Security challenges and solutions for e-business
The advantages of economic growth and increasing ease of operation afforded by e-business and e-commerce developments are unfortunately matched by growth in cyber attacks. This paper outlines the common attacks faced by e-business and describes the defenses that can be used against them. It also reviews the development of newer security defense methods. These are: (1) biometrics for authentication; parallel processing to increase power and speed of defenses; (2) data mining and machine learning to identify attacks; (3) peer-to-peer security using blockchains; 4) enterprise security modelling and security as a service; and (5) user education and engagement. The review finds overall that one of the most prevalent dangers is social engineering in the form of phishing attacks. Recommended counteractions include education and training, and the development of new machine learning and data sharing approaches so that attacks can be quickly discovered and mitigated
Mobile Business as Strategic Tools in the US Airline Industry
This thesis analyzes opportunities and threats of mobile business in the context of the US airline industry as s strategic tool to create a sustainable competitive advantage through the implementation of an effective mobile business model. The analysis is based on the assumption that mobile airline strategies have to create a strategic fit with the business environment seen from an airline perspective. Forces inherent in the global environment as well as in the micro-environment are analyzed using environmental scanning as systematic technique. Exploratory data obtained from a focus group interview is added to the analysis in order to assess opportunities and threats and to extract the key success factors for airline m-business, which is found to have tremendous impact on the way an airline creates value to its customers. Key success factors discussed in this thesis are user experience, the value contribution of mobile technology, and customer requirements. Crucial elements found for matching these factors are to expedite and facilitate processes, the ability to integrate systems into a mobile infrastructure, and using devices that yield quick and inexpensive results

The conference is jointly organized by the Porto Accounting and Business School - Porto Polytechnic (ISCAP), Portugal, University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT), Sofia, Bulgaria and University of Leon, Spain.
BOBCATSSS is an international annual symposium which addresses hot topics for librarians and information professionals in a fast-changing environment. It is created by and for students, teachers, researchers and professionals in the information field. BOBCATSSS is held under the auspices of BOBCATSSS Association (https://bobcatsss.info/, former EUCLID (European Association for Library and Information Education and Research). It is a tradition which has been passed on from one European country to another since 1993, providing a rich professional conference, accompanied by numerous opportunities for networking, personal exchanges, discussions, and learning.

Information and communication technologies have a great impact on society, namely concerning the immediacy of access to information, the constant increase in the available information volume, the automation of services, the dematerialization of processes, the change in supports and formats, the attention to the client and changes in the behaviour of individuals. These impacts are also felt in the way people interact with information, in professional, academic, personal and playful terms.
Soon, half of the consumers will be digital natives, and this will force the digital transformation in organizations, creating new opportunities for change, including in organizational, cultural and legal standards.
Digital transformation as an effect of a process marked by the influence of ICT in society will influence changes in every social dimension, including business models and in the way they develop, with ICT and, inseparably, information, having a leading role in any organization.
According to Rogers (2016)1 and Herbert (2017)2, it is possible to identify five domains where the digital transformation takes place, and which are based on the transversal use of ICT:
1. Customers, who interact dynamically with organizations
2. Competition, which impliesa differentiation of organizations in relation to the consumer / final customer
3. Information, which due to its essential nature for the business, whether structured or not, will require an increasingly strict management
4. Innovation, focusing on the development of new ideas

An Investigation into the Critical Success Factors for E-Banking Frauds Prevention in Nigeria
E-Banking frauds is an issue experienced globally and continues to prove costly to both banks and customers. Frauds in e-banking services occur due to various compromises in security, ranging from weak authentication systems to insufficient internal controls. Although some security frameworks to address this issue of fraud have been proposed, the problem of e-banking fraud remains due to the inability of these framework to deal with organisational issues. With limited research in this area, the study sets out to identify the organisational Critical Success Factors (CSF) for E-Banking Frauds Prevention in Nigeria by applying CSF theory. A framework is proposed to help improve security from an organisational perspective.
The study adopted a mixture of philosophical paradigms which led to the triangulation of research methods; Literature Review, Survey and Case Studies. The Literature Review involved the synthesis of existing literature and identified potential CSF for frauds prevention in e-banking. A total of 28 factors were identified and a conceptual framework was proposed. A 5-point Likert scale survey questionnaire was sent to retail bank staff in Nigeria to rate the criticality of the factors. A total of 110 useable responses were received at a response rate of 23.9%. Similar interrelated factors were grouped using a Principal Component Analysis. Finally, case studies with 4 banks in Nigeria were carried out to deepen our understanding.
The study identified a total of 10 CSF which spanned across strategic, operational and technological factor categories. These included âManagement Commitmentâ, âEngagement of Subject Matter Expertsâ and âMulti-Layer Authenticationâ amongst others. In addition, new CSF such as âRisk-Based Transactional Controlsâ, âPeople Awareness & Trainingâ and âBank Agility via Data Driven Decision Makingâ were identified. Finally, these CSF were grouped into an e-banking frauds prevention framework. This study is a pioneer study that extends theory to propose a CSF-based frauds prevention framework for banks in Nigeria

Authentication technology methods for E-Commerce applications in Nigeria â a case for biometric digital security contactless palm vein authentication
E-Commerce has become one of the most interesting and beneficial Internet-enabled systems for humanity. E-Commerce has served as an economic enabler and driver for developed countries because of the total adoption by their citizens. However, in Nigeria citizens have rejected E-Commerce due to a lack of trust and inadequate security.
This research identifies several factors that lead to distrust of E-Commerce systems in Nigeria. These factors: perceived fear, security, perceived risk, trust, usability, perceived advantage, and use of web assurance seal services are very important for intention to adopt E-Commerce as an online transaction technology.
This thesis uses a novel Design Fiction and E-Commerce website simulation methodology to show citizens how new and improved security in E-Commerce could increase those citizens' trust and thus increase their intention to adopt E-Commerce. The research surveys a broad demographic sample of citizens from Nigeria who completed a set of tasks associated with the novel Design Fiction and E-Commerce website simulation followed by a detailed questionnaire. The questionnaire, with associated items, was designed to answer the research questions and hypothesis based on the E-Commerce Adoption Model proposed in the thesis.
This new E-Commerce Adoption model is based on the Technology Acceptance Model and uses to comparatively test Digital Signature, Finger Print Identification, and Contactless Palm Vein Authentication technologies in E-Commerce transactions. Results from the survey show that Contactless Palm Vein Authentication leads to greater trust in E-Commerce in Nigeria.
The thesis research findings also indicate that new improved security authentication techniques are overdue. The research indicates that poor E-Commerce adoption in Nigeria is mainly due to a key identified factor, which is security. The conceptual model and trust model are developed for E-Commerce adoption in Nigeria. Therefore, it shows that citizens are willing to accept Contactless Palm Vein Authentication as a solution. In particular, the research results also show that there are strong relationships between all the identified factors and citizensâ intention to adopt E-Commerce in Nigeria thus rejecting all null hypotheses
Consumers Perspectives on Using Biometric Technology With Mobile Banking
The need for applying biometric technology in mobile banking is increasing due to emerging security issues, and many banksâ chief executive officers have integrated biometric solutions into their mobile application protocols to address these evolving security risks. This quantitative study was performed to evaluate how the opinions and beliefs of banking customers in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States might influence their adoption of mobile banking applications that included biometric technology. The research question was designed to explore how performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC), perceived credibility (PC), and task-technology fit (TTF) affected customer adoption of biometric technology with mobile banking. The conceptual framework extended the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology by including PC and TTF. The responses to a web-based questionnaire that was distributed to 228 mobile banking customers were analyzed using SPSS AMOS (Version 23) to create structural equation models, a multiple linear regression model, and an analysis of variance (ANOVA) model. The results showed that PE, EE, TTF, and FC were the significant factors affecting customer acceptance of biometric technology with mobile banking. SI and PC were nonsignificant factors and had low positive correlations. The results of this study suggest that biometric technology can mitigate the risks associated with security attacks by identifying the customer during the bank transaction. The results also support positive social change by demonstrating how biometric technology can secure banks from fraud, prevent crime, and improve liveness detection
Advantages of application of Electronic Commerce in procurement for the Armed Forces of Brazil and South Korea
This thesis examines the prospects for international implementation of E-Commerce (EC) in the contexts of the armed forces of Brazil and South Korea. It describes the functions, roles and infrastructure of EC technology. It weighs the advantages and disadvantages of E-Commerce. Particular attention is paid to legal issues, electronic funds transfer and on-line reverse auctions. An E-Commerce implementation plan is presented, benchmarked on the experience of the United States military in using EC to reduce costs and enhance readiness.
