss technological innovations expected to set the stage for novel exploits leading into the middle and latter parts of the 21st century
