Macaca sylvanus Linnaeus 1758 from the Middle Pleistocene of Quecchia Quarry (Brescia, Northern Italy)
During the Plio-Pleistocene the Barbary macaque, Macaca sylvanus Linnaeus, 1758 was widely distributed throughout Europe and North Africa (Szalay and Delson, 1979; Delson, 1980; Rook et al., 2001), and it became extinct in Europe during the Late Pleistocene (Elton and O’Regan, 2014). Nowadays this primate is still present in North Africa and a small population has been reintroduced at Gibraltar (Modolo et al., 2005). The taxonomy of the Plio-Pleistocene European macaques is still debated but many authors agree in considering all the fossils as belonging to the M. sylvanus lineage, while the Pleistocene endemic M. majori Azzaroli, 1946 from Sardinia (Italy) has been considered a distinct valid species (Rook and O’Higgins, 2005). The occurrence of this species is documented from Late Pliocene to Late Pleistocene sites located in Northern and Central Italy. Here we describe unpublished dentognathic remains of Macaca sylvanus from the Middle Pleistocene site of Quecchia Quarry (Botticino, Brescia, North Italy)

"Bless Thee, Jonson,Bless Thee! Thou Art Translated": versiones españolas de Volpone: 1929-1994
Unlike Shakespeare’s, Ben Jonson’s· plays have not been widely studied, translated or staged in our country. This paper attempts to trace all Spanish translations, adaptations and theatre productions of Volpone from 1929 to 1994, analyzing their relationship to the source text and to previous versions. The Study focuses on the following translations Araquisitain (1929), Jarnés ( 1929), Sánchez-Guerra and Precioso ( 1929), Bosch ( 1946), Borrás ( 1953). Tasis ( 1957). Iturri ( 1974), Sarabia (1980), and Funes (1994)
CONCLUSÃO: O estudo propiciou a continuidade do trabalho pioneiro iniciado na década de 1970, na referida Escola, no qual foram identificados os alunos formados no período de 1946 - 1979, contribuindo para o resgate histórico da memória da enfermagem.OBJECTIVES: To identify and describe the characteristics of the alumni of University of São Paulo School of Nursing from 1980 to 1981 and to contribute to the retrieval of the memory and insertion of this institution in the group of pioneer Brazilian schools of nursing. METHODS: A sociodemographic questionnaire was used to collect data among 163 alumni. RESULTS: Approximately one fourth of the alumni (23.9%) graduated in 1980 and 76.1% graduated in 1981. The alumni consisted of white females from São Paulo. CONCLUSIONS: The study contributed to the continuity of pioneer work initiated in the decade of 1970 at the University of São Paulo School of Nursing, in which researchers identified and characterized alumni who graduated from 1946 to 1979. The study's findings contribute to the retrieval of history of memory of nursing.OBJETIVOS: Identificar los egresados de la Escuela de Enfermería de la Universidad de Sao Paulo en el período de 1.980 a 1981; y, contribuir para la recuperación de la memoria de esa Institución y su inserción en el conjunto de las escuelas de enfermería consideradas pioneras en Brasil. A Conversation with Eugenio Regazzini
Eugenio Regazzini was born on August 12, 1946 in Cremona (Italy), and took
his degree in 1969 at the University "L. Bocconi" of Milano. He has held
positions at the universities of Torino, Bologna and Milano, and at the
University "L. Bocconi" as assistant professor and lecturer from 1974 to 1980,
and then professor since 1980. He is currently professor in probability and
mathematical statistics at the University of Pavia. In the periods 1989-2001
and 2006-2009 he was head of the Institute for Applications of Mathematics and
Computer Science of the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.) in Milano
and head of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pavia,
respectively. For twelve years between 1989 and 2006, he served as a member of
the Scientific Board of the Italian Mathematical Union (U.M.I.). In 2007, he
was elected Fellow of the IMS and, in 2001, Fellow of the "Istituto
Lombardo---Accademia di Scienze e Lettere." His research activity in
probability and statistics has covered a wide spectrum of topics, including
finitely additive probabilities, foundations of the Bayesian paradigm,
exchangeability and partial exchangeability, distribution of functionals of
random probability measures, stochastic integration, history of probability and
statistics. Overall, he has been one of the most authoritative developers of de
Finetti's legacy. In the last five years, he has extended his scientific
interests to probabilistic methods in mathematical physics; in particular, he
has studied the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of equations, which are of
interest for the kinetic theory of gases. The present interview was taken in
occasion of his 65th birthday.Comment: Published in at http://dx.doi.org/10.1214/11-STS362 the Statistical
