This survey paper discusses the condition of smart healthcare implementation. It discusses the current healthcare problems and how smart healthcare technologies ease the problems. Our group, Universal Village, realizes that the integration and interaction between parties in a system will maximize the effectiveness and benefit for the system. Based on this idea, this paper considers the smart city system as a whole, and talks about how smart healthcare interacts with infrastructures and functions inside and outside of the smart healthcare field. Then, it analyzes how a more powerful integrated system can be built from the smart healthcare system. In the end, several case studies are listed. Based on our analysis and the case studies, this paper then ended with the future prospects of the smart healthcare.Open access journalThis item from the UA Faculty Publications collection is made available by the University of Arizona with support from the University of Arizona Libraries. The demand for real-time, affordable, and efficient smart healthcare services is increasing exponentially due to the technological revolution and burst of population. To meet the increasing demands on this critical infrastructure, there is a need for intelligent methods to cope with the existing obstacles in this area. In this regard, edge computing technology can reduce latency and energy consumption by moving processes closer to the data sources in comparison to the traditional centralized cloud and IoT-based healthcare systems. In addition, by bringing automated insights into the smart healthcare systems, artificial intelligence (AI) provides the possibility of detecting and predicting high-risk diseases in advance, decreasing medical costs for patients, and offering efficient treatments. The objective of this article is to highlight the benefits of the adoption of edge intelligent technology, along with AI in smart healthcare systems. Moreover, a novel smart healthcare model is proposed to boost the utilization of AI and edge technology in smart healthcare systems. Additionally, the paper discusses issues and research directions arising when integrating these different technologies together.Comment: This paper has been accepted in IEEE Wireless Communication Magazin

Proposed Framework for Smart Healthcare Services

Smart healthcare is of great interest to researchers and governments due to the increasing development of new smart cities. However, there is no current standard practice to format the cloud computing infrastructure and to assist the healthcare system architect in designing a comprehensive solution for the basic services that are required by the healthcare users while taking into consideration a balanced approach towards their specific functional and non-functional needs such as openness, scalability, concurrency, interoperability and security factors. The integration of smart healthcare services with cloud computing needs a concrete framework. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the different frameworks that discuss smart healthcare services and reach to a conclusion of the common factors to arrive at a unified and smart framework

Treball desenvolupat en el marc del programa "European Project Semester".The growing population around the world and increase of seniors, as well as a demand for high quality services create new problems and challenges, especially in a healthcare sector. Patient treatment is very often a difficult and time consuming process, however, in today’s society people lack time in every aspect of their lives. Shortage of medical staff is only deepening the problem of long waiting time needed to acquire medical assistance. To fulfil the requirements of patients, governments must invest into finding innovative, efficient and yet affordable solutions that will increase efficiency of healthcare systems. The aim of this paper is to describe how smart solutions can be implemented in order to cope with challenges of the healthcare sector. The research was focused on organisational and technological problems that are present in this sector. Though there are various existing solutions to these problems, which will be presented in this report, the main part of it will be devoted to description of the proprietary system that was developed by the team named Salutem, throughout the course of European Project Semester. The solution is a distributed system consisting of two main components, a Web Application and a Mobile Application that communicate with each other. The Web Application is aimed to provide a management tool for health centre employees, as well as an online reservation system for patients. It copes with a problem of long waiting time in queues to doctor’s office by finding an optimal time of a visit for each patient registered for a given doctor. This is done with use of self-learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm that is embedded in the system. The Mobile Application is using Near Field Communication(NFC) technology to monitor patients that come for a visit, which includes gathering time data that will be used for the process of AI learning. NFC is also used to instantly provide patient data to doctors once a patient is detected in a doctor’s office. The system was created to ensure security and privacy of patients’ data. The report will conclude with a summary of the system, gained experience and possible future development of the solution.Outgoin

Biomedical Microelectromechanical Systems (BioMEMS) serve as a crucial catalyst in enhancing IoT communication security and safeguarding smart healthcare systems. Situated at the nexus of advanced technology and healthcare, BioMEMS are instrumental in pioneering personalized diagnostics, monitoring, and therapeutic applications. Nonetheless, this integration brings forth a complex array of security and privacy challenges intrinsic to IoT communications within smart healthcare ecosystems, demanding comprehensive scrutiny. In this manuscript, we embark on an extensive analysis of the intricate security terrain associated with IoT communications in the realm of BioMEMS, addressing a spectrum of vulnerabilities that spans cyber threats, data manipulation, and interception of communications. The integration of real-world case studies serves to illuminate the direct repercussions of security breaches within smart healthcare systems, highlighting the imperative to safeguard both patient safety and the integrity of medical data. We delve into a suite of security solutions, encompassing rigorous authentication processes, data encryption, designs resistant to attacks, and continuous monitoring mechanisms, all tailored to fortify BioMEMS in the face of ever-evolving threats within smart healthcare environments. Furthermore, the paper underscores the vital role of ethical and regulatory considerations, emphasizing the need to uphold patient autonomy, ensure the confidentiality of data, and maintain equitable access to healthcare in the context of IoT communication security. Looking forward, we explore the impending landscape of BioMEMS security as it intertwines with emerging technologies such as AI-driven diagnostics, quantum computing, and genomic integration, anticipating potential challenges and strategizing for the future. In doing so, this paper highlights the paramount importance of adopting an integrated approach that seamlessly blends technological innovation, ethical foresight, and collaborative ingenuity, thereby steering BioMEMS towards a secure and resilient future within smart healthcare systems, in the ambit of IoT communication security and protection
