    Migration of relational databases to NoSQL - methods of analysis

    The amount of data to store, organize and manage in any organization, is very high and increases every day, fact well-known by companies as Facebook, Google or SAS. With this current growth rate, technologies must adapt to the amount of disposable data, and a new approach to information processing is required. Big Data technologies are more focused, and this is a reason for a greater spread of NoSQL database models. The purpose of this article is to validate the existing (and already used) migration methods and to adapt them, to understand the most efficient method to migrate a relational database to a NoSQL database. We will show the methodology used and what were the steps followed for the implementation, as well as the configuration of the environment used during the tests. Results show that in this migration process, the most efficient method is what is referred to as automatic offline migration. However, it requires a window of unavailability greater than the method of online migration, which in turn requires more resources from the operating system to migrate. Therefore, the most efficient method to migrate a database will depend on the application availability, and the computational resources available for it.     A Value-Based Approach for Reasoning with Goal Models

    Goal models are used to represent stakeholders’ intentions regarding the system to be developed and the alternative means to achieve those intentions. Goal-oriented analysis techniques have been proposed to help analysts reason when employing goal models. These techniques can be used to identify conflicts among goals, to choose between alternatives or to check the satisfiability of the model. Unfortunately, most of these techniques consider that stakeholders their intentions are equally important. This paper presents a value-based approach that and allows stakeholders to assign a relative importance to the elements in a goal model. It then propagates that importance by means of their relationships (dependencies, contributions and decompositions) in order to determine which elements are more valuable. Fisher’s weighted distribution and multi-criteria decision analysis techniques are used to deal with the propagation of the importance among the goals. The contribution is the alignment of information system with stakeholders and organizational goals

    El presente artículo trata de una estela de alabastro con decoración antropomorfa descubierta en las excavaciones de (Syria). Ya que en el contexto del Bronce Antiguo del Próximo Oriente contamos con pocas piezas parecidas, subrayamos sus posibles paralelos en el Mediterráneo Occidental. Así encontramos en la Península Ibérica todos los elementos presentes en la estela de Mari. Entre los artefactos tratados destacamos en primer lugar las placas de pizarra y la cerámica simbólica con su simbología de ojos. Esto se engloba en la cuestión de las relaciones del Calcolítico de la Península Ibérica con Oriente.The present articles treats an alabaster stele with anthropomorphic decoraction discovered in the excavations of Mari (Syria)1. As there are only a few comparable objects in its Near Eastern Early Bronze Age context, special attention is drawn to the possible parallels in the Western Mediterranean. In fact it is on the Iberian Peninsula were all elements and symbols united on the Mari stele occur. Among the artefact groups in question we mention especially the slate slab idols and the so called Symbolkeramik, all with oculus symbolism. This implies the question of the eastern relations of Iberian Chalcolithic during the third millennium

    Diesel ignition delay and lift-off length through different methodologies using a multi-hole injector

    In this paper, lift-off length has been measured via both broadband luminosity and OH chemiluminescence. In addition, ignition delay has also been measured via broadband chemiluminescence and Schlieren imaging. A 3 orifice injector from the Engine Combustion Network (ECN) set, referred to as Spray B, and a single component fuel (n-dodecane) was used. Experiments were carried out in a constant flow and pressure facility, that allowed to reproduce engine-like thermodynamic conditions, and enabled the study to be performed over a wide range of test conditions with a very high repetition rate. Data obtained was also compared with results from a single orifice injector also from the Engine Combustion Network, with analog orifice characteristics (90 lm outlet diameter and convergent shape) and technology as the injector used. Results showed that there is good correlation between the ignition delay measured through both methodologies, that oxygen concentration and injection pressure plays a minor role in the ignition delay, being ambient temperature and density the parameters with the highest influence. Lift-off length measurements showed significant differences between methodologies. Minor deviation was observed between injectors with different nozzle geometry (seat inclination angle), due to temperature variations along the chamber, highlighting the importance of temperature distribution along combustion vessels. Empirical correlations for lift-off and ignition delay were calculated, underlining the effect of the conditions on the parameters studied. Coefficients of the correlations were compared with results for the single orifice injector, this showed that variations of test conditions have the same impact on ignition delay and lift-off length regardless the nozzle orifice configuration.This work was sponsored by "Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad" of the Spanish Government in the frame of the Project "Comprension de la influencia de combustibles no convencionales en el proceso de injeccion y combustion tipo Diesel", Reference TRA2012-36932.     Dealing with goal models complexity using topological metrics and algorithms

    The inherent complexity of business goal-models is a challenge for organizations that has to analyze and maintaining them. Several approaches are developed to reduce the complexity into manageable limits, either by providing support to the modularization or designing metrics to monitor the complexity levels. These approaches are designed to identify an unusual complexity comparing it among models. In the present work, we expose two approaches based on structural characteristics of goal-model, which do not require these comparisons.     A browser-based modeling tool for studying the learning of conceptual modeling based on a multi-modal data collection approach

    How do we learn conceptual modeling? What are common learning difficulties? Which tool support assists learners in what respect? The paper at hand reports on the design and development of a browser-based modeling tool integrated with a learning observatory in support of learning conceptual modeling and of studying the learning of conceptual modeling. Implementing a multimodal data collection approach, the learning observatory tracks learner-tool interactions, records verbal data from learners and surveys learners about their learning processes to provide for analyses at the individual and aggregate learner levels in the quest for identifying patterns of learning processes, learning barriers and difficulties. We report on the current state of prototype development, discuss its software architecture and outline future development steps

    Specifying Value in GRL for Guiding BPMN Activities Prioritization

    In a value-based requirements engineering approach, the stakeholders’ value propositions must be considered ahead in order to prioritize which requirements will be developed first to drive the software development activities. Early requirements approaches like the Goal- Oriented Requirements Language (GRL) focuses on modeling goals, tasks, contributions, and dependencies in order to satisfy the stakeholders’ needs, but do not provide a mechanism to specify value according to stakeholders’ value propositions. Moreover, in software development, after specifying value propositions, there is a need to align goal elements into business process elements in order to prioritize which business process activity is going to be developed next. Thus, we propose a new approach (value@GRL) to improve GRL and prioritize Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) activities. Value@GRL provides guidelines for specifying value in GRL models according to the stakeholders’ needs and prioritization mechanisms to define BPMN activities\u27 order in an incremental software development

    Challenges for Model-Driven Development of Strategically Aligned Information Systems

    [EN] Model-Driven Development (MDD) has been proposed as an alternative to the traditional development of information systems, given its ability to integrate different stakeholders into the information system engineering process. Currently, longtime researched MDD methods and modern no-code and low-code platforms support the generation of the working code of the information system and services. However, in today's continuously changing environment, organisations need to align the information systems and services with the business structure, strategy, and processes they support. This article shows the design challenges for integrating business strategy information into a model-driven development method. We applied a set of mechanism experiments on an MDD method composed of three modelling frameworks with demonstrated semantic consistency, that covers the organisational, business process, and information system levels to identify information loss and transformation coverage issues that prevent the generation of information systems and services that are strategically aligned.
