Design and evaluation of acceleration strategies for speeding up the development of dialog applications

    Get PDF
In this paper, we describe a complete development platform that features different innovative acceleration strategies, not included in any other current platform, that simplify and speed up the definition of the different elements required to design a spoken dialog service. The proposed accelerations are mainly based on using the information from the backend database schema and contents, as well as cumulative information produced throughout the different steps in the design. Thanks to these accelerations, the interaction between the designer and the platform is improved, and in most cases the design is reduced to simple confirmations of the “proposals” that the platform dynamically provides at each step. In addition, the platform provides several other accelerations such as configurable templates that can be used to define the different tasks in the service or the dialogs to obtain or show information to the user, automatic proposals for the best way to request slot contents from the user (i.e. using mixed-initiative forms or directed forms), an assistant that offers the set of more probable actions required to complete the definition of the different tasks in the application, or another assistant for solving specific modality details such as confirmations of user answers or how to present them the lists of retrieved results after querying the backend database. Additionally, the platform also allows the creation of speech grammars and prompts, database access functions, and the possibility of using mixed initiative and over-answering dialogs. In the paper we also describe in detail each assistant in the platform, emphasizing the different kind of methodologies followed to facilitate the design process at each one. Finally, we describe the results obtained in both a subjective and an objective evaluation with different designers that confirm the viability, usefulness, and functionality of the proposed accelerations. Thanks to the accelerations, the design time is reduced in more than 56% and the number of keystrokes by 84%

    Process evaluation distributed system

The distributed system includes a database server, an administration module, a process evaluation module, and a data display module. The administration module is in communication with the database server for providing observation criteria information to the database server. The process evaluation module is in communication with the database server for obtaining the observation criteria information from the database server and collecting process data based on the observation criteria information. The process evaluation module utilizes a personal digital assistant (PDA). A data display module in communication with the database server, including a website for viewing collected process data in a desired metrics form, the data display module also for providing desired editing and modification of the collected process data. The connectivity established by the database server to the administration module, the process evaluation module, and the data display module, minimizes the requirement for manual input of the collected process data

Classification systems in general and the DSM-IV in particular have a important significance in psychiatric diagnostic. In my doctorial thesis, I was discussing questions of the structure of the DSM-IV.To discuss those questions, I ordered the diagnosis criteria of the diseases anxiety disorders and somatoform disorders of the DSM-IV after the principals of the Information-gain- theory. Afterwards I compared the new order with the order given by the DSM-IV. A patient-based evaluation was not performed. The new, information-gain-based, order was possible with an assistant system, written by Dominik Lübbers in 2001. Its primary goal is to help the physician with differential diagnosis. It was possible to establish a database with all diagnosis and to transform them into the assistant system. With the assistant system, it was possible to calculate the information-gain data. The result of the calculation was, that the information-gain-based order is only in few diagnosis more useful, most of the time, the order in the DSM-IV is more useful. In most cases, where the order in the DSM-IV was more useful, an criterion for exclusion had a higher level in the information-gain-calculation.But there were also situations, where the information-gain-based order was more useful . In those cases, the diagnosis criteria in the DSM-IV were only a listing without structur

Thesis report with the title "Assistant Lecturer Attendance System Using QR Scanner Codr Android Based on Information Systems Studies Program Muria Kudus University" has been carried out by analyzing the problems of absenteeism assistant professors are not computerized. Produce teaching assistant attendance system using a QR Code Scanner android based at the University Studies Program Information System Muria Kudus, so as to further facilitate the teaching assistant to confirm their attendance and also facilitate Laboran when doing monthly recap. The system is designed using UML modeling. While the programming language used is PHP and the MySQL database ANDROID. Results of this design is an Android and web-based applications for an Assistant Lecturer Information Systems Studies Program Faculty of Engineering University of Muria Kudus

The process of attendance information that already exists at Palangka Raya University Informatics Engineering cannot be monitored or is still sharing manually using social media, especially such as informing the presence / presence of lecturers on campus for consultation or signature documents. The purpose of this research is to design and build a Mobile Assistant Application for Informatics Engineering at Palangka Raya University, whose development is based on Location Based Service using a prototype methodology with stages of Communication, Quick plan, Modeling Quick Design, Prototype Formation, Deployment Delivery & Feedback. The modeling of the system uses Java Android object-oriented programming and structured for web applications using the programming language using PHP database using MySQL. From the research conducted, the writer implements the results of the research into the Mobile Assistant Application of the Informatics Engineering Department of Palangka Raya University where there are features of lecturer attendance, class schedules and practicum, as well as assignments. The application of Location Based Service in this application is applied to the Google Map API with geofencing, the central point of the Informatics Engineering department is made a marker that generates a radius where if the application user enters into each radius it will produce a room information notification and send an update of the data to the database as the presence status lecturer.         &nbsp

Medical Laboratory Specimen Tracking System Using RFID Technology (e-Specimen)

The objective of this project is to tracking the medical samples in the hospital using radio frequency identification (RFID). Medical Laboratory Specimen Tracking System (e- Specimen) includes a range of specimen bottle tagged with an RFID tag and a system that can read and write the details about specimen. RFID is a system that transmits the identity of any object (in the form of a unique serial number) wirelessly using radio waves. The specimen bottle labeled using RFID tag and the details about it and patients will be computerized in database, so doctor and lab assistant easily can access to the database to view the information. The possibility also exists for a wide range of more advanced applications ranging for using RFIDtechnology for asset and patient tracking in the health care industry

Curve Negotiation: Identifying Driver Behavior Around Curves with the Driver Performance Database

Approximately one quarter of all accidents outside city limits occur while driving around curves, where assistance systems could prevent the driver from negotiating curves with excessive speed. This study argues that the parameterizing of a Driving Assistant System could be realized with data from realistic, noncritical driving behavior offered by Naturalistic Driving Studies. The Driver Performance Database presented in this study provides a tool for observing normal, noncritical driving behavior. The Database contains results from road tests with an instrumented vehicle that were carried out on public road traffic on a predetermined route, which was precisely measured in advance. In addition to vehicle state parameters, we also collected data concerning the driving environment and physiological information. With the Driver Performance Database it is possible to generate different facets of human driving behavior in a descriptive and normative way, which is illustrated by driver behavior in curve negotiation

ABSTRACT  Computerized system facilitate a lot of work can be settled by faster, more accurate and more can reduce the use of paper especially assist in the process of finding data. The lab computers the information system is one part which can be helped by the computerized system. One of its activities is the process of training an assistant who involving the entire assistan and much use of data and file. Processes occurring at activities training is entry data assistant active and data new assistant will carry out a process training, harvest material training to make a schedule training, continued with a training that is both offline that will produce judgment to any assistants in any matter ended by making report of the activities training. By the presence of information systems training who computerized will minimise the use of paper, facilitate a groove jobs and especially facilitate the manufacture of reports as well as for finding data. The writing of this design subjects ranging from training, information system  the manufacture of connectedness between entity until the stage design of a database that are used.  Keywords: the information system, training, an assistant, data, a tabl
