    Get PDF
Considering the information system medical images are the most sensitive and critical types of data. Transferring medical images over the internet requires the use of authentication algorithms that are resistant to attacks. Another aspect is confidentiality for secure storage and transfer of medical images. The proposed study presents an embedding technique to improve the security of medical images. As a part of preprocessing that involves removing the high-frequency components, Gaussian filters are used. To get LL band features CDF9/7 wavelet is employed. In a similar way, for the cover image, the LL band features are obtained. In order to get the 1st level of encryption the technique of alpha blending is used. It combines the LL band features of the secret image and cover images whereas LH, HL, and HH bands are applied to Inverse CDF 9/7. The resulting encrypted image along with the key obtained through LH, HL, and HH bands is transferred. The produced key adds an extra layer of protection, and similarly, the receiver does the reverse action to acquire the original secret image. The PSNR acquired from the suggested technique is compared to PSNR obtained from existing techniques to validate the results. Performance is quantified in terms of PSNR. A Spartan 6 FPGA board is used to synthesize the complete architecture in order to compare hardware consumption

Invariant scattering transform introduces new area of research that merges the signal processing with deep learning for computer vision. Nowadays, Deep Learning algorithms are able to solve a variety of problems in medical sector. Medical images are used to detect diseases brain cancer or tumor, Alzheimer's disease, breast cancer, Parkinson's disease and many others. During pandemic back in 2020, machine learning and deep learning has played a critical role to detect COVID-19 which included mutation analysis, prediction, diagnosis and decision making. Medical images like X-ray, MRI known as magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans are used for detecting diseases. There is another method in deep learning for medical imaging which is scattering transform. It builds useful signal representation for image classification. It is a wavelet technique; which is impactful for medical image classification problems. This research article discusses scattering transform as the efficient system for medical image analysis where it's figured by scattering the signal information implemented in a deep convolutional network. A step by step case study is manifested at this research work.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures and 1 tabl

    Get PDF
In the field of digital watermarking, digital image watermarking for copyright protection has attracted a lot of attention in the research community. Digital watermarking contains varies techniques for protecting the digital content. Among all those techniques,Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) provides higher image imperceptibility and robustness. Over the years, researchers have been designing watermarking techniques with robustness in mind, in order for the watermark to be resistant against any image processing techniques. Furthermore, the requirements of a good watermarking technique includes a tradeoff between robustness, image quality (imperceptibility) and capacity. In this paper, we have done an extensive literature review for the existing DWT techniques and those combined with other techniques such as Neural Networks. In addition to that, we have discuss the contribution of Neural Networks in copyright protection. Finally we reached our goal in which we identified the research gaps existed in the current watermarking schemes. So that, it will be easily to obtain an optimal techniques to make the watermark object robust to attacks while maintaining the imperceptibility to enhance the copyright protection

On the classification of arrhythmia using supplementary features from Tetrolet transforms

    Get PDF
Heart diseases had been molded as potential threats to human lives, especially to elderly people in recent days due to the dynamically varying food habits among the people. However, these diseases could be easily caught by proper analysis of Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals acquired from individuals. This paper proposes a better method to detect and classify the arrhythmia using 15 features which include 4 R-R interval features, 3 statistical and 6 chaotic features estimated from ECG signals. Additionally, Entropy and Energy features had been gained after converting one dimensional ECG signals to two dimensional data and applied Tetrolet transforms on that.  Total numbers of 15 features had been utilized to classify the heart beats from the benchmark MIT-Arrhythmia database using Support Vector Machines (SVM). The classification performance was analyzed under various kernel functions and different Tetrolet decomposition levels. It is found that Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel could perform better than linear and polynomial kernels. This research attempt yielded an accuracy of 99.35 % against the existing works. Moreover, addition of two more features had introduced a negligible overhead of time. Hence, this method is better suitable to detect and classify the Arrhythmia in both online and offline

Optimal analog wavelet bases construction using hybrid optimization algorithm

    Get PDF
An approach for the construction of optimal analog wavelet bases is presented. First, the definition of an analog wavelet is given. Based on the definition and the least-squares error criterion, a general framework for designing optimal analog wavelet bases is established, which is one of difficult nonlinear constrained optimization problems. Then, to solve this problem, a hybrid algorithm by combining chaotic map particle swarm optimization (CPSO) with local sequential quadratic programming (SQP) is proposed. CPSO is an improved PSO in which the saw tooth chaotic map is used to raise its global search ability. CPSO is a global optimizer to search the estimates of the global solution, while the SQP is employed for the local search and refining the estimates. Benefiting from good global search ability of CPSO and powerful local search ability of SQP, a high-precision global optimum in this problem can be gained. Finally, a series of optimal analog wavelet bases are constructed using the hybrid algorithm. The proposed method is tested for various wavelet bases and the improved performance is compared with previous works.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

Quantitative Multidimensional Stress Assessment from Facial Videos

    Get PDF
Stress has a significant impact on the physical and mental health of an individual and is a growing concern for society, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Facial video-based stress evaluation from non-invasive cameras has proven to be a significantly more efficient method to evaluate stress in comparison to approaches that use questionnaires or wearable sensors. Plenty of classification models have been built for stress detection. However, most do not consider individual differences. Also, the results for such models are limited by a uni-dimensional definition of stress levels lacking a comprehensive quantitative definition of stress. The dissertation focuses on building a framework that utilizes the multilevel video frame representations from deep learning and the remote photoplethysmography signals extracted from the facial videos for stress assessment. The fusion model takes the inputs of a baseline video and a target video of the subject. The physiological features such as heart rate and heart rate variability are used with the initial stress scores generated from deep learning are used to predict the stress scores in cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, and self-confidence. To generate stress scores with better accuracy, the signal extraction method is improved by introducing the CWT-SNR method that uses the signal-to-noise ratio to assist the adaptive bandpass filtering in the post-processing of the signals. A study on phase space reconstruction features is performed and the results show the potential for additional accuracy improvement for the heart rate variability detection. To select the best deep learning architecture, multiple deep learning architectures are tested to build the deep learning model. Support Vector Regression is used to generate the output stress score results. Testing with the data from the UBFC-Phys dataset, the fusion model shows a strong correlation between ground truth and the predicted results
