Intelligent road lighting control systems - experiences, measurements, and lighting control strategies

    Get PDF
The work starts with a brief overview of the main issues concerning road lighting control systems, e.g. the visual conditions in night time driving, the light sources used in road lighting, and the basic structure of telemanagement lighting control systems. Then the work focuses on the performance of intelligent road lighting control systems by using the examples of two installations in Finland, Ring III and VT7. The real benefits and drawbacks are discussed and financial calculations are given. The work continues with the subject of road surface luminance measurements in order to suggest ways in which the performance of intelligent road lighting control systems might be optimized. This subject is topical as there are currently several practical problems in luminance monitoring. The work also investigates the main control parameters and strategies that are applied currently and tries to find the basis of dynamically changing light levels

The final project aims to create a dramatic stage lighting control devices with Bluetooth media are more efficient than current lighting control equipment. The device is controlled by a microcontroller ATmega 16 which is connected with the EB500 Bluetooth module as a receiver and relay commands from the mobile phone as an activating stage lights. This tool is made in several stages, namely, (1) Identification of Needs, (2) Needs Analysis, (3) Design System, (4) Hardware Design, (5) Design Software, (6) Preparation and (7) Testing Tool . Drama stage lighting control device with Bluetooth is working with the media is controlled by an ATmega16 microcontroller IC with control systems that are created using the C language Programming language created using software (CodeVision AVR). Hardware that supports consist of a series of power supply, EB500 Bluetooth module as a data receiver, IC ULN3803 as relay driver, relay for activating the lights and as a processor ATmega16 microcontroller. Mobile as a controller using the brand Sony Ericsson K608i with the type of Java software applications Avic B Controller. Having performed experiments and analyzed it can be seen that the hardware has been successfully fabricated using minimum system ATmega16 microcontroller combined with other supporting instruments. The software has been successfully designed using the C programming language using CodeVision AVR decompile. The performance of this instrument as a whole has been in accordance with a predetermined function, which is well able to control the stage and lighting effects dramatize the appropriate criteria for lighting the stage drama. In a control tool is also found flaws in the software used in mobile phones that have come out of the program first before sending the next command and distance for lighting control only about 7 meters. This tool has received validation from the LB. Suraja a dance coach and administrator at Prambanan Ramayana Ballet who claimed this tool is sufficient to meet criteria and developed as it is possible to control lighting in a real drama

Personalized Ambience: An Integration of Learning Model and Intelligent Lighting Control

The number of households and offices adopting automation system is on the rise. Although devices and actuators can be controlled through wireless transmission, they are mostly static with preset schedules, or at different times it requires human intervention. This paper presents a smart ambience system that analyzes the user’s lighting habits, taking into account different environmental context variables and user needs in order to automatically learn about the user’s preferences and automate the room ambience dynamically. Context information is obtained from Yahoo Weather and environmental data pertaining to the room is collected via Cubesensors to study the user’s lighting habits. We employs a learning model known as the Reduced Error Prune Tree (REPTree) to analyze the users’ preferences, and subsequently predicts the preferred lighting condition to be actuated in real time through Philips Hue. The system is able to ensure the user’s comfort at all time by performing a closed feedback control loop which checks and maintains a suitable lighting ambience at optimal level

    Random walk and lighting control

We pose the problem of turning off a single luminaire (or group) as an optimal stopping problem. We present the stationary and first-passage analysis of motion data obtained using custom wireless nodes in an open office floor plan. These calculations allow us to estimate the state of the network and calculate the probability and expected number of steps to visit a state from any arbitrary state. We also investigate if there is any evidence of clustering amongst the nodes by studying the covariance of the dataset. The data indicate the existence of clustering within the lattice. In other words, the analysis of random walk prevents luminaires from accidentally shutting off and dimensionality reduction determines the correct zoning of lighting via the occupants' movements
