A erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil.)

The Immutability of Online Course in Art Education

The signifier and signified of symbol representation in art works can generate and reflect reality. However, it can never produce the absolute truth. This paper mainly discusses the relationship between immutability with arbitrariness, sociality, and continuity in art education, both online and in outline. Overall, it is recommended that practical art teaching should be guided by artistic achievements. In addition, we clarify immutability of network teaching mode in art education, and recommend exploration of conscious, independent and self-discipline modes

Psychology is the science that studies human behavior which is applied in analyzing human personality. This journal examines the application of the psychological theories of Sigmund Freud (Id, Ego, and Superego) and Abraham Maslow (physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, self-esteem, and self-actualization) in analyzing Ellie Chu the main character of the film "The Half of It". The author uses the descriptive qualitative research method to explain Ellie Chu's character. The author obtained data from watching the film "The Half of It" which was released by Netflix in 2020 and reading the script for the film "The Half of it". Directed by Alice Wu, this film follows the journey of Ellie Chu, a talented young writer who gets entangled in a journey of finding a complex identity in her small town. This analysis aims to show how the application of Freud's and Maslow's theories provides insight into Ellie's character development and motivation throughout the film. By exploring her subconscious desires and the fulfillment of her needs, we gain a deeper understanding of her actions, decisions, and emotional journey. Understanding the psychological underpinnings of Ellie's character increases our appreciation of the film's themes of identity, love, and self-discovery. It is hoped that from this analysis the readers can also be inspired by the story of Ellie Chu who can take responsibility for truth, honesty, and sacrifice

    Destination Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a prototypical neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive degeneration of motor neurons both in the brain and spinal cord. The constantly evolving nature of ALS represents a fundamental dimension of individual differences that underlie this disorder, yet it involves multiple levels of functional entities that alternate in different directions and finally converge functionally to define ALS disease progression. ALS may start from a single entity and gradually becomes multifactorial. However, the functional convergence of these diverse entities in eventually defining ALS progression is poorly understood. Various hypotheses have been proposed without any consensus between the for-and-against schools of thought. The present review aims to capture explanatory hierarchy both in terms of hypotheses and mechanisms to provide better insights on how they functionally connect. We can then integrate them within a common functional frame of reference for a better understanding of ALS and defining future treatments and possible therapeutic strategies. Here, we provide a philosophical understanding of how early leads are crucial to understanding the endpoints in ALS, because invariably, all early symptomatic leads are underpinned by neurodegeneration at the cellular, molecular and genomic levels. Consolidation of these ideas could be applied to other neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) and guide further critical thinking to unveil their roadmap of destination ALS

Stakeholders of higher education expect a positive return for their investment. One of the measures of success for higher education is persistence; one of the measures of persistence is retention rate. One segment of higher education, community colleges, receives a significant outlay of public resources in terms of government appropriations, student financial aid, and individual investment. This study follows the framework of Ryan (2004) and Gansemer-Topf and Schuh (2006) who successfully created models using the allocation of financial resources to predict graduation and retention rates for four-year colleges. Using data from the U. S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), this study examined the relationship between the allocation of financial resources and selected institutional demographics with freshman retention for community colleges. This study found no relationship between financial allocation and selected institutional demographics with freshman retention. In addition, this study found no predictive model using financial allocation to determine freshman retention, but found a minimally effective model by adding selected institutional characteristics as predictors. Further research adding additional predictors may discover an effective predictive model for freshman retention

BIAS AND VARIABILITY IN IMAGE-BASED VOLUMETRIC YTTRIUM-90 DOSIMETRY

90Y-microsphere therapy has been widely accepted as a treatment option for both primary and metastatic liver tumors where the patients are ineligible for surgical resection and external beam radiation therapy. The prognosis of untreated patient having liver cancer is very poor with life expectancy less than a year at advance stage. Hence the ability to predict treatment efficacy right after the treatment from post-therapy imaging will help personalize treatment strategies and achieve better outcome. Such prediction can be modeled from correlation of dose and tumor response metrics. It has been shown that local dose deposition method can generate dose map from 90Y emission images with accuracy comparable to dose-point kernel and Monte Carlo simulation methods. The bias and variability of the input images remain to be the weakest link in volumetric dosimetry. The objectives of this dissertation project were to improve image-based volumetric 90Y dose quantification using current commercially available systems and to determine its limitation (bias/variability). We have developed a practical image reconstruction method for 90Y bremsstrahlung SPECT/CT (bSPECT/CT) images with CT attenuation correction and energy-window based background compensation. Although the volumetric quantitative accuracy of our bSPECT/CT images is limited by partial volume effect, the images can be used to accurately quantify the total 90Y activity delivered to the patient, which allow gross treatment delivery verification and limited outcome prediction. We have also characterized the accuracy and variability of volumetric 90Y dosimetry calculated from count-limited 90Y-PET/CT images. Knowledge of overall errors (systematic and random) in volumetric 90Y dosimetry is important to derive statistically significant dose-response model, which in turn allowing prediction of treatment outcome and personalization of treatment strategy

Scoping Job Enlargement with the Cultural Dimension of Individualism: An Industrial

Job satisfaction and sustainable job performance require managers to find the right balance between job enlargement and the division of labor in designing the optimum scope of work toward a continuum of employee engagement. This dissertation explores the cultural dimension of “Individualism” and its’ implication in this balance. If a manufacturing line is transferred from the United States (91 mean individualism score) to China (20 mean individualism score) does the scope of the work need to change to ensure that a greater population of workers is engaged and that they have work passion toward sustained performance (Hofstede, n.d.)? Does the statement of work need to increase in detail and prescriptiveness or conversely in autonomy and diversity of tasks to match the mean cultural dimension of individualism corresponding with the target culture of the workforce? This study builds on the theory of job enlargement, and considers a cultural implication of individualism in international business
