Social media: a new way of public and political communication in digital media

Today, social media are the new way of public and political communication in digital marketing. Companies or organizations are no longer the exclusive owners of the relation of consumers with their products/services; instead, the survival of the organizations depends of the effective utilization of the social media. New web technologies have made it easy for anyone to create and distribute their own content.  A tweet can be viewed by virtually millions of people for free, and advertisers don’t have to pay publishers huge sums of money to embed their messages. More consumers are on social media than ever before, and every second a company is not engaged is a wasted opportunity [1]. Consumers trust other people to provide recommendations about products and services in a very active way and it is important to know how and why social media influence organizations. This study analyzes through a literature review the importance of public and political communication through social media and proposes a model of business for successful marketing strategies

Tracking of fatness during childhood, adolescence and young adulthood: a 7-year follow-up study in Madeira Island, Portugal

Aims: Investigating tracking of fatness from childhood to adolescence, early adolescence to young adulthood and late adolescence to young adulthood. Subjects and methods: Participants from the Madeira Growth Study were followed during an average period of 7.2 years. Height, body mass, skin-folds and circumferences were measured, nine health- and performance-related tests were administered and the Baecke questionnaire was used to assess physical activity. Skeletal maturity was estimated using the TW3 method. Results: The prevalence of overweight plus obesity ranged from 8.2–20.0% at baseline and from 20.4–40.0% at followup, in boys. Corresponding percentages for girls were 10.6– 12.0% and 13.2–18.0%. Inter-age correlations for fatness indicators ranged from 0.43–0.77. BMI, waist circumference and sum of skin-folds at 8, 12 and 16-years old were the main predictors of these variables at 15, 19 and 23-years old, respectively. Strength, muscular endurance and aerobic fitness were negatively related to body fatness. Physical activity and maturation were independently associated with adolescent (15 years) and young adult (19 years) fatness. Conclusions: Over 7.2 years, tracking was moderate-to-high for fatness. Variance was explained by fatness indicators and to a small extent by physical fitness, physical activity and maturation

Literacia ambiental: um desafio à didática e à matética

A educação ambiental tem por objetivo promover a literacia ambiental na sociedade e em cada um dos indivíduos que a compõe, tendo como propósito último a adoção de comportamentos que suportem a melhoria da sustentabilidade ambiental do Planeta. As artes de ensinar e de aprender, mais a primeira que a segunda, têm estado, por um lado, fortemente ancoradas na instituição escola, esquecendo os contextos socioculturais que a envolvem, e, por outro, no conhecimento, esquecendo a importância dos valores e comportamentos. Sendo a literacia ambiental um conceito que inclui não só a componente dos conhecimentos como também, entre outros, das atitudes e dos comportamentos, o paradigma institucionalizado não serve os propósitos da educação ambiental e muito menos o de corrigir os desequilíbrios planetários que estamos a provocar. A partir de resultados recentemente publicados pelo autor sobre a literacia ambiental em alunos da ilha da Madeira, os quais revelam uma forte influência das variáveis demográficas e dos seus contextos socioeconómicos, faz-se uma análise e reflexão sobre os novos desafios que se colocam à didática e à matética no âmbito da educação ambiental.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Influência do género, da família e dos serviços de psicologia e orientação na tomada de decisão de carreira

Neste estudo analisa-se a infl uência do género, da família e dos Serviços de Orientação Vocacional na decisão de carreira. Participaram deste estudo 1930 alunos do 10º ao 12º anos, de escolas portuguesas, respondendo ao Questionário de Difi culdades de Tomada de Decisão e a outro de recolha de dados escolares e familiares. Mais de metade apresenta indecisão vocacional. Os resultados indicam uma infl uência positiva da família na tomada de decisão, e da Orientação Vocacional na prontidão da decisão. Os rapazes consideram a orientação vocacional mais útil, apresentam maior confi ança mas menos prontidão na decisão, recorrem menos aos pais, familiares e amigos, sendo mais infl uenciáveis. As raparigas apresentam-se mais inseguras e menos informadas. A partir dos resultados, apresentam-se recomendações para as práticas de orientação vocacional

O português de Moçambique na escrita de crianças da 6ª classe na comunidade linguística de Alto Molocué (Província da Zambézia)

neste artigo focamos o interesse linguístico e cultural, mas também humano, do estudo do Português de moçambique. Partimos dos conhecimentos já existentes sobre a realidade linguística do Português de moçambique, para c h e gar m o s à aná l is e da s d i fic u l da d e s d e ap r e n d iz a g e m d o Po r t u g u ê s nu ma comunidade do alto molocué, através de pequenos textos redigidos por crianças da 6ª classe (com uma média de 12 anos) da e scola s ecundária do alto molocué, cuja língua materna é o Lomué. o bservamos a questão do contacto entre línguas, nomeadamente entre a língua materna (L1) destas crianças e o Português, língua segunda de escolarização (L2).
