    Get PDF
The growing percentage of fully online classes has highlighted the necessity to explore Computer-Mediated Communication Artificial Intelligence (CMC AI) in English language class. This study aimed to investigate students’ achievement and perceptions in English grammar class. It used a mix-method approach. The participants of the study were the undergraduate students of the English Education Department. The result of the pre-test mean score was 69.07, while the post-test mean score was 80.26. Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) in Test Statistics of Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test shows 0.000, which is lower than 0.05. Therefore, there was a significant improvement difference of the scores of the students before and after being taught by using CMC AI. The interview and questionnaire data showed students' overall positive perceptions toward the use of CMC AI within the English grammar class. The students mentioned their positive perceptions that CMC AI can improve autonomous and fun learning. It can also be used anytime and anywhere as a private tutor and partner, challenging and enhancing resources in learning English language

Learning and computing breakthroughs among students are beginning to converge due to the rapid growth of digital technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made an impact on the way we teach English at college level. It has an enormous potential of providing digitalized and completely personalized learning to each English language teacher. This quantitative quasi-experimental research offers a strategy for incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English language teaching at college level. The participants consisted of 100 bachelor level students studying at a constituent college of Tribhuvan University, Nepal. The participants were selected using simple random sampling and divided into two groups: the study group and the control group. The researcher employed questionnaire and test as the instruments to collect the data. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 2.0 which is a tool for analyzing quantitatively challenging data. The findings were presented descriptively and the researcher assessed the model's criteria, designed a comparison test, and conducted a survey questionnaire to check the reliability and effectiveness of the prediction. The evidence shows that Enhanced Whale Hyper-Tuned Artificial Neural Network (EWH-ANN) EWH-ANN can be employed to optimize English instruction at college level in general and verbal improvement in particular. It can make English teaching more efficient and customized to fulfil individual students' necessities. The study concluded that The Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) can be used to tune the hyper-parameters of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to improve the accuracy of the operation

    Get PDF
Artificial intelligence (AI) is exerting unprecedented pressure on the global higher educational landscape in transforming recruitment processes, subverting traditional pedagogy, and creating new research and institutional opportunities. These technologies require contextual and global ethical analysis so that they may be developed and deployed in higher education in just and responsible ways. To-date, these efforts have been largely focused on small parts of the educational environments leaving most of the world out of an essential contribution. This volume acts as a corrective to this and contributes to the building of competencies in ethics education and to broader, global debates about how AI will transform various facets of our lives, not the least of which is higher education

Decision-making and problem-solving methods in automation technology

    Get PDF
The state of the art in the automation of decision making and problem solving is reviewed. The information upon which the report is based was derived from literature searches, visits to university and government laboratories performing basic research in the area, and a 1980 Langley Research Center sponsored conferences on the subject. It is the contention of the authors that the technology in this area is being generated by research primarily in the three disciplines of Artificial Intelligence, Control Theory, and Operations Research. Under the assumption that the state of the art in decision making and problem solving is reflected in the problems being solved, specific problems and methods of their solution are often discussed to elucidate particular aspects of the subject. Synopses of the following major topic areas comprise most of the report: (1) detection and recognition; (2) planning; and scheduling; (3) learning; (4) theorem proving; (5) distributed systems; (6) knowledge bases; (7) search; (8) heuristics; and (9) evolutionary programming

    Get PDF
Our world continues to become increasingly connected. The use of technology has become a must in this modern era to live accordingly. The requirement to use technology also widens the world of teaching, especially in teaching English. Nowadays, all generations of educators, whether young or old generations are expected to utilize technologies in their respective classrooms in an attempt to facilitate students with the newest atmosphere of the teaching and learning process. Speaking of those, chatbots are one of the technologies that can be engaged in English language teaching and learning. Relying on the huge benefit and easiness of implementation, the use of chatbots could be the leading technology for teachers to promote modern language learning. In this literature review-based research paper, the writers would like to encourage the use of chatbots in English language teaching as a medium for teachers to promote modern language learning

    Get PDF
In the background of digital education, the intelligent capabilities of ChatGPT-based technology in teaching have emerged as a powerful tool for facilitating teachers’ preparation for lesson, improving students’ learning motivation and effectiveness, and promoting the development of intelligent curriculum. This study put forward a novel model of ChatGPT-based English teaching grounded in the “Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture” proposed by Galal Walker. From the three aspects of teaching design, application scenarios, and learning effect evaluation, this model explores the application of ChatGPT in the four fundamental language domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with the objective of enhancing students’ language proficiency and cultural sensitivity, while also fostering their digital learning capabilities. To uphold academic integrity and ethical use of ChatGPT in English teaching, a C++-based ChatGPT application has been designed and tailored to the specific needs of English language learners. The school-based intelligent courses based on ChatGPT are available for students to carry out more diverse and effective English learning, promoting the rational use of ChatGPT in learning
