Optimal Test Plan of Step Stress Partially Accelerated Life Testing for Alpha Power Inverse Weibull Distribution under Adaptive Progressive Hybrid Censored Data and Different Loss Functions

    Get PDF
Accelerated life tests are used to explore the lifetime of extremely reliable items by subjecting them to elevated stress levels from stressors to cause early failures, such as temperature, voltage, pressure, and so on. The alpha power inverse Weibull (APIW) distribution is of great significance and practical applications due to its appealing characteristics, such as its flexibilities in the probability density function and the hazard rate function. We analyze the step stress partially accelerated life testing model with samples from the APIW distribution under adaptive type II progressively hybrid censoring. We first obtain the maximum likelihood estimates and two types of approximate confidence intervals of the distributional parameters and then derive Bayes estimates of the unknownparameters under different loss functions. Furthermore, we analyze three probable optimum test techniques for identifying the best censoring under different optimality criteria methods. We conduct simulation studies to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed methodology. Finally, we provide a real data example to further demonstrate the proposed technique

On estimating parameters of a progressively censored lognormal distribution

[[abstract]]We consider the problem of making statistical inference on unknown parameters of a lognormal distribution under the assumption that samples are progressively censored. The maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) are obtained by using the expectation-maximization algorithm. The observed and expected Fisher information matrices are provided as well. Approximate MLEs of unknown parameters are also obtained. Bayes and generalized estimates are derived under squared error loss function. We compute these estimates using Lindley's method as well as importance sampling method. Highest posterior density interval and asymptotic interval estimates are constructed for unknown parameters. A simulation study is conducted to compare proposed estimates. Further, a data set is analysed for illustrative purposes. Finally, optimal progressive censoring plans are discussed under different optimality criteria and results are presented.[[notice]]補正完畢[[journaltype]]國外[[incitationindex]]SCI[[ispeerreviewed]]Y[[booktype]]電子版[[countrycodes]]GB

Goodness-of-fit testing based on Gini Index of spacings for progressively Type-II censored data

    Get PDF
In this article, we propose two new scale invariant test statistics when the available data are subject to progressively Type-II censoring. The proposed tests are based on Gini index of spacings. It is observed thorough extensive Monte Carlo simulations that the proposed tests are quite powerful in compare to similar existing goodness-of-fit tests studied by Balakrishnan et al. and Wang. We also illustrate the method proposed here using a real data from reliability literature

On estimating the reliability in a multicomponent system based on progressively-censored data from Chen distribution

    Get PDF
This research deals with classical, Bayesian, and generalized estimation of stress-strength reliability parameter, Rs;k = Pr(at least s of (X1;X2; :::;Xk) exceed Y) = Pr(Xks+1:k \u3eY) of an s-out-of-k : G multicomponent system, based on progressively type-II right-censored samples with random removals when stress and strength are two independent Chen random variables. Under squared-error and LINEX loss functions, Bayes estimates are developed by using Lindley’s approximation and Markov Chain Monte Carlo method. Generalized estimates are developed using generalized variable method while classical estimates - the maximum likelihood estimators, their asymptotic distributions, asymptotic confidence intervals, bootstrap-based confidence intervals - are also developed. A simulation study and a real-world data analysis are provided to illustrate the proposed procedures. The size of the test, adjusted and unadjusted power of the test, coverage probability and expected lengths of the confidence intervals, and biases of the estimators are also computed, compared and contrasted

Statistical inferences of Rs;k = Pr(Xk-s+1:k \u3e Y ) for general class of exponentiated inverted exponential distribution with progressively type-II censored samples with uniformly distributed random removal

The problem of statistical inference of the reliability parameter Pr(Xk-s+1:k \u3e Y ) of an s-out-of-k : G system with strength components X1,X2,…,Xk subjected to a common stress Y when X and Y are independent two-parameter general class of exponentiated inverted exponential (GCEIE) progressively type-II right censored data with uniformly random removal random variables, are discussed. We use p-value as a basis for hypothesis testing. There are no exact or approximate inferential procedures for reliability of a multicomponent stress-strength model from the GCEIE based on the progressively type-II right censored data with random or fixed removals available in the literature. Simulation studies and real-world data analyses are given to illustrate the proposed procedures. The size of the test, adjusted and unadjusted power of the test, coverage probability and expected confidence lengths of the confidence interval, and biases of the estimator are also discussed

On some inferential problems with recurrent event models

    Get PDF
Recurrent events (RE) occur in many disciplines, such as biomedical, engineering, actuarial science, sociology, economy to name a few. It is then important to develop dynamic models for their modeling and analysis. Of interest with data collected in a RE monitoring are inferential problems pertaining to the distribution function F of the time between occurrences, or that of the distribution function G of the monitoring window, and their functionals such as quantiles, mean. These problems include, but not limited to: estimating F parametrically or nonparametrically; goodness of fit tests on an hypothesized family of distributions; efficient of tests; regression-type models, or validation of models that arise in the modeling and analysis of RE. This dissertation work focuses on several inferential problems of significant importance with these types of data. The first one we dealt with is the problem of informative monitoring. Informative monitoring occurs when G contains information about F, and the information is accounted for in the inferential process through a Lehman-type model, 1 - G= (1 -F )ß, so called generalized Koziol-Green model in the literature. We propose a class of inferential procedures for validating the model. The research work proceeds with the development of a flexible, random cells based chi-square goodness of fit test for an hypothesized family of distributions with unknown parameter. The cells are random in the sense that they are cut free, are function of the data, and are not predetermined in advance as is done in standard chi-square type tests. A minimum chi-square estimator is used to construct the test statistic whose power is assessed against a sequence of Pitman-like alternatives. The last problem we considered is that of an efficiency, optimality, and comparison of various statistical tests on RE that are derived in this work and existed in the literature. The efficiency and optimality are obtained by extending the theory of Bahadur and Wieand to RE. Asymptotic properties of the different estimators and or statistics are presented via empirical processes tools. Small sample results using intensive simulation study of the various procedures are presented, and these show good approximation of the truth. Real recurrent event data from the engineering and biomedical studies are utilized to illustrate the various methods --Abstract, page iv
