Source at https://circulareconomy.europa.eu/platform/en/news-and-events/all-events/ispim-innovation-conference-2023.Majority of the start-ups fail in the early stage of the development due to lack of validation. This paper focuses on high-tech start-ups and investigates the use of data and/or big data at this stage. The study found that early-stage start-ups fail because they create products or services not needed in the market. Early validation through an agile approach can help these young companies to manoeuver through a turbulent external environment. The results show that big data or data can act as a support at this stage. However, there are various barriers that need to be addressed for successful data adoption. The paper proposes an early validation user guide (EVU) to overcome these barriers and make data adoption easier. The EVU can provide start-ups the tools to use big data or data as a support for early validation based on the market context of the start-ups

One of the most critical aspects of Software Development Process is the Requirements Engineering process and defining the correct and understandable requirements in Agile methodology. Hence, Requirements Engineering in agile directly effect the overall project success. This paper demonstrates a research study about the usage of Agile methods in the set of industrial companies located in Russia. The survey gives insights about different aspects of the method: communication challenges and issues arising during the Software Requirements Engineering phase in particular the challenges in the communication with the customers. To investigate these issues the paper presents an analysis of the state of the art done with the help of the research survey. The results of the interview sessions are summarized and the set of suggestions to overcome the challenges are proposed. 30 representatives from 20 different companies who are mainly Product owners and Product Managers participated in the surve y. As the results indicate, the communication is always a key challenge for the companies. The analysis of particular qualities of the communication field in the context of rapidly changing Software Development environment helped to define the outcomes related to the customer communicatio

IT Governance and Organizational Agility: A Study based on Platform Organizing Logic Perspectives

Managing IS changes is critical for IT governance decisions. Thus, firms should be concerned IT agility in order to respond to uncertain changes in a dynamic environment. In this case study, we analyze the course of IT governance decisions to understand how the case company uses IT to enable organizational agility. Further, we adopt platform organizing logic perspectives to identify factors associated with this issue. These factors are classified as collaboration requirements and cohesion forces. We also identify four key principles used by the case company for making their IT governance decisions to sustain their IT agility: balance between collaboration requirements and cohesion forces, autonomy of IS integration and scalability, simplification of business processes by digitized process capital, and entrepreneurial alertness for absorbing new IT capabilities. These findings illustrate how to apply platform organizing logic to IT governance decisions and also respond to the call for research in reframing the role of IT in shaping organizational agility through digital options

Agile: From Software to Mission System

The Resource Prospector (RP) is an in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) technology demonstration mission, designed to search for volatiles at the Lunar South Pole. This is NASA's first near real time tele-operated rover on the Moon. The primary objective is to search for volatiles at one of the Lunar Poles. The combination of short mission duration, a solar powered rover, and the requirement to explore shadowed regions makes for an operationally challenging mission. To maximize efficiency and flexibility in Mission System design and thus to improve the performance and reliability of the resulting Mission System, we are tailoring Agile principles that we have used effectively in ground data system software development and applying those principles to the design of elements of the mission operations system

Raising Awareness In Distributed Agile Development - A Case Study Perspective

Raising and maintaining awareness in distributed agile cross-cultural teams is a challenging process, especially as the tenets of agile methods rely heavily on physical proximity, face-to-face communication, coordination and close collaboration. This paper reports on preliminary findings on how a distributed agile team within the financial sector, engages in raising awareness to carry out collaborative activities to accomplish project tasks. We have adapted the use of 3C Collaboration model as an evaluative mechanism to examine how the different dimensions (communication, coordination and cooperation) of the model stimulate awareness within a distributed agile team. The insights gained from the case study, suggest there is a constant interplay between the offshore and onshore teams to try and raise and maintain awareness in order to achieve project goal
