    Vector control for a bearingless induction motor based on nonsingular terminal sliding mode structure

    © 2017 IEEE. To improve the performance of the bearingless induction motor (BIM) under disturbances, a nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode control (NFTSMC) strategy is proposed. The sliding mode surface is designed as a combination of linear sliding mode and nonsingular terminal sliding mode. Besides, considering the power function of the state variables, which make the approaching speed correlate with the state variables, so as to improve convergence performance of the linear sliding mode and solve the singularity of terminal sliding mode. Meanwhile, current signal and radial force are extracted by the electromagnetic torque and the equation of levitation force. Therefore, the convergence speed of system can be accelerated during the whole process, which contributes to chattering-free operating. The simulation and experiment results indicate that the proposed method can not only track the given value of the speed and radial displacement quickly, but also improve the operation quality and enhance the system robustness

    Sliding Mode Control for Bearingless Induction Motor Based on a Novel Load Torque Observer

    For the problem of low control performance of Bearingless Induction Motor (BIM) control system in the presence of large load disturbance, a novel load torque sliding mode observer is proposed on the basis of establishing sliding mode speed control system. The load observer chooses the speed and load torque of the BIM control system as the observed objects, uses the speed error to design the integral sliding mode surface, and adds the low-pass filter to reduce the torque observation error. Meanwhile, the output of the load torque is used as the feedforward compensation for the control system, which can provide the required current for load changes and reduce the adverse influence of disturbance on system performance. Besides, considering that the load changes lead to the varying rotational inertia, the integral identification method is adopted to identify the rotational inertia of BIM, and the rotational inertia can be updated to the load observer in real time. The simulation and experiment results all show that the proposed method can track load torque accurately, improve the ability to resist disturbances, and ameliorate the operation quality of BIM control system. The chattering of sliding mode also is suppressed effectively

    New reaching law control for permanent magnet synchronous motor with extended disturbance observer

    In order to improve the anti-disturbance performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo system, a sliding-mode control strategy using a new reaching law (NRL) is proposed. The NRL incorporates power term and switching gain term of the system state variables into the conventional exponential reaching law (CERL), which can effectively suppress the sliding-mode chattering and increase the convergence rate of system state reaching sliding-mode surface. Based on this new reaching law, a sliding-mode speed controller (SMSC) of PMSM is designed. At the same time, to solve the chattering problem caused by the large sliding-mode switching gain, an anti-disturbance sliding-mode speed controller method with an extended sliding-mode disturbance observer (ESMDO), called SMSC+ESMDO method, is developed. The sliding-mode disturbance observer is designed to accurately estimate the motor speed and external load disturbances, and the disturbance estimator is used as a feed-forward to compensate the sliding-mode speed controller (SMSC) to improve the system robustness and reduce the system chattering. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed compound sliding-mode control strategy can effectively improve the dynamic performance and robustness of the system compared with the PI controller

    An Adaptive Nonlinear Control for Gyro Stabilized Platform Based on Neural Networks and Disturbance Observer

    In order to improve the tracking performance of gyro stabilized platform with disturbances and uncertainties, an adaptive nonlinear control based on neural networks and reduced-order disturbance observer for disturbance compensation is developed. First the reduced-order disturbance observer estimates the disturbance directly. The error of the estimated disturbance caused by parameter variation and measurement noise is then approximated by neural networks. The phase compensation is also introduced to the proposed control law for the desired sinusoidal tracking. The stability of the proposed scheme is analyzed by the Lyapunov criterion. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed control approach

    Speed sensorless nonlinear adaptive control of induction motor using combined speed and perturbation observer

    High performance induction motors (IM) require a robust and reliable speed controller to maintain the speed tracking performance under various uncertainties and disturbances. This paper presents a sensorless speed controller for IM based on speed and perturbation estimation and compensation. By defining a lumped perturbation term to include all unmodeled nonlinear dynamics and external disturbances, two state and perturbation observers are designed with combining the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based speed observer to estimate the flux and speed states and the flux- and speed-loop related lumped perturbation terms. The estimated flux, speed and perturbation terms are used to design an output feedback, speed sensorless nonlinear adaptive controller (SSNAC) for IM. The stability of the closed-loop system is addressed in Lyapunov theory. Effectiveness of the SSNAC is verified via simulation and experiment tests. Comparing with the standard vector control plus MRAS speed observer (VC-MRAS), the proposed SSNAC reduces the speed tracking error by 20% to 30% on average under model uncertainties and unknown load disturbance due to the estimation and compensation of perturbation terms. The combined observer can estimate the real rotor speed under speed varying and load changes and thus makes SSNAC achieve high performance robust speed drive without using speed sensors

    Synchronous control of double-containers for overhead crane

    The development and wide application of double spreaders overhead cranes have effectively improved the loading and unloading efficiency of the container terminals. However, due to the nonlinear time-varying characteristics and parameter perturbation of the lifting device of the double spreaders, the difficulty of synchronous and coordinated control of the double spreader overhead crane is increased. In order to solve the problem of synchronous control of double spreaders overhead cranes, this work establishes the mathematical model of the double spreaders overhead crane and proposes two main methods. The controller based on the fuzzy sliding mode method is established. Fuzzy logic control can effective estimate the parameters of the system, reduce the chattering of sliding mode control, and improve the performance of its control. Mean deviation coupling synchronization control combined with sliding mode control can effectively control the speed error between the two spreaders, so that they can keep working synchronously. The other controller is established which use fast non-singular terminal sliding mode control to ensure that the system can converge in a finite time. The combination of terminal sliding mode control and super twisting algorithm can enhance the stability of the system.O desenvolvimento e a vasta aplicação de pontes rolantes de duplo espalhamento tem melhorado a eficiência de carga e descarga dos terminais de contentores. Com o objetivo de resolver o problema do controlo síncrono das pontes rolantes de duplo espalhamento, este projeto usa o modelo matemático do guindaste de dupla propagação e propõe dois métodos de resolução. O controlo baseado no método do modo deslizante difuso. O controlo lógico difuso pode estimar eficazmente os parâmetros do sistema, reduzir a vibração do controlo do modo deslizante e melhorar o seu desempenho. O control de sincronização do acoplamento do desvio médio, combinado com o control do modo deslizante que pode controlar eficazmente o erro de velocidade entre os dois espalhadores, para que o seu trabalho possa continuar de forma síncrona. O outro controlador usa um controlo rápido e não singular do modo de deslizamento do terminal para garantir que o sistema possa convergir num tempo limitado. A combinação do control no modo deslizante do terminal e do algoritmo de super rotação pode melhorar a estabilidade do sistema
