Datanet: Deep Learning Based Encrypted Network Traffic Classification in SDN Home Gateway

    Get PDF
A smart home network will support various smart devices and applications, e.g., home automation devices, E-health devices, regular computing devices, and so on. Most devices in a smart home access the Internet through a home gateway (HGW). In this paper, we propose a software-defined network (SDN)-HGW framework to better manage distributed smart home networks and support the SDN controller of the core network. The SDN controller enables efficient network quality-of-service management based on real-time traffic monitoring and resource allocation of the core network. However, it cannot provide network management in distributed smart homes. Our proposed SDN-HGW extends the control to the access network, i.e., a smart home network, for better end-to-end network management. Specifically, the proposed SDN-HGW can achieve distributed application awareness by classifying data traffic in a smart home network. Most existing traffic classification solutions, e.g., deep packet inspection, cannot provide real-time application awareness for encrypted data traffic. To tackle those issues, we develop encrypted data classifiers (denoted as DataNets) based on three deep learning schemes, i.e., multilayer perceptron, stacked autoencoder, and convolutional neural networks, using an open data set that has over 200 000 encrypted data samples from 15 applications. A data preprocessing scheme is proposed to process raw data packets and the tested data set so that DataNet can be created. The experimental results show that the developed DataNets can be applied to enable distributed application-aware SDN-HGW in future smart home networks

Changing Brains, Changing Lives: Researching the Lived Experience of Individuals Practicing Self-Directed Neuroplasticity

    Get PDF
Neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s ability to change and adapt both structure and function in response to sensory experiences. Self-directed neuroplasticity (SDN) specifically addresses the capacity to proactively modify cerebral function through volitional control and the intentional practice of focusing attention in desired ways. In other words, the mind can consciously change the brain. Self-directed neuroplasticity (SDN) approaches are successfully used to treat a range of challenges such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, and emotional response regulation. However, no research describes the lived experiences of individuals practicing SDN across multiple modalities. Using semi-structured, in-depth interviews, this phenomenological inquiry describes the lived experiences of 13 participants practicing SDN. In addition to identifying SDN uses and multifaceted aspects to SDN practices outside of current academic literature, this study utilized thematic analysis to uncover four themes: Seeking, Empowerment, Growth in Relationships, and Transformation. Results offer insights into expanding SDN uses, broadening practice context, and life-changing transformation. Implications include the need to increase awareness, education, and integration of SDN within holistic health and other communities, as well as expand research regarding SDN uses, application among various populations, and longitudinal efficacy

From theory to experimental evaluation: resource management in software-defined vehicular networks

    Get PDF
Managing resources in dynamic vehicular environments is a tough task, which is becoming more challenging with the increased number of access technologies today available in connected cars (e.g., IEEE 802.11, LIE), in the variety of applications provided on the road (e.g., safety, traffic efficiency, and infotainment), in the amount of driving awareness/coordination required (e.g., local, context, and cooperative awareness), and in the level of automation toward zero-accident driving (e.g., platooning and autonomous driving). The open programmability and logically centralized control features of the software-defined networking (SDN) paradigm offer an attractive means to manage communication and networking resources in the vehicular environment and promise improved performance. In this paper, we enumerate the potentials of software-defined vehicular networks, analyze the need to rethink the traditional SDN approach from theoretical and practical standpoints when applied in this application context, and present an emulation approach based on the proposed node car architecture in Mininet-WiFi to showcase the applicability and some expected benefits of SDN in a selected use case scenario530693076FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO - FAPESP14/18482-

A study on factors that affect the level of awareness among employees in HSE Resources Sdn. Bhd. for their future personal financial planning / Nurhidayah Mohd Ariff and Nur Asyikin Md. Jalil

Personal finance is the application of the principles of finance to the monetary decisions of an individual or family unit. It addresses the ways in which individuals or families obtain, budget, save, and spend monetary resources over time, taking into account various financial risks and future life events. Components of personal finance might include savings accounts, credit cards and consumer loans, retirement planning, investments and insurance policies and income tax management. The main purpose of this study is to study the factors that affect the level of awareness among employees in HSE Resources Sdn. Bhd. for their future personal financial planning. This study suggests that the factors that influence the level of emplyee’s awareness are family structure, socioeconomics, financial literacy and peer influence. The study follows exploratory research as medium to study the factors that affect the level of awareness among employees on their future personal financial planning. A set of questionnaires with 6 sections and 100 questionnaires were distributed to the employees in HSE Resources Sdn Bhd. Reliability test, frequency test, descriptive analysis, correlation analysisi and regression has been chosen as the method to find the result. The findings indicate that the financial literacy is the most factors that affect the level of awareness among employees in HSE Resources Sdn Bhd for their future personal financial planning than family structure, socioeconomics and peer influence

The Application of The Pancasila Profile in The Skill Aspect at SDN Tayem East 3

This study aims to analyze the application of the Pancasila profile in the aspect of skills at SDN Tayem Timur 3. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were school principals, teachers, and students of grades V and VI. The results of the study show that the application of the Pancasila profile in the skills aspect at SDN Tayem Timur 3 is quite good, as can be seen from the development of student’s skills in various aspects such as critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. In addition, the application of the Pancasila profile also helps increase student awareness of Pancasila values as a guide in everyday life. However, more efforts are still needed to improve the quality of the application of the Pancasila profile in the skills aspect, such as by providing training and guidance to teachers and students

Sosialisasi Pembuatan Linktree sebagai Media Pembelajaran Alternatif Masa Pandemi Covid 19 pada Guru-Guru SDN 18 Galung Lombok Polewali Mandar

The covid-19 pandemic has changed the learning paradigm from face-to-face to online. The learning that takes place online needs the application of creative learning media, such as Linktree. Linktree is a tool that can be used to unite lesson plans, materials, quizzes, and other learning tools in the from of links. Learning media such as linktree are urgently needed at SDN 018 Galung Lombok, Polewali Mandar as one of the schools that affected by the pandemic. The devotion method is carried out by providing socialization related to the use of the Linktree application which is an alternative media in learning during the pandemic. The result of this devotion is that SDN 018 Galung Lombok teachers have an awareness of the importance of using learning media and gain knowledge about Linktree learning media

The application of literacy in elementary schools is very important for the continuity of the learning process and in order to shape student character. Low awareness of literacy is a problem in the application and development of student character. The purpose of this study was to find out how to implement character values based on the profiles of Pancasila students through the literacy culture at SDN 1 Brantaksekarjati. The method used is narrative-qualitative. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Brantaksekarjati in November 2022 with research subjects of class IV students, taking into account the criteria of the students' habits in the learning process and the homeroom teacher using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and data retrieval. The validity of the data in the study was tested using a credibility test with method triangulation and source triangulation. The results showed that students had fulfilled 4 of the 6 indicators in applying the Pancasila student profile through literacy activities. Although the implementation of literacy activities in schools appears to be going well, individual student literacy awareness remains relatively low
